  • In this video we demonstrate how to remove the foam from a foam-filled tire in order to switch to an air-filled tire. The method we show in this video is a little bit hard physically and takes time, but at the same time, it is a way of preseving the tire (in case all you want to do is switch the foam for an inner tube), and does not require power tools. Another way of doing this repair is to cut the tire using a dremel with cutting wheel (or other powered cutting device) and then pull out the foam before removing the tire.
    We use a Bugaboo Buffalo wheel in this video, but other common foam-filled wheels include the Bugaboo Cameleon and most of the BabyJogger line.

    This is so good and easy!
    I was looking to change the foam tyres of my kids’ bicycle for days now., and just bcz it doesnt have the hole for the nozzle I thought I will have to buy the whole rim as well.
    But you just gave a great idea of drilling through the rim for that space!
    I will get the tyre tube today itself!
    Thank you! 👍🏻

    I'd definitely invest in some Park Tools tyre levers if you're planning on doing this yourself.
    1) they have benefits such as plastic outers help protect the wheel rim, or rounded edges more designed for removing tyres.
    2) if you put pressure on a screwdriver and it slips, and hits your hand... it'll hurt and potentially cut you.

    As you mention at about 8:15 mark, if you have access to power tools a cheap angle grinder (Harbor Freight sells a cordless Bauer for $30 - every home should have one) fit with a cutting disc this gets a lot easier. Just remember to cut the tire on a diagonal which is safer for the rim; in fact, you have less chance of damaging the rim with the cutter than digging into it with a screwdriver.

    Can this be done on the Uppababy Cruz v2? I would love an air filled tire mod on that stroller, even though it already rolls smooth.

    Thanks for this!
    We have a newer Babyjogger city Mini 2 which has wheels that are foam like themselves, not even rubber - and I'm wondering if tubes& rubber wheels could be mounted.
    Though I'm not even sure if the rim would accommodate and hold normal rubber wheels... How to find out - before ripping the existing wheel off and realising it won't work?

    If the outer rubber is damaged but I want to keep the foam, is it possible to just change the outside of the tire, keep the foam, and replace the outside only?

    Hi, can you do this on 2019 Cruz rear wheels?

    Abit confused here so the tyre your taking off is bad your struggling because of the foam scratching and denting your plastic rims if the tyres bad rather than nagging the rim wouldn't if just be easier to cut the tyre off would of tuck you a few seconds? Nothing negative just confused on why you would make more work for yourself an have been possibility of denting or scoffing your rims

      And wouldn't think you'd need power tools you could do this with a standard knife ect

      Yes, but I was trying to demonstrate that you can keep the tire as well (thinking about other brands / models that don't use standard 12" tires, where it can be very difficult to get new tires). For the Buffalo specifically, it is easier just to cut the tire. :)

    Did you use a bugaboo specific wheel as the replacement or just a generic brand ?

      It depends on the stroller. You basically need to find the same sized tire as the foam-filled one that you had from before. This video on identifying tire-size may help: ruclips.net/video/S5pDDoQWDlk/видео.html

    I have the same problem with the baby jogger city select front wheels, you think i have a chance to find a compatible tire ?

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo

      This one is a bit harder than the Crusi, you probably could find something that would work by hunting online, but it wouldn't necessarily be worth the effort vs just getting a new set of wheels for the Select, imo.

      Maybe you can find the wheels you need on eBay.

      thank you! I will try this! Do you have any video on it by chance?

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  6 лет назад

      No, unfortunately, but the process is the same. In fact, Cameleons are the model I most do this with, as I love Cameleon tires and like to use them on other strollers. One note though, if the foam inside the tire is damaged, then it is good to replace it with an inner tube, but if you're replacing the foam to get better shock absorption, the effect is minimal in my experience, and the trade-off in the future is potential puncture headaches.

    I wouldn't put my thumb in the way of the screwdriver like that;anything goes wrong and injury will result

    Hi
    I have the stokke crusi and one of the front wheels are damaged. I want to replace the two of them to a air tires but I'm not sure that there is enough place because of the wheel frame.
    I don't wanna start the project and find that i don't have a wheel for my stroller.

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  4 года назад

      The front frame is the same, so you can swap for the Trailz front wheels without problems. When it comes to the rear wheels, you need to make a small alteration, shown in this video: ruclips.net/video/ofXPitfn85Y/видео.html
