He mixes in the youth the Professor is portraying with the smooth, refined voice of Hidgens, which results in a sound that I can’t quite describe. @@alanatorres4335 I mean, it makes sense for Bill and Ted's actors to not sing just because of their characters and when they're on stage. It just sucks a bit that we don't get to hear much from Joey and Corey because they're in those roles.
@@leahflower1067 For sure. When he's not falsetto-ing the shit out of his voice, it's pretty good! I think that he's fine in the opening number, though; it feels like it's appropriate then.
corey actually has a really good baritone voice and superb vibrato. you have to watch him in a role where he has more solos to actually gauge how good he is. honestly tired of how everyone forgets about him because he's usually relegated to quieter characters.
k the thing is all the hype around mariah and robert makes me wanna light myself on fire. luckily the hardcore stans havent driven to the point of hating them YET. they have driven me to hating not your seed though.
livi whats wrong with an actor being hyped up? i think mariah and robert have gorgeous voices, and they’re mine, and my friends’ favorite members of tgwdlm cast. they have amazing vocals and amazing acting, they deserve the hype.
livi It shouldn’t make you upset if the hype is 100% deserved Robert and Mariah are truly so incredible, I think you just despise conforming to a widely-accepted opinion no matter how true and genuine the opinion is
Here’s my rank based on technique, acting, and their voice overall. Just in TGWDLM bc it wouldn’t be fair to Mariah and Jon to judge other performances. This is gonna be hard. Lol. 8. Jon (Would love to have heard more of his lower range. His acting was great for the most part, but due to him being a new member, his chemistry with Lauren wasn’t as good as it could have been. His voice is nice to listen to although his breath support wasn’t really all there. Solid 6) 7. Jeff (Same as with Jon... I love Jeff’s lower range, and really wish that it had been incorporated into the show more. His acting was A1. Considering the circumstances of the musical, his ability to act like he’s fresh out the insane asylum is appreciated. He was a bit pitchy at times, think “What Do You Want Paul”, but that’s to be expected when you’re singing that high for an entire show, night after night. Rank: 6.2) 6. Cory (They did him dirty in this one lol. We really didn’t hear enough of him in this show, but in his solo in the opening number his tone, and vibrato were really nice. His voice isn’t really as agile as some of the other cast members so the riff at 0:15 wasn’t as good as it could have been, but it was still really good. His acting made me cry. I rank him a 6.3) 5. Joey (The way he manipulated his tone as the homeless guy was really cool. Not many people would be able to pull it off without taking it over the top, but he killed it. He also really brought to life the sleaze ball that is Ted. His acting was amazing. Any minor pitch issues were overshadowed by his overall performance. I’ll say 6.8 4. Lauren (Emma in “Cup of Roasted Coffee” is me 25/8 istg. Her singing is always good, but there isn’t really much in this show for obvious reasons. That brief moment of “I’ve been brewing up your coffee” was one of the greatest songs to ever be written. Just saying. I rank her 7.3) 3. Mariah (I just wanna say I am jealous of this woman. Lol. Her belting is amazing, and I need to take lessons from her. Her acting in “Not You Seed” actually hurt my soul. Melissa is a seriously underrated character. In the brief time that we see her, she is just the perfect mix of awkward and adorable. 7.4) 2. Jaime (Again... jealous. Her belting in “Join Us and Die” is seriously the fuel of my hopes and dreams. She also has incredible range, and I love how Charlotte is on just the right side of deranged. Nora was a character I would have liked to see more of. I wanna know if she would have been nicer once you got to know her lol. And Deb seems like the kind of girlfriend I would want to have if I were gay lol. Rank: 7.8) 1. Robert (Okay. I really don’t even have to ramble. Lol. His range is amazing. I think a video on this channel says his range is like D2-F5. Coincidentally we have the same range, just my entire range is shifted up an octave bc I’m a girl. Mine’s D3-F6. I find that pretty cool. Anyway, his singing, acting and dancing skills never cease to amaze me. His rank: An 8... or maybe a 9. Not over a 9.8 because there’s always room for improvement.)
I woulda swapped 8 and 7 and 1 and 2, but a pretty good list and like you said they are all good so its a tough choice! my list would be: 8: jon, 7: corey, 6: joey, 5: jeff, 4: lauren, 3: robert, 2: mariah, 1: jamie
Honestly tho. His ability to use different accents and voices but still have incredibly clear diction is something not many people can do. Look at Joey for example, I can only really understand every other word when he sings as the homeless guy because of the voice he uses.
Definitely agree with your top 4! I would probably make Correy 5 because I absolutely LOVE him, then Jon 6, Joey 7 and Jeff 8... But they all have AMAZING voices so it's really hard to decide
@@rosalinahoffkjrgaard3783 well I'm not saying Jeff has a bad voice but it's just that everyone in the cast has amazing vocals and Jeff would probably be the one I like least (which doesn't mean I don't like him). It's just that sometimes his vocals do sound a bit forced and even though it's great for comedic effects it just doesn't sound that great musically... at least in my opinion :)
Jeff Blim doesn't have a healthy singing technique. If he continues to force his voice like this, he will permanently damage his vocal chords. He could train with a vocal coach, and in time he would reach the level that's needed for this role.
Jon has said he considers himself an actor who can sing rather than a singer who can act tho he still had a really lovely voice for some reason I just love the way it sounds
My personal list 8: Corey (I'm sorry any other musical I swear he'd be higher) 7: Joey (I absolutely adore his voice but it wasn't really showcased in his octave in this musical) 6: Jeff (Again I love his voice but it's not always in the octave he shines the best in) 5: Lauren (we don't hear her sing that often and she's characterized as not caring, so that reflects in her voice) 4: Robert (I love him, but his acting is better than his singing) 3: Jon (might get the least agreement on this one, but I love his voice so much) 2: Mariah (I love her voice too, it's mixed and gorgeous) 1: Jamie (straight up goddess)
This is just me personally and I know they can’t be ranked but what better to do with my Friday evening. 8) Joey - Talk about growth! From AVPM to some of his newer stuff, he’s come such a long way and has really developed as a vocalist. Love him and his character depictions 7) Corey - Man I love Corey’s voice even though we don’t get to hear much of it in TGWDLM. It’s so rich and mellifluous and I can’t help but get excited every time he comes on stage. 6) Lauren - If we’re talking about TGWDLM, then I’d have to place Lauren about here. We don’t get to hear her sing all that much but I absolutely adore her “cute lil barista” solo at the beginning! Total Lauren stan here
I hate myself but Jeff’s billion characters grate on me. Like, his acting and faces and body language are 🔥 but HE GAVE HIMSELF SO. MANY. FALSETTO. SOLOS. What human could possibly?
It's unfathomable that there exists a show where Lauren is 4th (and, in this case, middle of the pack) in terms of vocals... but still... this list is perfect haha
also i’m really glad you put robert closer to the top because he was able to sing effortlessly during his “five o clock can’t come soon enough” section WHILE LEAPING AROUND LIKE THAT. THATS SOME NEWSIES LEVEL SHIT

Yes, plus when Joey was playing a character that sang it usually had a different accent to him so that also restricted his vocals :’)

Im_Gay Because Bill is the only friend of Paul's that doesn't get infected
@@samanthaong1920 He gets infected. I'm pretty sure that before Let It Out, Ted remarks, "Watch out, Paul, or he'll kick your head," or something.

@@alanatorres4335 I mean, it makes sense for Bill and Ted's actors to not sing just because of their characters and when they're on stage. It just sucks a bit that we don't get to hear much from Joey and Corey because they're in those roles.
mel sameeeeeeeee Jeff just seems so unpleasant, like a great voice and all but like weird
@@leahflower1067 For sure. When he's not falsetto-ing the shit out of his voice, it's pretty good! I think that he's fine in the opening number, though; it feels like it's appropriate then.
I love Jon’s vocals, mainly in “Let It Out” since he needs to play 2 characters at once-
okay i absolutely agree but jons “INEVITABLE” is amazing
corey actually has a really good baritone voice and superb vibrato. you have to watch him in a role where he has more solos to actually gauge how good he is. honestly tired of how everyone forgets about him because he's usually relegated to quieter characters.
My opinion:
8. Lauren (just because she isn't a singing character if that makes sense)
7. Corey
6. Joey
5.jon
4. Jeff
3. Jaime
2. Robert
1. Mariah
facts
k the thing is all the hype around mariah and robert makes me wanna light myself on fire. luckily the hardcore stans havent driven to the point of hating them YET. they have driven me to hating not your seed though.
livi whats wrong with an actor being hyped up? i think mariah and robert have gorgeous voices, and they’re mine, and my friends’ favorite members of tgwdlm cast. they have amazing vocals and amazing acting, they deserve the hype.
livi
It shouldn’t make you upset if the hype is 100% deserved
Robert and Mariah are truly so incredible, I think you just despise conforming to a widely-accepted opinion no matter how true and genuine the opinion is
Here’s my rank based on technique, acting, and their voice overall. Just in TGWDLM bc it wouldn’t be fair to Mariah and Jon to judge other performances. This is gonna be hard. Lol.
8. Jon
(Would love to have heard more of his lower range. His acting was great for the most part, but due to him being a new member, his chemistry with Lauren wasn’t as good as it could have been. His voice is nice to listen to although his breath support wasn’t really all there. Solid 6)
7. Jeff
(Same as with Jon... Rank: 6.2)
6. Cory
(They did him dirty in this one lol. We really didn’t hear enough of him in this show, but in his solo in the opening number his tone, and vibrato were really nice. His voice isn’t really as agile as some of the other cast members so the riff at 0:15 wasn’t as good as it could have been, but it was still really good. His acting made me cry. I rank him a 6.3)
5. Joey
(The way he manipulated his tone as the homeless guy was really cool. Not many people would be able to pull it off without taking it over the top, but he killed it. He also really brought to life the sleaze ball that is Ted. His acting was amazing. Any minor pitch issues were overshadowed by his overall performance. I’ll say 6.8
4. Lauren
(Emma in “Cup of Roasted Coffee” is me 25/8 istg. Her singing is always good, but there isn’t really much in this show for obvious reasons. That brief moment of “I’ve been brewing up your coffee” was one of the greatest songs to ever be written. Just saying. I rank her 7.3)
3. Mariah
(I just wanna say I am jealous of this woman. Lol. Her belting is amazing, and I need to take lessons from her. Her acting in “Not You Seed” actually hurt my soul. Melissa is a seriously underrated character. In the brief time that we see her, she is just the perfect mix of awkward and adorable. 7.4)
2. Jaime
(Again... Rank: 7.8)
1. Robert
(Okay.
Our 2 dancing legends:
*Lauren & Robert*
corey sweetie im so sorry
I woulda swapped 8 and 7 and 1 and 2, but a pretty good list and like you said they are all good so its a tough choice!
my list would be:
8: jon, 7: corey, 6: joey, 5: jeff, 4: lauren, 3: robert, 2: mariah, 1: jamie
at first i got angry at where you put Lauren, but then i remembered the 3 you hadn’t mentioned yet and it made sense
You should have added the “WEEEEEEOOOOOO WEEEEEEOOOOOOO” part from show me your hands for robert
I get that this is opinion based BUT LET'S BE REAL ROBERT MANION IS THE MOST AMAZING SINGER
Mcfunion :3 HELL YEAH!!!
The versatility alone shouldve put him at first
He did have a few flat moments on the albums which really sour some songs. He's great live!
Honestly tho. His ability to use different accents and voices but still have incredibly clear diction is something not many people can do. Look at Joey for example, I can only really understand every other word when he sings as the homeless guy because of the voice he uses.
I’m so infatuated with Jeff Blim & these videos just keep reaffirming that
Definitely agree with your top 4! I would probably make Correy 5 because I absolutely LOVE him, then Jon 6, Joey 7 and Jeff 8... But they all have AMAZING voices so it's really hard to decide
jeff 8????????????????????????????
@@rosalinahoffkjrgaard3783 well I'm not saying Jeff has a bad voice but it's just that everyone in the cast has amazing vocals and Jeff would probably be the one I like least (which doesn't mean I don't like him). It's just that sometimes his vocals do sound a bit forced and even though it's great for comedic effects it just doesn't sound that great musically... at least in my opinion :)
Hkihfzdchjgd 2873279952 I was thinking that too, a kid in my school play dose that, I honestly agree with Jeff being number 8.
My favorite is that unnamed hat man that said "Hey Mr. Business~" at the end of Roasted/Poisoned Coffee.
I believe that’s Robert Manion but I could be wrong
I still can’t get over “TO DIIIEEEE”
My personal list
8: Corey (I'm sorry any other musical I swear he'd be higher)
7: Joey (I absolutely adore his voice but it wasn't really showcased in his octave in this musical)
6: Jeff (Again I love his voice but it's not always in the octave he shines the best in)
5: Lauren (we don't hear her sing that often and she's characterized as not caring, so that reflects in her voice)
4: Robert (I love him, but his acting is better than his singing)
3: Jon (might get the least agreement on this one, but I love his voice so much)
2: Mariah (I love her voice too, it's mixed and gorgeous)
1: Jamie (straight up goddess)
This is just me personally and I know they can’t be ranked but what better to do with my Friday evening.
8) Joey - Talk about growth! From AVPM to some of his newer stuff, he’s come such a long way and has really developed as a vocalist. Love him and his character depictions
7) Corey - Man I love Corey’s voice even though we don’t get to hear much of it in TGWDLM.
Total Lauren stan here
Considering Jeff is at #5 and that Lauren is at #4 that really shows how talented this cast it lol
I agree with everything but I would switch 2 and 3
unpopular opinion time
8. Jeff
7. Joey
6. Corey
5. Jon
4. Lauren
3. Jamie
2. Robert
1. Mariah
8. Jon
7. Jeff
6. Joey
5. Corey
4. Lauren
3. Jamie
2. Robert
1). Mariah
Every now and then I imagine someone who has never seen starkid watching these complations
i could never choose between those top 3. they are all soooo gooood
Props to you for actually being able to rank them, This would’ve been so hard for me everyone in this cast is absolutely phenomenal
Fun fact: Mariah is gonna be Regina George in the mean girls national tour 😍🥰
While I might have switched a few near the bottom, you’re top three are definitely mine too god I love them
VERY bold of nearly everyone to put jon so low... i respect y’all’s opinions though (even if they’re Wrong And Bad™️😤😤😤😤)
You nailed the list. Only change I'd make is I'd switch Joey and Jon in this. But the rest is perfect, thanks for uploading!
Just me:
8. You
7. Cant
6. Rank
5. Starkids
4. They're
3. All
2. Perfect
1. Jeff
Came into this thinking it should be Mariah. Yet, Jamie's "to dieeeee" was so amazing i wouldn't care if she took it
I CANT WITH THAT LINE “THE DOGS ARE MY FOOD” OMFGGGG
SAME
ROBERT IS MY #1!
If Jaime isn't in top place we riot
My list:
8. Jon
7. Corey
6. Jeff
5. Joey
4. Lauren
3. Robert
Tied for first: Mariah and Jaime
I hate myself but Jeff’s billion characters grate on me. Like, his acting and faces and body language are 🔥 but HE GAVE HIMSELF SO. MANY. FALSETTO. SOLOS. What human could possibly?
Also I'm super impressed with how good the newbies are. Great job Jon and Mariah, welcome to the team
The clips in this video sum up the chaos of the musical very well
I appreciate this so much
ughhh corey has such a great voice, wish he had a chance to show it off. like in “sometimes it pays to be an animal” he was fucking incredible.
"Big T's Temptation". Nuff said.
It's unfathomable that there exists a show where Lauren is 4th (and, in this case, middle of the pack) in terms of vocals... but still... this list is perfect haha
Jeff and Mariah are different in my opinion! I love all of their voices but those two are my favorites💖
Jeff's vocals in "What Do You Want Paul" are so good thoughhhh
also i’m really glad you put robert closer to the top because he was able to sing effortlessly during his “five o clock can’t come soon enough” section WHILE LEAPING AROUND LIKE THAT. THATS SOME NEWSIES LEVEL SHIT
mariah is god
In the past two weeks youve singlehandedly rekindled my love for starkid productions. Ive been spending so much time watching these compilations! Keep up the rad work!
I’m so excited that Mariah and Robert are the main characters for Black Friday!! They are so insanely talented and I’m so excited to see how the show turns out.
okay but Jon is in my top five starkid singers i love his voice-
GUYS COREY'S GONNA GET MORE SOLO LINES IN THE WORKING BOYS SHORT FILM
honestly, I love videos like this because rankings aside you've found all of these great vocal clips and I get to reappreciate starkid!
i agree with this list and i actually hadnt payed too much attention to jamie's vocals before this but like watching the little clips you put in, holy shit she deserves that #2 spot so thank you for enlightening me
This is so weird, I did theatre with mariah.. this is crazy how far she’s come she’s amazing!
Bottom of the list ends up being Corey.
_He sings like an angel, we're in for a good time_
everyone got robbed.
I love Jon’s voice, anyone else?
1: Lauren
1: Jon
1: Robert
1: Corey
1: Jamie
1: Jeff
1: Mariah
1: Joey
I agree with no list but this
Poor Jeff
Poor guy can’t do the jumps during Working Boyz UwU
If Mariah isnt number one imma riot
Edit: thanks for respecting my lord and saviour
hopefully mariah is here to stay and we see her as often as we see robert and rachel as a newcomer. she's great!
Also for Jeff Blim I wish you would have included something from Tied up my heart cause that was a pretty good song
The girls in this particular play killed it!
love jeff, but he's doing that falsetto on purpose and i think he needs to hear for himself the difference between that and a normal tone (which he can very well do)
Bianca Aletti I don’t understand this critique...
All of you are such amazing beautiful angels honestly
Robert has one of those voices where his low notes turn you into a puddle of just sgnangfbxa
