I love the second opening, has great imagery and a cool song, sang in a way and tone I never heard again in anime openings... and I love how all across the opening you can see the Nen threads of Machi, linking ideally all the characters like the thread of Fate... and the black sun is fantastic, always gave me very well the vibe of how Kurapika lives his vengeance quest, like a endless darkness, turning even the day into night

@@galinglrs probably yes, but I used the term sun because the op song is called "the sun shines also at night", and it's said in the lyrics, and I liked that idea that the bitter spirale of vengeance makes, for Kurapika, all time equally dark, no more difference between night and sun, even if it's shining bright, nothing is enlightened by it to his eyes. Something like that xD

These 1999 Opening was so great, especially I like Pale Ale. Moreover, I think 1999 anime is better than 2011 because it's story was much more true to the original. Though 2011 anime was great especially Chimera Ant episode, the story up to it was awful because there ware many cuts from original manga's interesting episodes and lines and those were changed for the worse. Particularly Sushi making episode in hunter exam is very funny and popural, but 2011 anime cutted it all and changed it completery different, unnatural, inconsistent and boreing story. In the sushi pert, you can see each caracter's very funny moments, and as an examiner Menchi properly watched the examinees' attention and showed her pride as a chef and a Hunter, and there was important conversation between Menchi and Hanzo, Netero. So I and many other fans of original were so disappointed and angry about 2011 version at that time. (if you are interested in Sushi episode, you can see it at episode 9 in 1999 series, or episode 11 in manga.) I'm so frustrated that many people who found HUNTERxHUNTER at 2011 anime for the first time think 1999 anime no need to see since it's same story as 2011 and it's old. 1999 edision was great not only the story but animation (especially Yorknew City episode's animation was awsome like movie quality since it's drawn by legendary animator Norio Matsumoto who famous for Samurai X OVA), good BGM, dark and cool atmosphere. I want many people to watch 1999 anime. And ofcause, original Manga is the best as well.
"Upsidedown cross" is actually a Cross of Saint Peter.
It is for some reason been popular as "anti-christ" symbol, but it was about modesty and a traditional Christian symbol.
Since the show uses other bible references, it shouldn't be taken as "anti-christ" symbol imo.
Why wouldn't it be assiciated with the antichrist when chrolo himself say judas wasn't a traitor.
@@99range92def Well I don't know how that would make a Saint Peter's Cross "antichrist" here... Peter isn't Judas.
However there has been some discussion about Jesus asking Judas to betray him. You can read more about that in Lost Gospel of Judas.
Everyone can draw their own opinion on this subject tho.

I heard them years ago, after knowing only the italian ops... and I was astonished at how the second opening is darker and cooler than the one they used in my country. Doesn't even look like something you'd put on a shonen xD

I absolutely think the ‘99 version of hunter x hunter is underrated. The story just works fantastically well with the old cel style animation and the original soundtrack just works really well. I love how they expand on a bunch of ideas early on that are only brushed past in the remake and manga.
"GI Final" simply abbreviates "Greed Island Final", the episodes which make up the last half of the Greed Island arc.
Yes HxH is fantastic, both adaptations. As far as I know, no one on RUclips has done complete episodic reactions of the original adaptation. That may be due to availability; I know of no service that makes it available to stream, although folks keep uploading episodes to RUclips.
If you decide to react to the 2011 instead, at least watch, and maybe react to, ep.1(1999). It contains an important canonical flashback for the main character. The extra background and introductions really help understand his personality and later events.
I'd like too a reaction to the 99, maybe even from someone doing both reaction, even if it's a lot of time xD (I mean 99 and 2011)
Flash Facts:
- The creator of HunterXHunter is also the one responsible for YuYu Hakusho.
- He said it himself, in one of his interviews, that he took elements from YuYu Hakusho, implemented and polished them to make HxH.
- For the people who have no idea what I am talking about, YuYu Hakusho is one of the early 90s anime series alongside others like Slayers / Dragonball / Sailor Moon / Rurouni Kenshin / Fist of the North Star / Akira etc.

YuYu Hakusho is a legend show. People who are into the HxH should watch it. Another cool thing is that Ging Gon’s father looks exactly like Yusuke the MC of YuYu Hakusho....Togashi wanted to keep the legend alive lol.
For me, hxh 1999 is a memory of my childhood. It was broadcasted on my local tv during my elementary school days, the 1st opening and ending even translated to my local language and sung by local artist but its still great! As for popularity, i think its still overshadowed by more recent anime but everyone who already watched it (both version) will agree that hxh has amazing worldbuilding, power system, and a greatness you cant really explain except you watch it yourself😎
best way I could describe Hunter x Hunter is its a masterfully woven story filled with realistic characters and a fun world, it defys alot of expectations.
true but yu yu hakusho has the better main characters ...sorry but gon killua and leorio are boring as shit compared to yusuke kuwabara and hiei....kurupika is a slightly better kurama but not by much...and kurama is still better than the other 3 hunter characters...kurupika is a cool idea but meh i still would actually put kurama ahead of him an then put kurupika ahead of hiei actually as my 4th favorite of these 8 but I did the one to one comparison in terms of role in the story since kurama and kurupika are clearly meant to have the same role so thats why I said hes slightly better than kurama but i still like kurama more and hiei less ....honestly genkai is better than biscuit and would be higher for me then gon or leorio maybe even killua

I would love to see the 2011 version on the channel. But I highly recommend reading the 1st manga chapter or watching the 1st episode of the 1999 version before that. Because it explains some stuff that is skipped over in the 2011 anime. Also I hope you can react to the psycho pass endings and the 2 movie/OVA openings that you missed in your psycho pass openings reaction.
i feel brotherhood is better than fma but honestly the 1998-2000 hunter hunter shits on the 2011 one..its a darker one piece type vibe going on with the music and tone and art...i miss that 2000 one piece animation and art and it reminds me of it just slightly better quality and more defined weighted designs

There´s a lot of things where this show is very different from average shounen.
1. The fights are won by using actual strategy and not just power.
2. The characters and their development is the best that I have ever seen.
3. The story has nearly no predictable or cliche plot points and it is all very unique and original but it all makes sense and threre are basically no plot holes.
4. There is no clear line between good and evil and and you might sometimes find yourself liking the antagonists more than the protagonists.
5. Every arc is different from the last and nothing feels predicable or recycled. (kind of similar to Jojo´s)
6. Also the soundtrack is great and the animation is amazing for a show that aired for 3 years.
Definitely a 10/10 for me
I would add. The main character is not always the protagonist on entire arcs.

I'm a 1999 version fan myself. But I understand people liking 2011 version too. I think both have different strengths and weaknesses. Tbh, I didn't like the 2011 version the first time I watched it. I only got back to it when they got to the Greed Island arc... But then I gave it another shot and enjoyed it anyway (probably because I wanted to have an excuse to see it again).
I used to watch it on TV. Besides, the director also directed Rurouni Kenshin which was another favourite of mine back in the day.
Oh gosh, so yeah. I quite love this version. It brings me back and I love how dark it is.
My TOP 3 and is one of the best ever made. Growth in characters and how fluid each arcs are with one another. Have only seen the 2011 version but have read some parts of the manga. 🤫
I have watched both versions multiple times, and I can't choose one over the other. The anime is perfection, the storytelling, the characters, the voice acting, the design in both versions are nice (Ik a lot of people prefer the newer one, but the 1999 design has its own charm). The 1999 openings go hard but I also love the 2011 ones. In conclusion I love both versions so much.
not gonna lie if i had enough money i would make 1999 hunter x hunter back with all the new episodes just because its dark as hell and amazing.
Hxh is like a shonen show with seinin features in it and a world building that is upto us to explore. The cool thing more is that more than the main characters the main villains get more character development
the upside-down cross refers to st perter's cross the person who refused to be crucified the same way as Christ
Just seen this video in my subscription box. My reaction? "Oh? HELL YEAH!" 1999 is truly better than 2011 in a few respects. So it has a very large fanbase. Now, 2011 is better overall. But when it came to darker themed portions, 1999 did it better. Things like the Yorknew arc in 1999 were perfect for the overall design of the anime already. Made it feel like a gritty mafia movie. It also, arguably, had the better OST. But those are all my personal opinions.
Overall, I'd say 1999 is a solid 9/10, cus it does have issues such as filler (though some of them are incredible), and bad pacing at the start

Hunter X Hunter 2011 is one of my top anime of all time (up there with One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Haikyuu). It's just so well done and so well written. I would say it's superior overall to the original 1999 version simply due to having less filler and going further in the story though the original version was good as well regardless.

I tend to only watch reactions for shows I've seen, and I haven't seen the 1999 HxH series or its OVAs. I've read the manga past the point covered by the older anime and its OVAs, and watched the newer HxH anime i. Its entirety.
So... yeah, interested in a reaction to the newer one. To be fair, the 1999 version has its fans, including some who really like the filler added to the 1999 version.
I really love the first opening it feels so happy and nostalgic sounding that it gets me in the mood to watch the show.

My thoughts on Hunter x Hunter: it is the best anime/manga of all time. 2011 is better because it covers more of the manga. It’s popular because it’s just good, and Hunter x Hunter fans are starved for content because the manga is always on Hiatus
HxH is my favorite anime by a mile, it's great. The characters and power system are amazing, super recommend you give it a try.

HXH OVA: 2002. 8 EPS.
HXH Greed Island OVA: 2003. 8 EPS.
HXH G.I Final: FEB(?)-AUG(?), 2004. 14 EPS.
HXH (2011): October 2nd, 2011-Sept, 2014. 148 EPS.
241 episodes in all pretty much.
Chapters of Volume 37 of the manga are currently being released.
It’s an amazing anime even though it holds record for longest haitus it still has legend status
The old show got a much better pace in my opinion. The newer series felt a bit rushed to me. Also the voice actor of Naruto is Gon`s voice in the old one which makes a huge difference.

I actually watch the 1999 version of this show and now I'm quite confused in the new version lol, they censored the gruesome scenes, even cut some scenes... I feel like Im watching a new series, I do love both of the versions tho
I hope you enjoy the later arcs that weren’t in the original version. One of them is kinda slow in the beginning but stick with it because it is widely regarded as (one of) the best arcs in anime
the 1999 have also filler scenes and episodes that are not in the manga, some things are removed probably for move faster but most of them are just fillers

Hunter x Hunter isn‘t AS POPULAR as for example One Piece or Naruto. It just has an incredibly strong fanbase that brags everyone to watch the show. I can’t blame them, tho. Hunter x Hunter is truly a masterpiece.
If you want to watch the show, watch episode 1 of the 1999 version before you normally start watching the 2011 version, because the 2011 version if episode 1 left some stuff out.
I really recommend watching Hunter. Doesn't matter which one you watch, 1999 or 2011, both are absolutely fantastic. Yorknew and Chimera are GOAT tier shounen arcs.

hunter x hunter 2011 is definitely my favorite anime
first arc is the lighter arc, but it still reveals its dark sides at certain times. after that arc, the story gets darker and darker - and not only story, but main characters too
i highly recommend you to react to this anime, this series has everything: epic fights, moments of fear and stress, funny moments, moments of excitement, sad moments, great villains - I'm sure there will be at least one arc that you will love:)
it's actually difficult to write about hxh without any spoilers, so i will stop. still i hope you will react to this show, cause it really deserves it
Long story short, 2011 re-adapts the arcs 99 adapted and adds 2 extra arcs, comparing the 2 on the arcs they both adapted, 2011 has better animation in action scenes (it's more recent) and didn't censor some hisoka scenes, 99is better at everything else.
As for the 2 extra arcs, they're masterpieces

2011 is a better watch for reactions but you should still watch the first episode of 1999 because its almost like a prolouge to 2011

Love to see a reaction it does start of pretty light hearted before getting really dark though.
I prefer the 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter since there are some cut scenes in the new version that were really worth it it's such a shame they omitted them and the openings are so cool the 2nd and third are my favs ♡♡♡♡

I think you should React to the YYH openings. It’s an anime from the 90’s that was made by the same creator of HxH
Upside down cross isn’t really a dark or negative thing it only gets interpreted as such because of pop culture it’s actually a peters cross who didn’t want to die like Jesus so they put the cross upside down it can symbolize humanity and I think that would fit the character of chrollo more

Hunter 1999, I really like the music, fillers episodes and added humor of the anime. The show ends with a cliffhanger because the manga was still going on.
Hunter 2011, has better effects (powers), fight scenes and voice acting. Also it does have a ending to the show.
I recommend watching the Hunter x Hunter 2011 first. The show is probably one of my favorite shounen ever.
honestly, i prefer the old songs over the new ones... the artstyle as well are better in the old version.
It doesn't start all that dark, but it does get really dark in a few major arcs that take place later. Still, it's really good. HxH 2011 has some great animation, but what really sticks out is the storytelling. For an action shounen, there aren't all that many big fights. Instead, conflicts get resolved in much more creative ways. And the few big battles it does have are all amazing.
HXH is not a predictable show I'll say and tbh ill say it's the best of shonen anime because Togashi does really change a lot up when you expect one thing to happen and it doesn't give you that. Plus I just love the characters and the fact that they're in fact kids and they do suffer from what has happened to them whether it be in the past or present. I would recommend the manga after the show because its not done yet and we are still on hiatus. 😔✌
All the 1999 openings are bangers. Unfortunately the 2011 version opted to make it more child-friendly.
1999 really did the first 3 arcs amazing!! Then 2011 takes the cake for greed island and above

i love both versions however. i prefer the hunter exam arc and the Zoldic arc in the 99's version, then Heavens arena in the 2011, the york New arc in the 99s, and from then on the 2011.

Why HXH is good show :
_The unique of main characters.
_The story get higher and dark more and more.
_ as hxh fan u need allot of studies to know how this show have Intelligence, genius Planning for there abilities

He should have watched 99 till the york arc and then pick up 2011. There are a lot of interesting side things happening in the first arcs of 99 that 2011 didn't have.

You should do the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist reactions too
The 1999 version is a good watch, but the 2011 version does most things better from music (OST's) and characters.
Some things the 1999 does better is they set up a character in episode 1 similar to I believe the manga, while the 2011 does not do that. Also the 1999 version shows us early basically how strong our main characters are while the 2011 does not.
Something the 2011 does better is one of the series main "villain", and makes him more exciting to watch.
And the difference in animation are like heaven and earth.(In favour of the 2011 version). + The 2011 goes further into the Manga
You should defiantly watch the 2011 version, but After ep 12.(Ep 13 & 26 are recaps) you should watch the 3-4 first episodes of the 1999 version.(Ep 1 of the 1999 version you can show your reaction too, and the 2-3 others you can watch for yourself).
HxH is one of my favorite anime and manga. In my opinion it would be up there with Naruto, Bleach and One Piece (The big three) If the mangaka would not go on year long hiatuses.

Agree he should watch 3-4 of 99 ver. first, to understand characters better (can't agree about animation cuz I lean towards darker tones and line usage u.u 2011 last arch was amazing though o.o)
@@pachik0 Yeah I agree, but HxH ain't know as one of the "Big 3"! I can't stand Bleach, Naruto+ N.Shippuden is a 9.1 w/filler. 9.6 without filler. Hunter x Hunter 1999 is a 9.3 while 2011 is a perfect 10.

1- Most peoples who enjoy HxH are Berserk's fans too
2- Most of the characters who don't die wish they were dead at one point (maybe i'm going too far but feel like it sometimes)
3- That's a masterpiece
4- One of the most iconic villain in the whole japanese manga/animation industry come from HxH
we talking bout hisoka or meruem? bc hisoka atleast for now is more an anti-hero, and meruem in the end is probably the most likable villain ever.
@@3DJaguar I was talking about Hisoka, and yeah he is more of a anti-hero but he started of as a villain, and that was just a quick summary, and meruem is extremely good too

The 1999 version was quite darker than the 2011 and in my opinion was more fitting for some arcs compared to the 2011 one. The only regret I have is that it didn't cover all the existing arcs like the 2011 did.

For sure people are telling you to watch the 2011 version...I’d say watch 1999 version as well.
I actually think that if 1999 version had Chimera Ants, it would be much better than 2011.

Watch the 2011 one first then watch the 1999 version cause its easier to process and u will probably like it more than the 2011 cause it has LOADS of things that were never included in the 2011 one
