- My 10th MG kit, RM 176 (USD $50). Finished it in 7 hours excluding stickers and decals. Didn't apply the decals though because this kit is trying to torture me as MG Unicorn did. Only panel-lined so far... The song i used is Mamai Kawada's "Prophecy" from the anime Shakugan no Shana S.
so many influences from the pg red frame design and I LIKE IT!
mkay thanx a lot for the information that makes me happy :)
Oh those parts. I might buy an Akatsuki if my Astray (I'm getting one for Xmas.) comes with those parts.
Yes. Gundam marker can be erased with an eraser easily before it dries, but don't erase in a direction parellel to the panel lines or you will erase them completely.
Yeah, I also use a penknife to scrap off excess paints/marker ink. Quite effective but be careful. Or try using the sharp edge of a toothpick.
wow, the dry transfers look cool (well at least the redo ones ^^ i can't see the white)
but the other ones in a weird yellow paper (for example the one that says: mbf-p03r gundam astray blue frame second revise.) are water slide decals? or just stickers with a clear "base"
@gundamexia
Yeah, thats why you have to erase 90degrees from the panel line, like, the line is vertical down. you erase horizontally from the side, smoothly and gently. You can even "control" how thick you want your panel line be by erasing how hard.
@kefkaownsall
That's 1st release batch bonus part, where a few types of adaptors are given so that you can make other SEED gunplas use Striker backpacks, just like how this MG Astray can use Strike/Akatsuki's backpacks.
love the Tactical Arm sword
Song is by Mami Kawada, yeah, her voice is same as Kotoko. I was lazy to paint... Especially the white sections on the fingers...
Won it in a competition? Wow, never thought a competition would give away newly-released kits as gifts...
Yup. That's why a support stand is included - havent touched that yet... still wrapped in plastic... xD
A tutorial on panel line? I'll consider that... Anyway i used the standard Gundam Marker for panel lining, and yeah, the lines are still thick no matter how fine the tip of the marker is. You need to erase the lines from the side of the panel line slightly with an eraser before it dries up. It still can be erased after the ink dries but harder. For small areas like the head, you need to make sure your eraser has sharp edges, like a new eraser to reach those areas.
Nice use of music, KOTOKO?
I'm still debating or whether or not to paint mine. It's a balancing choice between the nice paint finish and the risk of losing anime accuracy.
The stand is meant to hold the sword only, not the whole Gundam. My stand in still unopened in the box so i can't help much... XD You knew that there's a round hole on the tactical arms that connects to the rack on the back right? That hole is also used for connecting with the stand. However, the new and upcoming Red Frame Kai's stand seems to be able to hold the Gundam.
Dun pry open parts with bare fingers. YOu kinda pull slightly with your fingers from both sides until the seam line becomes visible slightly. Then, stop pulling, use a pen knife, dip the blade into the seam line and slowly turn the knife around to try and push both parts that are fixed together apart. Push evenly from all sides or u mite break the internal peg connections.
That sounds odd to me... If the neck joint is compatible then no problem. This MG has a ball joint neck with a polycap in the head, as usual in most gunplas.
hahah... I didn't apply any dry decals, was too lazy. The special markings you see is from the yellow sheet -clear stickers!! If you know the exact method to apply stickers properly, they might just look invisible, except at a closer look. The only kits i applied dry decal is Unicorn Ver Ka and my 3 MG Strikes.
Yup, the knees. I had to disassemble it twice because of my mistake at the knees... Got confused by the manual... ^^;
I like anorexic designs instead of bulky designs because I'm the type who likes Gundams that are fast, or look fast. That's why i liked SEED Gundam designs. EWven MG Red Frame Kai is comin out in February...
is this like the first one where i think the sword was too heavy for it to hold up?
If anyone did commented on my vid earlier, sorry if you noticed your comments are missing. Error occurred in my account and i had to delete the vid and re-upload again...
Hahah... u suffered frm this kit too? I was damn pissed of how complicated the knee was and had to dissamble both legs twice each bcuz wrong construction... Lucky that i knew how to disassemble gunplas without breaking them... =.=
coupon thing? I have no idea..., Is it packed separately or it is a section on the manual you have to cut out?
Mine had the SEED VS Astray adaptor set, being the among the earliest to grab it... Usually every gunpla box has a coupon like thing attached to the manual, fully in japanese, but that's for Japan use only, where you can order parts that are missing or damaged when you buy it.
It sounds problematic though, I'd just ask from an exchange from the seller if this happens.
this kit comes with load off weapons which its awesome loll
huh? 00 Gundam? i don't have a single Gundam 00 S2 kit yet... XD Because i expected Bandai to bash the kits (they did) and the 1/100 version is too pricey. I'd prefer to wait for MG version... ^^;
is it possible to switch the mg head with the ng head? i like the design of the ng head a bit better :)?
Sadly, no... But mine had the limited backpack adaptors.
I knew how to disassemble a kit properly, so making mistakes is not a prob for me... MG unicorn's leg is worse, and the toughest MG you can try on is Zeta 2.0 besides the EX-S and FAZZ. This kit is not really tough, except the knees. I finished it in 7 hours. On Shin Musha, i wasnt interested... It's juz a Gundam in a game, never really existed in a series or OVA...
LOL yeah... Even i had the full set of tools and sanders but i was just lazy... I built this in a rush -in my campus' hostel... Most of my gunplas go to my hostel... XD
LOL it really amuses me that every single modeller who worked on this kit complained the knees... ^^; The manual is just isn't clear enough...
What was the bonus part?
does it come with a beam rifle/shield?
@jharmain1
"Prophecy" by Mami Kawada.
where you buy this kit..???
Where did u buy it??
hey are u malaysians
although it may be abit on the comlex side for such a scale...still i think the legs are too anorexic tho..
sell me it!
.zzzz u got so many nub marks lol
Sadly, no... But mine had the limited backpack adaptors.
