After playing the Widowmaker Disc and now playing the Ellis disc, I shall be playing the rest, periodically. I like a fair number of the tracks already, but feel I need to play the albums a few times to get used to the other tracks. So pleased I plumped for this set. Really interesting to listen to an artist I didn't know about a great deal.

Another great boxset review. To be fair I've only really known his work from the Widowmaker days until now with your review. Sounds like a lot of thought has gone into it. For now you've whetted my appetite for streaming some of his work first.

Hello Phil. I saw Steve live in Antwerp in '91 on a package tour. Great character and terrific voice ! I have the 2cd anthology : An Everlasting Soul, which gives a nice career overview. 'Bringing on back the good times' definitely is my favourite Ellis track. Brings back a lot of memories indeed.

Well after seeing one member on the FB Group posting playing some of the individual discs and watching your video, Phil, I have just ordered this set. I will have it delivered tomorrow. I am very intrigued and I shall keep you informed of my opinion once played.

Another nice review Phil! Looks like a very interesting box set. Steve Ellis is a fabulous singer! I know that Love Affair wise `Everlasting Love` gets most of the plaudits but for me `Bringin` On Back The Good Times` is the one. I`d easily place that in the top ten songs of the 1960`s.
Completely understand what you are saying regarding missing so much due to resources and so forth. There was no you tube or spotify back then and as well as finances you were restricted somewhat due to what you might be able to hear on the limited amount of radio stations and your peers who might have some good records to borrow from or they might not!

Hi Phi, I am so glad you brought Steve Ellis and his music to my attention. I played 'Pin A Rose On Me' by Widowmaker and I was hooked! How did I miss all of this great music? Best wishes,

Hi Paul, thank you watching. I know what you mean. I think is was because it was easier for music to get missed. No internet, so no streaming, RUclips etc. unless you read a review or one of your friends had a copy then some bands were almost invisible. This is a great box set and the production values and the quality of the music is 10/10 - Phil :)

Suggestion for a future item on your channel. Just found out today that one of rocks awesome album cover artists has just passed away.
Ken Kenny remembered for work for artists like Kiss, Manowar and Rainbow.
Who can forget that Rainbow Rising album cover?
How about doing a feature on album artwork? Just a suggestion.
    RIP Ken Kenny

@@NowSpinningMagazine Phil, that's great. We quite often forget these great works of album art. Other great works are Meatloafs courtesy of Richard Corben and those Iron Maiden covers courtesy of Derek Riggs.
Capturing the energy and vibe of an album with those front covers must be really difficult. As kids we would stare for hours at the album artwork whilst the music blasted away.
Went out and bought band T shirts emblazoned with the same art never really giving much thought to the creators of such amazing scenes.
