The message says at 5:56 PlayStation kikaku no discude wa arimasen! (Insert a PlayStation formatted disc) It happens because the libcrypt is from another region (NTSC-J =/= NTSC U/C). Also your laser is suffering (I suppose is a KSM-440AAM)... You should it repair. The SCPH-1000 check less the protection on disc, so it's fast at reading. Also, the SCPH-1000 softlock so easily on the libcrypt reading.
Thanks SRS, appreciate the insight. Repairable, but probably more trouble than it’s worth. I suppose if there’s enough interest I can create a follow-up to take a closer look and investigate further/replace the dead motor. But more likely I’ll probably be installing an ODE in this SCPH-1000 unit, more to come later
Cannot seem to find the comment now but someone posted information regarding the other port [next to the expansion port] is a serial port for linking PS1 consoles together, mentioned this in later videos but posting here for more visibility. Credit to user r.c.f.p.g for the original comment. The original Playstation link cable (SCPH-1040) is utilized to connect two PS1 consoles to play compatible multiplayer games on those linked consoles. It's a 12-pin inline serial cable incompatible with PSOne or future iterations of the playstation console lineup (such as PS2, etc). I found the following list through a google search, not sure if it's exhaustive or complete however someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in: Andretti Racing Armored Core Armored Core: Master of Arena Armored Core: Project Phantasma Assault Rigs Blast Radius Bogey Dead 6 Burning Road Bushido Blade Bushido Blade 2 Car and Driver Presents: Grand Tour Racing CART World Series Command & Conquer: Red Alert Command & Conquer: Red Alert - Retaliation Cool Boarders 2 Dead in the Water Descent Descent Maximum Destruction Derby Doom Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown Dune 2000 Final Doom Formula 1 Formula ’98 Grid Runner (Files Allude to its Inclusion - Hidden though?) Innnnnnnnteresting, thanks for the comment and additional information about the laser, very helpful. I’ll look into this further.
@@DudePingu Check my last video on my channel about the laser repairing.
Take care!
Pinning this comment so others can see it as well, thanks again
Happy 30th Birthday Playstation
Can’t believe it’s been 30 years already. The time never comes back.
Disc drive is indeed struggling, but might be repairable, have to level out the plastic wear that most likely has occured over time.
Nice video.

*nice but laser next to power adaptor was bad*
Aahhhhh. I wish I checked this earlier. I’ll revisit this at some point
