I have watched almost seven or more youtube clips to learn how to create a signature in photoshop. None of them helped me to create a signature that I could add to my photos. Your clip was the BEST of them!!! Thank you very much for providing this information!!
Just imagine if ALL tutorials on here were this great!! So many people lack the ability to communicate succinctly on here and it just becomes pretentious waffle, the amount of videos Ive tried to learn and the guys haven't even scripted or thought out the aim or outcome,First class stuff can't wait to see more, definitely getting along to some classes, cheers!
The BEST tutorial ever!!! I have spent so many hours trying to watch different videos in hopes of learning how to do this. This video made something I thought was so hard, easy! Thank you!
Thank you Marc works great. Most helpful. I created the text in black and then created the png in a couple of different ways. I then created a brush for each. Now I just have to add a new blank layer, pick a color to suit the image.
Good tutorial. It's also possible, in Photoshop, to create a custom brush, and "stamp" it on a new layer on top of your photo. That way you can make it any color you want, resize it, and move it all around too.
One of the BEST videos on how to create signature / watermark for photographs... Honestly, I have seen numbers of videos on this topic but every time found something missing, something was not clear - something was not quite there... But this video was the answer... Outstanding work sir... I have created a beautiful signature in 3 colors (B,G and W) ... Now I simply love the my pictures with my new signature/watermark. Big Thank you!
Another great tutorial from you. You are a natural teacher, you make the pupil feel relaxed which makes the learning process so much easier. I'm off to download the fonts, thank you.
Thanks Marc. At last a lesson that I can use to create my own personalised logo. You have included all the steps needed to sucessfully complete the assignment. It's the little bits that others lweave out that creates confusion. Well Done!!!!
@@theschoolofphotography I am an aspiring portrait photographer. Keen on starting a parallel career in photography. Apart from the website, do I get any assistance with information over a call? This was just the biscuit! Exactly what I needed to know on how to create and use a watermark from scratch, cheers!! The only bit you didn't cover was how to add the watermark to LR and edit it, but I'm sure people will work it out!
Thankyou for a very logical and understandable video, I struggled for a few minutes dragging my signature on to my photograph but soon realised what I had done wrong, I subscribe to your courses and really enjoy then, thank you Marc.
Thank you for this great video - and especially for your awsome pronounciation. Although I'm no native speaker I can understand you better than most other English speaktin people. Best regards from Hamburg
Hi Marc ... I've been following your clip on RUclips on how to make a .PNG Signature file. However at the "Save" stage, I clicked on Photoshop (*.PSD,*PDD,*.PSDT) however the drop down menu in the Current Version of Photoshop does not give me the .PNG option. I have the Photoshop (*.PSD,*PDD,*PSDT), Large Document Format (*.PSB), Photoshop PDF (*PDF,*PDP), and the TIFF (*TIF,*TIFF) ONLY .... WHICH ONE DO I CHOOSE? Thanks Gordon

Great tutorial Marc. Why pay for a watermark when you can so easily make one yourself. Thank you for taking the time to share this. You are a great teacher. Love your tutorials.
Easy to follow and do. In my photoshop save as doesn't have a png so a bit of scratching the head thinking export it, and gives a options to save as a png. Job done. P.s hate lightroom and always use photoshop. Thanks again David
Nice tutorial, Mark. That said, if you want to be genuine, wouldn't it be more appropriate to sample an actual handwritten signature, digitize it and then use the resultant digital file as the foundation of your signature graphic? Can you make a tutorial that illustrates this sort of approach? Thanks.
It’s quick and easy to do, signing on a white piece of paper and taking a pic into Photoshop and creating the signature as a brush tool. Takes just a couple of minutes👍
Excellent tutorial, good sir! Thanks for taking the time to make these and help us newbies learn some of the basics! One question though: I've created my watermark in PS per your instructions and saved it to a common location on my hard drive, yet when I attempt to use it as a graphic in Lightroom, it's as if Lightroom doesn't see or recognize the PNG. Any suggestions?
Hi thanks for the comments. That's a bit complex to explain here but you can learn this in depth here www.theschoolofphotography.com/courses/lightroom-course-online

There's a third way to create a signature logo. If you're fortunate enough to own a graphics tablet, (I have a cheap Hanvon Art Master), you can practice creating yours by opening your preferred graphics program (with a layers feature),.. and writing your signature out with the tablet. 1). Connect your graphics tablet to your computer and make sure the pen pressure setting is on. This will give the written text some character. 2). Open your graphics program (Photoshop, Gimp etc). 3). Select the brush tool. 4). Go to the brush settings menu (Brush icon) and set the brush to a dark, preferably black colour. 5). Set up a blank transparent image with a dpi of 1000. Remember, you can always make a larger image and/or dpi smaller while keeping quality, not the other way around! Create a new layer and set it to white or black, this layer can be deleted prior to saving; it's just there so you can see what you're writing. 6). Add multiple layers, 20 is a good number to start with. Set image view size to 100% to make sure your image is being rendered at the best quality, (lower or higher view percentages will render with dodgy anti-aliasing). 7). Using your graphics tablet, start to write your signature (on the uppermost layer) as creatively as you want but don't do it in the way you sign any important documents! Think: creatively, not formally. Your logo is going to represent you and your work, your style, your mood, your talents. It's how you want others to immediately perceive who you are and what your work is. 8). Write your signature using your graphics tablet, several times per layer, 'hiding' each layer if you like any, (carefully erase any bad ones!!) or deleting the written-on layers if you don't. Don't stress yourself, just relax and get a feel for how the pen is writing, how your wrist flows as you do it and study your signature each time to determine what you need to practice to get it looking 100%. 9). Repeat as many times you need to or until you see a signature you're really happy with. pay attention to how the design looks BIG and SMALL (in the preview window). 10). When you have a design you're really happy with, save it as a .png file with a transparent background. Do this for a dark design and also a bright design. There's nothing wrong with having a mid-tone grey one either. I hope this helps. :) Top tip: If the pen seems too 'free floating' or it's slipping too easily on the surface of your graphics tablet, cut out a sheet of fine paper to the same dimensions as the touch-pad area and tape it down at the corners (or use blu-tack etc) to give the pen a textured surface to write on, it'll aid in better traction as you write.

Great tutorial. I really like the clear presentation of steps and actions. One thing that occurs to me is (as just a Joey photographer, no business but interested in retaining my copyright to my images). Including a Signature Logo as you suggest (i.e. Joe Blogs Photography), almost implies a corporate status. Just wondering as a amateur, if saying 'Joe Blogs Photography' has any legal ramifications ? As a non professional, should it not record something along the lines of Joe Blogs © 2001 ? Sincere question and I would appreciate some guidance as to correct and legal approach. Thank you
