I did the same. I recently noticed my business line with Vonage was $47 a month with all the fees. I decided to look around as I had Vonage for 15 years and I knew there had to be cheaper VOIP and I found Ooma which now cost me just under 16$ a month. So from 46$ down to 16$ a month.
How has Ooma worked for you? I've been considering it but keep finding horror stories of people whose numbers were lost or were unable to change how they paid the bill. My family's had the same number for over 30 years; I don't want to lose it.
Hey man sorry people are smashing on ya more than the like button in these here comments. I found it good to know, some of those details. Thanks for the video.
You can try... but I think you have to use someone's computer to do the setup and after installation/registration you can connect directly to your WIFI router using the ethernet cable connected to your home phone. Once done, the person with the computer can click off the magicJack screen but you will be connected through your ethernet cable. Once setup you don't need use of a computer, but you do need a home phone (not a cell phone).
They don't mention that the 911 fee is on top of all the other costs which is something like $6 to $60 a year depending where you live. It is a surprise email you receive after registration. Still a good deal with Ooma being second least expensive.
How well does this work for you? Currently have spectrum cable voip, looking to switch it up (if its a reliable choice). I had the original where it needed the pc 24/7 and it was garbage.
Honestly it's been working great. The first week I made many calls and no one realized that I had changed service. There was only 2 times that I called the device and the calls did not go through but it has never happened again since that day. So it might have been my internet service that time.
Question 1: Yes, you need internet. Question 2 & 3: If you are not trying to keep a phone number you already have then skip the porting section (no fee), MJ will give you a new phone number in the area code you pick.
I've had Magic Jack for years - and moved up to Magic Jack at some point. Recently - this year my Magic Jack Go has screwed up my internet! I ordered a new a new one thinking my Magic Jack Go was just old and malfunctioning. BUT THE NEW ONE did the same thing! Somehow its screwing with my internet and its useless while plugged in. I unplug it and my internet goes back to working.
Try this to see if its actually the device or the issue is coming from somewhere else on your network. Get a laptop (Windows) and connect it to the internet either using Wi-Fi or hardwired to your router. Then connect the magicJack device to the laptops USB port. This way you're isolating the device from connecting directly to your network. See if the issue returns. If the issue doesn't return then you need to turn off or disconnecting all your other devices from your network. Reconnect your magicJack (directly to the network) and then one-by-one start turning on (or reconnecting) devices; the goal is to see if a particular device is having a network conflict with the magicJack device.
@@edwardcalixto thanx. Since my comment. An ISP tech said my internet problem was coming from a USB device connected to the router. The Magic Jack Go was the only USB device connected. If I recall correctly he said it was preventing the something to do with the IP address from taking place. BUT since your reply I am now wondering if I run the MJ from my PC if that might fix the issue since it wouldn't be direct connected to the modem
@@ImTheDaveman Just to be clear, you should NEVER plug the USB connector of the MJ into a router or any data device other than a computer. You connect the ethernet jack to the router and the USB connector to a power adapter. FYI, a weak power adapter will cause all kinds of problems.
@@solarsynapse Magic Jack wreaks havoc on my computer resources. If someone calls while my PC (or laptop) is rendering artwork - the PC or laptop lags so terribly I can't pause anything or stop anything going on in the system. My ISP had to have done something different that interfered with Magic Jack - that's my opinion in retrospect.

But the knowledge will last a lifetime.

Is this actually worked this time or not?
Had it 4 years. Now I cant renew cause their site tells me my Visa card is no good, it works everywhere else. Cant phone em either, they dont answer!
Is it a Citi card? On rare occasions certain companies won't take cards from certain banks. IMO Chase is not secure and Bank of America are traitors.
So how does this work u gotta use WiFi?What do u mean porting fee? I don't have a phone number to port in..

So according to the MJ site, only one version is available. So what’s the difference with this Home version and the site one?
sorry for delay, from what I see the home version has better quality and spam blocker.
