Pahle Sanjiv Kumar ko role offer kiya gaya tha but unhe dates ki problem aa rahi thi. So as per Nasiruddin Shah He wrote a letter to Gulzar requesting for this role. Gulzar asked some other Actors but no film actor was interested to work in a Serial. 1 saal baad Gulzar ne Naseeruddin ko bulawa bhej diya.
