I met Matt in January 2008 at a PS seminar in Cincinnati - my very first foray into the world of PS. And as a result of this seminar, I have become an admitted Photoshop-aholic. Thank you Matt for that eye-opening seminar; for everything you've taught us and for everything you will continue to educate us on in the world on LR and PS.
I love the fact that you suggest doing this as a brush. I used another tutorial that suggested creating it in Illustrator, but for some reason I was still finding edges that weren't smooth even when scaling it down. This produces beautiful results! Thank you.
Matt, thank you so much for this 'in plain English' tutorial! I found this 4 years ago and had to go searching through my youtube history to find you again (I changed operating systems and consequently lost all my presets I'd previously made).
I can't believe ho easy this was. I love that because it is a brush I can easily change the color to suit every photo. You are amazing at clearly explaining things. Thank you.
That’s one of the best tutorials I’ve come across..... most are usually a huge ego trip for the over excited presenter, but here Matt has given a highly informative solution to a useful topic..... I’ve saved this.... unlike most tutorials which I consign to the rubbish bin! 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You are an excellent teacher. I look forward to trying your logo package. Thank you for the clear instruction. Great video!
Man, I've been looking up a bunch of methods and ideas to come up with my own brand logo, and this is the ONLY thing I've come across so far that tells you hot to CUSTOMIZE the font! This is perfect! Thank you, Matt. You're amazing!
that was really helpful! Been trying out different styles to put on my photos, and ive never been happy with the result, after watching your vid i finally managed to satisfy myself. Thank you!
Thanks for the quick and informative tutorial! One tip that might be helpful to someone is that Photoshop will not allow you to convert text to shape if it has a Faux Bold style for some reason. If the font you select has that style, it is turned on by default in the Character Palette. Reset the characters to "Standard Ligatures" and you are good to go for the conversion.
Strange, I was just thinking I need to do something like this and up pops your notification! Great tutorial, will give the toolkit a look. Thanks for sharing!
Just bought this one Matt and you have outdone yourself. While all your courses are terrific and I pick up ideas and practices with every one this one is really something. I have watched stuff on creating watermarks and even have an action for doing it. But you cover the whole topic of creating a great logo and then getting it available as a watermark. Bravo.
ThanksMatt - great as always. I had used the pen tool and created a logo but unless you have outstanding handwriting your method is a whole lot easier.
Just watched another tutorial similar to this but got stuck with the spacing which was not mentioned. Came searching for more info, found this and I've got everything I need! THANK YOU!
Great tutorial. I appreciate that you don’t rush the lesson and you speak clearly and plainly. Unfortunately for me I’m working on an iPad Pro and my menu and tabs do not look anything like this and is very limited. Do you have a tutorial specifically for iPad Pro?
This is exactly what I was looking for and found your tutorial by accident. I"m so glad I did. Thank you. You're a great instructor. I plan to take it a step further and invest in your logo and watermark kit soon!
The most likely explatation is that the image you are trying to define as a brush is over 2500 x 2500 pixels. 2500 pixels square is the maximum size for a brush in photoshop. If you make it 2500 x2500 pixels or less, you should be able to select the Define Preset Option in the Edit Menu
Fantastic video. Taught me so many new things about watermarks. I however would like to know how do I use this watermark (set as Brush preset in Photoshop) for images edited in Lightroom.

I have been saving signatures and logos as PSD that I open and copy over to the work in progress, but I can see several advantages to having them as a brush. Nice. Saved.
Hi Matt, thank you for the great tutorial. I went ahead and made the logo, however I can't get the brush to transfer to the photo page. Is there a way I can save this and transfer my watermark to Keynote?
great help! but how do i take this method and apply watermark or my logo onto a photo or multiple photos in lightroom? Do I have to use photoshop for this process? Also when i create the new layer with the brush tool, I have to click multiple times before the text begins to darken and come through. what settings do i need to adjust to make the it appear white with 100% opacity with one click?
So I did this and it worked and I love it. But I didn’t save the original file after saving it as a brush. Is there a way to get the original file back using the brush set?
I was doing ok until the end. What are right and left brackets tools? I hit B for brush and multiple signatures came into my photo and I couldn’t get rid of them! Every time I touched the photo more signatures came! I’m so overwhelmed with PS 2024. Any suggestions as to what I’m doing wrong? Thank you
Hi. Until you change brush you're using, the brush will always work the same as always. It takes on the shape of the brush and will apply when you click. You can change brushes or tools to get away from that. As for brackets, if you're using a non english keyboard you can google search what brackets are for your keyboard.
Hi i followed all the steps up to select all 15.0 m, but when i go to edit, i don't have the option to select define brush preset, only define pattern is available ????
Do you have any suggestions on what to do when the Define Brush Preset is greyed out? I have everything made and am excited to use this but I cannot turn it into a brush :(
Great tutorial! I have a few problems though... whenever I make a logo and then try to apply it to a photo with the brush created it's not sharp like yours but a bit blurry. Any ideas why?
Hi, I followed this step by step to make my own. But when adding it to my pics it comes out a grey colour and not white and I can't see where I change the colour to make it white, can you help?
Great video and I learned so much. Worked on a new logo and made it into a brush (had never done that). The only problem I had was when I clicked on the new layer with the brush logo, it wouldn't "release" I guess you could say. Something I'm missing so will try and figure it out. Wonderful video and easy to learn how to be creative! Thanks!
Thanks for that great tutorial. Finally I have a nice logo for my photos. This video also made me buy the linked toolkit and little bit other stuff. I'm only a beginner (since August this year) but I practise daily and have learned lots in the meantime.
Matt's editing tips + Mark Galer's wealth of Sony knowledge = Photographer gold mine

Because of you! I was able to make my own logo!!!! Thank you so so so much
Wow the way you explain things smoothly helps so much. A lot of ppl speed through or dont have voice overs just more pointing. Thanks
Absolutely the most valuable and easy to use "how to" for logos I have seen! Thanks so much Matt for all you do for the community.
Lots of stuff I learned in just a few minutes! Thank you !!
Thank you. I did not realize you could change fonts like that so neat.

Hi Matt,
Thank you very much for this tutorial. Now I can add watermark to my photographs.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you! You made it easy. The brush technique near the end was superb.
Thank you for taking the time to create this video.
This teaches what it says it teaches and in a very simple way. Thank you
Ha! I wish I had watched this before I made an "ugly" signature. Onwards and upwards! Thanks again Matt! Making my work look good since 2005
Thanks Matt 👍
It's so nice to have the capability to do customization...and escape the basic watermark that Lightroom's export function offers.
Strange, I was just thinking I need to do something like this and up pops your notification! Great tutorial, will give the toolkit a look. Thanks for sharing!
Glad to help :-)
This is absolutely fantastic! There's so much you can do with this. Thanks!

Brilliant information. Thank you
Awesome Awesome Awesome! I learned more than I previously knew!
Hi Matt - wonderful tutorial that made sense and worked. I tried a few others and just got lost and frustrated.
Awesome tips and tutorial Matt

Sorry. I do not.

This was magic from a to z or as photographers say, from edge to edge! thank you so much!
Thanks for this tutorial Matt!
Define brush preset is grayed out for me no matter what I do 😔
Did you find out how to fix it ??
Same here and I followed it step by step

Fantastic video. Taught me so many new things about watermarks. I however would like to know how do I use this watermark (set as Brush preset in Photoshop) for images edited in Lightroom.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it was so helpful!
Right up my alley Matt💗👉🏿cool beans😎. Thank you kind sir. I will be sharing this 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks you for this tutorial.
When I get to edit > define brush tool, its not highlighted. Any reason why?
I'm having the same problem
Did you find out why ?????
If the starting image is too big, it won't work. Resize the image down and it should be fine.

Hi Matt. Thanks for the great video. In battling to save the signature as a Brush Preset as the define brush preset menu is grayed out. Please advice.
Hi. Please take a look through the comments as it was answered a few times. Thanks!
@@MattKloskowski will do, thanks.

Make your image smaller
It’s too big and larger than a brush size will allow
Simply brilliant. Thank you so so much, Matt!
Great tutorial Matt. Thank you.
Love this video! Thank you
Great tutorial, but how would you have changed color of the brush before you attached it to the photo, before sizing?
Thank you from the bottom off my heart!!!!!
Really nice job. I've been waiting for something like this for years.
Great tutorial!
I have a few problems though... whenever I make a logo and then try to apply it to a photo with the brush created it's not sharp like yours but a bit blurry.
Any ideas why?
Why don’t you reply to questions, Matt?
Hi, I followed this step by step to make my own. But when adding it to my pics it comes out a grey colour and not white and I can't see where I change the colour to make it white, can you help?

Hi Sue
If you want the brush shape to go away you have to select a different tool or different brush. Hope that helps
@@MattKloskowski thanks so much! I actually found I hadn't held the "click" hard enough to place the logo. It's those little things...
Thanks a lot ......You made it look easy
Amazing as always.
