Hey Adam, I like your videos and been followed you for a while, out of respect, I went to your shop to exam my truck, but the quote provided shocked me and I backed out
I know my truck is kind of old sure it got some issues, but when I see 1 wheel seal only labor is going to cost me $440, along with some other labors I don’t know what for. and on the paper I was suggested change all 4 leaf springs on drive, I was wondering just maybe 1 of them is having issue and it’s not even leaf spring but maybe the washer or nuts or U-bolt is a little bad, why do they suggest me changing all 4 of them?
I deliberately took a load went to Dallas, and stayed there waiting for your shop to check my truck, I paid $220 for a courtesy check and eventually on paper if I ought to change 2 wheel seals, 4 leaf springs, 1 hose for air compressor, 1 air dryer, all that going to cost me $8600 something dollars
So I backed out, trucking is dying, my truck under this market probably not worth $8600, I went to TA changed 1 leaking wheel seal and cost me $3-400 in total, again, I respect you and really appreciate what you doing, I guess I’m just too poor to afford such repair. I hope your mechanic can show and explain to me why do I need to do all that instead of just send a message with pictures of what they found.
My truck is already over 1 million miles without any overhaul, it runs great because I try to maintain it well, but with your quote, sorry I can’t afford it
PS; it’s a pity didn’t get to see you, I don’t like going down to Dallas usually, hard to find a decent place to park, hard to find a decent load out

Not all semi trucks have a 4 stroke. Many years ago Detroit Diesel had a two stroke. It requires special tuning and if the Governor broke or oil started leaking into the cylinders it would run away and burn up. They were dangerous, look them up, there are still a few of them around.

You are 100% wrong not all semi-trucks are four strokes you can still run an old v-series Detroit or cat whatever V series 2-stroke even inline 2-stroke in a truck. Maybe you should clarify yourself and tell everybody that all modern trucks come with a 4-stroke

All modern engines on the road are 4-stroke. It is rare to have a 2-stroke in a semi.

@@TATEXPRESSINC that is not correct there are a lot of Two Strokes still out there on the road

@@rodchandlerii6922 Modern Railroad locomotives are 4-stroke. There are still RARE 2-stroke diesel running the rails. With this said the 2-stroke engines are less fuel efficient and do not meet the Tier 4 EPA emissions.

How many are out there? What are the chances he or even I, when I get home, will work on one?
