- Join us in this video for breakfast at Wasdale National Trust Campsite before taking a walk up to the summit of Englands highest mountain - Scafell Pike before a leisurely run back down to the campsite.
Thanks for the video. We camped on that site (not a good site) and walked up and down. Took 6 hours. I found it very tough going. It was over 30C heat and I was 69 at the time. A great and memorable day. Fabulous part of the world.
Glad you enjoyed your climb, it’s a great route with some fantastic views, especially at the start looking back towards Wastwater. We’ve stayed at the NT camp site once and found it pretty good. It was quiet though being February but thought the facilities were very good. Thanks so much for watching, appreciate it 👍
It is refreshing to see how you two are running down the hill .. That's the best part of the video ..
Thanks so much Stan, absolutely love the downhills! Such a scenic route 👍
Quality video! Even got to share your camp site breakfast with the little robin!
Thank you. Just something a little different. We were treated to many appearances of robins. Delightful little birds 😊
Bit better day for it anyway. Might do similar Tuesday morning thank you once again for sharing your time
Very jealous, you’re a very lucky man! Appreciate you’re comments as alway. Thank you 😊
lol my neck of the woods - wasdale valley is indeed a beautiful place - thanks for sharing this with us- stay safe and well
It’s the perfect location, we loved our time there. Especially the short walk to the Wasdale Inn! 😊
@@TrailRunningCouple lol Ritsons bar does do a lovely pint of real ale - and yes a short stagger back to tent 😂
Nice content. Do we have to book ahead of time if we want to pitch a tent and how much is the rate
Hi and thank you! Yes, you would need to pre book to guarantee a spot. Not sure of the exact prices and they would change due to season. In any case with it being National Trust they’re very competitive and the camp site is really good 👍
Will be taking on scafell pike in April via the same route.
It's a cracking route, hope you have a great day and look forward to your video 👍
So you made the whole trip (up and down) in just 2 hours and 4 minutes ? Amazing ..
Yes, would have been slightly quicker if we hadn’t have faffed about on the summit! We didn’t intend to run down, was planned to be a walk up and down after we had ran hard a couple of days prior but sometimes you just can’t resist the technical downs! Appreciate you watching and taking time to comment. It’s a lovely way up and down from the campsite 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple I will be in Lake District in 1 week (for the very first time) and I plan going to Scafell Pike - if the weather is good ..
That's a very good time seeing as you walked up. What was the split, 1:30 up and 35 mins down?
Thanks, your estimation of splits is pretty much spot on. This was after a failed Bob Graham attempt so just went up with the intention of walking but once on the summit felt the need to run down!
Thanks - I saw your Bob Graham video. You still got a lot of ground covered and probably still covered a small Ultra 😀
@@burrianaUK Thanks, I just think we picked the wrong time of year for an unsupported attempt! Oh well, another time…
Can you camp en route ?
We camped at the bottom at Wasdale Campsite, as for wild camping I guess so but not something we’ve done 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple great good to know
Thank you
