in regards to the passport situation. if you're going off the ship on an official shore excursion with the cruise itself you won't need the passport but if you were to go off on your own or do a 3rd party excursion you should always have your passport on you just incase of an emergancy that stops you from making it back to the ship before it leaves.
Chris already hit on it, but I would highly recommend looking into doing excursions that are offered from the ship before looking else where. If something happens to a ship excursion or there is a delay they will wait; however, if you do your own booked thing, they won’t wait and you may need to figure out how to get to the next port, which is not fun. Also get your group together and book all your excursion as soon as you can because they fill up fast.

You can carry a passport card with you. Just like a drivers license won’t get ruined in water, but is acceptable for land crossing (does not work for flying into another country)

On the passport info, the reason Disney wants you to bring a passport is in case of a medical emergency or something else you might have to get off in another country or unscheduled port. They did check our passport in Nassau, but I don’t think they stamped it.
Yes! I always bring a passport because if there's an medical emergency and have to stay in that country for medical attention/services, you'll need it to fly back to home.
I got that waterseals bag because of you mentioning it on your Disney Magic cruise just before Covid. Didn't end up using it on our first cruise, but will be bringing it on our Mexican Riviera cruise next year.
I went on a West Med Europe cruise, and Yes the pre excursion breakfast buffet is a pre fuel. And yes, I was over 18 stone at the time, but no donuts for breakfast, the pre fuel has to be an omelette.

When you run out of that hot chocolate mix, you can buy from any grocery store Mexican chocolate called Abuela's (grandma's) by Nestle. They have pie shaped notches on the disc and you can break off and just melt in a pan with some milk.
Oh and don’t be afraid to skip an excursion at a stop and just explore the city. If you talk to the concierge on the ship, they can give you suggestions on places it’s better to just go and enjoy or things you should go and see.
Make sure you understand the difference between ship time and shore time. Some cruise lines don't change the clocks with the local time. If you don't know what time it is on shore, you could miss your excursion or not get back to the ship on time.

You can do both but if you do it on the ship, there's a possibility that the excursion can be sold out or will have to take a later time excursion rather than an early one. I personally book excursions, on the DCL website, once they're available.
How long was your in port time. We are taking a cruise through disney to Cozumel out of Galveston and the shore time is only six hours. Is that enough time?
