2018 Kia optima, just replace the two sensors and a week later it didn’t start at first, I️ was told to check my alternator any ideas ? Thank you for this video!!!
That's funny that you say that I just had my alternator go right out after changing the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor going to the junkyard to get one this Saturday an alternator. My car is a Chevy Cobalt 2009 LT 2.2L
I also just had this problem replaced coil packs it drove fine and got ready to leave for work and on the way my battery light came on volts started to drain and cluster went nuts had to buy a new battery just to get it back home now off to get a new alternator this weekend
Mechanic just replaced the crankshaft position sensor now I am get low pressure oil warning on and off with CEL. A little worried. Taking it in tomorrow via tow.
I own a 2005 Neon SXT with 135,000 miles on the OD. Was given to me by a son after a Ram dealer said it was worthless as a trade-in. It had 120K then and needed the timing belt kit installed and all three motor mounts. Got that done when it had 128K using a kit made by Gates. Before then I replaced the IAT and CPS sensors after their codes were thrown. The engine ran fine up to 134K when it began going into limp mode when driving uphill then going back to normal once it picked up speed going downhill to run normally for the next few days. Then it went into limp mode all day and every day. I drove it that way for the next six months by staying in town where posted speeds are 45 and lower. I finally got around to replacing the cam shaft target magnet which ended that problem. Two weeks later the egine began missing badly for 10 seconds then went back to normal. Checked the code when parked outside a store to find P0016 crank position sensor. The engine ran normally when restarted then started missing again then died after driving one mile. I put it in neutral to coast into a gas station parking lot. There the engine started but ran like a engine dieseling after being shut off. Had it towed home where I replaced the CKS. Now it would fire once when started then only crank afterwards. I inspected the CPS to find it drenched in motor oil with a crack in the back. I replaced it to find the engine would crank but not start. I called over a mobile tech to scan the ECM. The only code he found was the P0016. He looked over the engine and wiring real good then removed the connector to sensors which threw a code when cranking and disappeared after being reconnected. He inspected the new belt thru the inspection hole and the cam target magnet when I cranked the engine. Said the Neons cams were known to snap in two but mine was still in one piece. So I took his and another mechanics advice to send in the ECM for inspection and refurbishing. Sent it to one shop in Illinois that sent it back, saying that the CPU had become detached and couldn't be resoldered in place. So I bought a refurbished ECM with a 3 year warranty. Just got that installed and still have the crank but no start problem. I cranked the engine for 20 seconds to see if the ECM would throw any codes. It didn't even though the engine fired on one cylinder a few times during that time. I know it has plenty of fuel (plugs were wet afterwards plus plenty of gas came out into a container after removing the fuel line from the injector rack. The plugs, wires and coil were replaced when changing out the cam target magnet. The plugs are Denso, the wires, coil and sensors were made by Standard Motor Products. All the related fuses and relays are good so now I get to start the tedious process of checking all the wires for voltage and continuity. Think I'll start by replacing the CPS connector with the pig tail that came with the new sensor. SMP had a good reason to add one to the box.
2010 Toyota Camry V6 XLE seems to be working OK now after replacing 4 cam shaft position sensors except the front one is now going off bank 2 position a before it was bank 2 position B so I'll figure out which 1 of those is wrong but as far as we calibrating them I think it's done OK on its own but I would appreciate it if you could do a tutorial on the OBD2 scanners that have the case reset I read about crank angle sensor test or something can you please look into Rap for me Thank you
Magnets are weak on cheap ones, and when you do this clean your connections with electrical cleaner wd40 brand is good, do this with the battery disconnected and give a good 5 minutes and shake it to get any excess out, i hosed mine out pretty good, it dries fast but this is just being safe before you put power back thru. If your having problems not starting afterwards, unhook both your battery cables and touch them together but do not let them touch anything, wrap them with tape if you want, it'll drain residual energy from the electronics and drain capacitors. Let sit few hours or even over night. Also had an issue connectors clicked but didn't Click with a clean sound had grease and grime not letting the lock really set. Can use a multimeter and check your wires, 12v power and around 5-10 on signal wire, middle should be neutral, 3 wires. Should be pretty standard for most cars
I just had my crankshaft and camshaft replace but my engine light is still on along with my traction light . My car runs good but now is have trouble starting at times . I have a 2011 Toyota cam well my engine light ever go away? Do you have any advise for me?

I just had a engine mount installed, had 0 issues with my cam shaft sensor, one day later after installing engine mount my engine light lights up, I did a OBD on it and got the P000B code for Cam shaft sensor and the P0016 code, is it possible that while my mechanic installed the engine mount these codes came about due to repairing the engine mount?
Hello actually a decent video to be fair didn’t know this I replaced a cam shaft sensor last year now it’s gone again. I’ve noticed sludgy oil in the port could this be a problem and can I clean it out. Thanks in advance
why is my Toyota Venza v6 3.5L cranking but not starting after fixing a front timing leakage and cleaning ignition coils, cam sensors, timing sensors and mass airflow meter sensor?
Had a shop replace my crank shaft position sensor on my 2014 Hyundai v turbo and now it seems to either be in limp mode or something g like that surges at around 2500 rpm’s and the code came back for a crank sensor
. If I insert the camshaft crank sensor, but do not connect the wire connector, then it still runs fine. If I pull out the crankshaft sensor all together, then the car won't start My car runs fine for about 3 days, then the ECL comes on, but then i remove the Camshaft sensor, clean it, rotate the barrel part of it a bit as it seems really stiff, then it runs fine again for 3 days with no ECL very confusing

Hello, I have an 08 Toyota bB (Japanese car) with the k3-ve 4-cylinder vvt-i engine. I had a locksmith come by to program a key and ever since the car hasn’t started but it was starting fine and even driving before he arrived that same day. I am getting crank but no start and no spark at all to any of the plugs. Changed crank and cam sensors, spark plugs and coils but still same issue. I also had another locksmith and two mechanics look at it but they couldn’t find the issue. I changed the ecu today and still no changes. I did look at the board for the old ecu and it had a damaged/cracked/burnt transistor. Tomorrow I intend to try putting the same transistor from the old ecu in and hope it works. If anyone has any other suggestions in all ears.. Thank you.

I got a 2014 in put all new Crank sensors in our new pack change. The valve covers is everything running is running good but sometimes when I crank I get a good hesitation what did you do it run run great faster than before.
I have a replaced the Crankshaft Angle Sensor three times and each time the small magnet approx 1/4 had detached from its glued position with no other physical damage to body of the sensor, each time the magnet was retrievable. The sensors were purchased from the dealer and from Advance Auto Parts, the results were the same lasting one or two years. The installation in very time consuming due to the sensor mounted location to engine behind the timing belt. The vehicle is a Kia Optima 2.4l.

Hello everyone I just changed crankshaft sensor. But still showing the error code. First start i need starter solution. Later on it is working as good as new. Please help me in this Metter. I have Astra 1.7cdti 2005. Diesel. Been replaced many part. But still it not unable to self-start. Any help
my car is dual cam I was getting a P0340 so I replaced both sensors code cleared but now engine wont start ones a cheapo sensor and the other is an OEM replacement, if I unplug the cheapo sensor the car starts up and runs in limp mode should I take the chance and replace the cheapo sensor with matching brand? should I replace the crank sensor from the same brand too?
Please help looking for information replace Cam all lifters with a licensed mechanic. My truck went in with a bit of a tick from one of the lifters. I got it back and it sounds like a diesel. He can't explain it he says his work is quality don't know what to do please help
Sometimes the engine needs to be driven a bit before the valve train noise goes away. They could have also been installed wrong or the wrong-sized lifters installed. I would let the engine run a bit and see if it clears, if not the mechanic should fix it.
So a mechanic that was working on something else on my car accidentally broke the camshaft cap on my 03 Corolla. He replaced the cap, but a lot of people told me this is not right & that he owes me a new head! Is this right? The day after my car didn’t want to start & I had to get towed! After I got towed it started right up. I don’t know what he did..
I changed both camshaft sensors at same time but when start my car it's running really rough and sounds like it's not getting any oil. I have a 2014 hyundai elantra, any advice for me?

The point I’m getting at when you change the crank sensor replace it with the exact part manufacturer that came out from the vehicle not all manufacturer wire there crank sensor the same. You basically have to find the old part you had an match it up original. Not dealer part

Unless you take the fuse under the hood so its not detected while disconnecting it and reinstalling a new one...fucking stupid system..thats how they make there money....theres some good people out there..that can help you out.. I have a 2014 Chevy traverse and I replaced my cam sensor about a month ago and now I'm getting p0016 error code on my odb2 and my car doesn't want to turn over but eventually it starts. I've got a new crankshaft position sensor getting put in this weekend by my friend and I sent him your video and he works on cars all the time, I'm not getting the error code for the crankshaft position 1 center, I'm getting a code saying that cam shaft position 1 sensor and crankshaft position One sensors are not communicating properly. What do you think it is?
I’m no expert whatsoever but it sounds like you also need to replace the crankshaft sensor like you mentioned cuz your new cam sensor isn’t communicating well with it like this video explains

Senior video sing sharp if you could give me any guidance appointment in a direction and be awesome.
Just replaced Cam sensor in my 96 bmw 328i and when reconnected the wires i must have disconnected my air injection sensor but i dont have any idea where the wire is at and there is no crank now.
I replaced the camshaft positioning sensor but not the crankshaft i was going to change that one too would you recommend that? Wires look good but i was told it could be a dirty fuel filter ?
I would follow the codes that were given. A Cam sensor or Crank sensor code is different from a clogged fuel filter code. If you have multiple codes, there may be multiple issues.
I changed the crankshaft position sensor and my truck runs it turns on but all the sudden shuts off sometimes it runs for 5 minutes sometimes for half an hour with no hesitation just shuts off what can that do

So many details from each move but my Kia always ran and started, well, I might add. Changed sensor, engine light came back, same code P0346. Purchased OE Kia part. Now Kia’s speech (on screen) says get to mechanic “When you can”. I’m going to change fuse again. This was the first thing I did. If I come up with answers or possibly solutions, I’ll share.

I have a 2001 GMC Sonoma just replaced the crank shaft sensor it starts and idles but as soon as it reaches 3000 RPM it just dies any ideas
You have to do the relearn procedure. A youtube video showed a guy use a brand new "vident iLink 400" for $156 from ebay and it fixed his 5.3L GM
I replaced both and the codes are still there and car won't even start. I have a chevy cavalier.
I replaced both too and my car runs poorly now and won’t shift correctly. ‘98 Cavalier 2.4L. I’ll let you know if I find anything out, going to take it to a mechanic likely
@haydenolsen4241 did you get it fixed
Hello everyone I just changed crankshaft sensor. But still showing the error code. First start i need starter solution. Later on it is working as good as new. Please help me in this Metter. I have Astra 1.7cdti 2005. Diesel. Been replaced many part. But still it not unable to self-start. Any help
Crankshaft sensor kereta sy leaking tapi lepas sy buka, cuci & tukar oil seal selepas psg balik keluar check enjin & O/D. Dah kena tukar sensor pulak.
my car is dual cam I was getting a P0340 so I replaced both sensors code cleared but now engine wont start ones a cheapo sensor and the other is an OEM replacement, if I unplug the cheapo sensor the car starts up and runs in limp mode should I take the chance and replace the cheapo sensor with matching brand? should I replace the crank sensor from the same brand too?
Always use Oem on ignition parts
The magnets are weak in cheap ones

Please help looking for information replace Cam all lifters with a licensed mechanic. My truck went in with a bit of a tick from one of the lifters. I got it back and it sounds like a diesel. He can't explain it he says his work is quality don't know what to do please help
Sometimes the engine needs to be driven a bit before the valve train noise goes away. They could have also been installed wrong or the wrong-sized lifters installed. I would let the engine run a bit and see if it clears, if not the mechanic should fix it.
I have Camry 08 I change the head gasket then, everything is correctly, the starter is turning but coils not firing
Camshaft cap? New head? That seems a little extreme
I changed both camshaft sensors at same time but when start my car it's running really rough and sounds like it's not getting any oil. I have a 2014 hyundai elantra, any advice for me?
Hyundai - trade it in for another car
@@buzzlight2nd1 can't really trade in something you can't drove. But it's been figured out thank you, I just had to do a little research myself. It was a matter of changing the oil control valve.
@kathytaylor5680 so after the oil control valve was changed... you no longer had the issue? Hyundai Santa fe I'm working on btw
I just had my camshaft and crankshaft replace and my engine light is still on along with my traction light . My car starts but takes longer to start. Do you have any advice?

Is it possible the engine has only 1 cam position sensor? 09 camry 4 banger. Also its a 2 wire, not a 3 wire.
Yes, some vehicles have only 1 Cam sensor, and the older sensors can have 2 wires.

Can I buy a new crank shaft sensor and kam sensor and just put them back in with out reprogramming them Jeep Cherokee 2007 model thanks
Not with the jeep my friend..needs to be. programmed in.thats how they have programmedcthere ecu.
Unless you take the fuse under the hood so its not detected while disconnecting it and reinstalling a new one...fucking stupid system..thats how they make there money....theres some good people out there..that can help you out..

Mine don't start at all and dude brought over a snap on sollus edge and his scanner doesn't show my sensor at all. Idk what's up. Wire gets 5 volts so maybe someone can tell me and what I've been told there is no fuse for it it's ran off same fuse as the computer

I’m no expert whatsoever but it sounds like you also need to replace the crankshaft sensor like you mentioned cuz your new cam sensor isn’t communicating well with it like this video explains

engine cranks but wont start. Tachometer does not move while cranking. 2010 Nissan Titan
Why would the tachometer move while cranking? If the engine isn’t starting the tach shouldn’t be showing any rpm’s 😳

@@HVAC_Mechanic the crankshaft position doesn’t always throw a code.. there’s not always a code thrown for a variety of issues but I wish there was

I’ve changed my camshaft sensor A, bank 2 on my Kia Sorrento.
My Kia came up with engine light and speech (on screen) to get to mechanic “Soon” initially.
