Only recently found your channel keV 😉 Kev's shed. I have a Mini cooper s R52. Really enjoyed and learnt a lot. If I wasn't an OAP I'd love to buy you an electric wrench 😉🤣👍
Awesome video Kev. Also busy rebuilding my rear callipers on a R53. Got everything done but after struggling for about 1hr20m to fit the spring back into the piston, i decided it was time to go to youtube for advice. Took me about three hours to find this video which relates to my calliper. Horrified when you did not demonstrate how to get the damn spring seated. Please if you have a moment, would really appreciate a short explanation of how to succeed.
Found just pushing down progressively with something like a flat blade screwdriver until you can make it clip in under the lip at top works. Doesn't actually take a lot of force.
@@KevsShed Thanks for the reply but I'm interested in exactly what you used to seat the spring since it's larger than the piston opening. I'm struggling with seating mine.
Youre lucky its not a clubman. the 2013 clubman outer boot doesn't stretch over the piston hole on the caliper.... it has to fit into a groove on the caliper making it difficult to fit once the piston is already screwed in. Cant find anyone thats done the rear with this different boot style.
I've come across those before. Pain in the assss. Fit boot first as you say (making sure it's fully seated in the groove) then fit piston and use a healthy smear of red rubber grease to ease things together and prevent the piston pulling the seal baxk out.

Hello mate
Did you succeed wirh spring. Im about to give up. 😫
I'm in the same boat. There must be a knack or a tool.
Man, you're doing a great job.👌
Thanks man! Means a lot! 👍🏻
Any ideas on getting that spring in? Kev even a quick walk through of the way you got in would be amazing
Good video Sir. I'm going to buy a refurb kit and tackle one on my R56.
Ultrasonic cleaner looks the dogs.
Great video - Here's the question though ! How to get the spring back into the piston. 2hrs now - Does the answer involve the ghost of Paul Daniels ?
Hi Kev what size is your altrasonic washer please as thinking of getting one many thanks Bill
I think it was 15 litre from memory, I think I linked it in the video description 👍🏻
Is there a trick to putting spring in. Would of helped to show the 30secs.

That ultrasonic bath looks awesome. Do you put just normal tap water in it?
I used deionised water and ultrasonic cleaner solution mate, I’ll find you a link to the solution if you like 👍🏻
This is the cleaning solution that I use bud. ebay.us/TvPxHD
I'm interested in how you installed and seated the internal piston spring. Bench vise and lots of cursing?
As it happened, it went in really easily! I wish I had video’d it now!

im stuck - thinking of making something like a mini piston ring compressor tool.
