    You can't talk to some of these fans. Sam doesn't have 18 int's. He has 15 and Josh Allen has 14, Mahomes has 13. Hurts is tied with Sam with the most turnovers in the NFL. Most of our fans don't watch others teams. Out of the top 3 QB's two of them hold the ball long. Two of them don't play within structure. Two of them try to make hero plays a lot. One of them is the same height as Sam.

    I've been a washington fan for 40 years, and watched our QBs painfully for over 20 years, aside from RG3's rookie year, we've not had anyone that has showed promise like Howell since, and long before.
    He's got the ability to make great throws, and has made some unbelievable throws already. His problem this year has been a combination of things, poor play calling, poor separation often, and a questionable offensive line at best. I put the majority of the blame on Bienemy for not scheming to the personnel at his disposal, as opposed to just drawing up pass plays that take time to develop for big plays. Sack after sack, no protection, and Howell isn't tall enough to see the field when the line is blown up. The guy needs time, and can't have time without protection. It feels like Bienemy's got a scheme looking for the personnel to fit it, and we don't have them. He must adjust, but it may be too late for him already in Washington

    I don’t see the new GM letting a top OL go with our first pick in the draft. Top OL are so hard to come by and we’ve found that out the hard way.
    The new GM needs to draft a top OL with that top 5 pick.

  • @sampreston4045

    There is a reason that Howell was picked in round 5. If the commanders thought more highly of him they would have drafted him higher instead of drafting the non productive players they drafted at the top of their draft board.

    • @treflips2158

      So why did they trade up to be the first pick in round 5 to get him?

    Ive lost a little faith in him, but I don’t think it’s his fault. Our defense was supposed to take the pressure off the offense this year and that was completely flipped on its head. A bad defense and a bad o line have been detrimental to his development. I’m more impressed with Sam’s toughness than I’d thought I’d be, he just needs more time to develop around a balanced team.
    My opinion, draft the OL in the first round. Build the core of the team up around Sam and next year is make or break for him. We are more than a QB away from being highly competitive so build the team around the QB now, and address the QB later.

    “Peyton manning has the rookie record for INTs” is the worst datapoint. Every fan base uses it for every rookie. Raider fans probably used it for Russel, Bears fans probably used it for Trubisky, etc.

    Even if we draft a QB Sam should still be on the roster, and will probably be our Week 1 starter. Having two starting caliber QBs is not a bad problem to have, the league is so starved for QBs that they fetch a lot in a trade.

    • @jeremydubin858

    • @raymondsmith2040
      @raymondsmith2040 8 месяцев назад

      I agree. I think the whole "if you have 2 starting caliber QBs you have none" is completely outdated. If you're not sure just draft another one and if Sam shows significant improvement as a starter next year you have a incredible trading asset in the other QB.

      No one wants to hear this, and this happens in all jobs... He is exhausted. He is tired. Does that excuse bad judgement,Not at all, but it explains some bad judgement. Fatigued people regardless of their walk of life don't process well. A fresh Sam less scouted looked really good, a tired Sam scouted more looks mediocre. Take a deep breath please. Playing like a rookie not helping EB😢

  • @kevinroll8299
    @kevinroll8299 8 месяцев назад

    No. I’m well aware of the fact that in his first year in EB’s system, he has been learning on the fly (while Mahomes on the other hand, sat his whole first year to learn the offense). And, with that being said, Howell has played well under the circumstances: below average OL pass-pro (which limits the plays you can call) and below average defensive play.
    Also, on the other hand, Howell has thrown the ball more than any other QB in the league. Howell has shown many flashes throughout the year that he is the franchise QB. Manning and Aikman had much worse first full years than Howell has. While Howell currently leads the league in INTs, he has the same amount of TDs as Hurts, top 10 in passing yards, more YPG than Hurts, Allen, and Herbert, and he’s doing all of it behind a makeshift OL that has been the weak point since Rivera came in.
    Howell is a guy we can build around.

    @redwings0142 8 месяцев назад

    No. The amount of pressure and responsibility that’s been thrust on him would make many other young QBs crumble. I do think this staff and porous roster is starting to break him, but the ability is still very much there.

  • @andysawyer647
    @andysawyer647 8 месяцев назад +2

    Yes, because of his resume and his actual words. There are not two time, Super Bowl winning OCs, because even the best ones get 1 to 3 years as an OC. He had 5 and was in his system for 10 years. He has MJD, Tyreke Hill Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Adrian Peterson vouching for his ability. He literally said i will only eun what the guys could run and I'm looking forward to a challenge. By any standard he is the most qualified OC to HC in the NFL. I know people are going to mention Ben Johnson, but just because youre hot has no bearing on what you will do in the futurr as people are currently arguing with EB. My question is why does EB not get the grace of being in his first year here?

    • @raymondsmith2040
      @raymondsmith2040 8 месяцев назад +1

      So was he calling the offense in KC before or not? I'm confused. Either way that's not the point Craig or anybody else who's actually thinking about this critically is saying. His offensive philosophy is the complete opposite of how you're supposed to treat a first year starting QB. If Jalen Hurts or Brock Purdy were in Sam's situation they'd be struggling just as much as him. Why? Cuz EBs philosophy doesn't help a young QB and by extention doesn't lead to winning games. I just hope EB hasn't completely ruined the kid.

      @raymondsmith2040 he been the OC in someone else system just as he is here. It's always the HCs ship. This is still 80% the same staff and personnel from last year. Best case scenario kinda happened with Sam. He showed he coupd play, but he has a way to go in consistency executing.
