I just feel sad for Jim... nobody checked on him or helped him with what he is going through ... This kinda shows the pressure people can have with these problems.... it's nice and better to help someone, rather than just assume they can strive on their own. This just comes to show, kindness helps.....
I have a theory that there might have been some chemicals in the oil spill that messed with people’s heads, causing extreme paranoia, a sense of impending doom and hallucinations, causing people to either run off or in any way shape or form do what Jim did at the end of the game
@@TophatKing306 You know, I never thought about that but I guess it could explain that too. My thoughts were: we don’t know if Jim felt the need to check his closets before day 1 in the game. When I played the first night I thought “oh, he has an anxiety disorder”, but then all those people start to disappear. I don’t know much about chemicals or how different chemicals affect the brain but I did hear from somewhere that a sense of impending doom is a sign that you’ve been poisoned by some sort of gas, it can also be a symptom of some diseases. Also carbon dioxide poisoning can cause you to hallucinate. Also the mass-disappearing didn’t start until after the leak so that could be a way those two events are connected. Maybe people were dying in their homes either due to exposure of the toxic chemicals or because again, they did what Jim did at the end of the game because the stress became too overwhelming and the mayor sent people to collect the bodies before anyone suspected anything, covering the whole thing up. This theory isn’t 100% solid though as cover ups of this kind usually involves a bribed police force but maybe the mayor couldn’t do that for some reason, so to the police it just looked like a bunch of people were just vanishing without a trace. The mayor himself could have been affected by the chemicals when declaring martial law.
@@ocarinagirlandthestories648 Wow. I did wonder a lot about the chemical thing so it's nice that you cleared that up. I like this theory a lot and definitely one of the more creative one's other than "dream theory" or "all in le head theory". I think it does have ground to stand on, but when it comes to the cover-up, it's the hardest given that a cover-up means that info is hidden or unknown so its difficult to say when or if the police were bribed. As for the mayor and the chemical stuff, he probably would have been influence by it given that he was closer to the rig than Jim likely was, and the area of affect was large, so he prob was influenced by it to declare martial law. Overall, pretty good theory, thanks for explaining it and talking about it, love to see it!
My theory is that it's all in Jim's head. There have been some disappearances, and there was a chemical spill. Jim suffers from paranoia, or OCD, or PTSD, or terminal anxiety, or schizophrenia. He sees everything as a threat. His mind blows things out of proportion. A simple spike in crime, to Jim, is beginning of the end of days. A friend warning him to stay safe is an ominous figure, who knows of the horrors to come. He sees a passenger helicopter, flying high in the night sky, as the military coming to fight an unknown threat. He sees the mayor being tougher on crime as the mayor getting the military involved. He is always afraid, and any new information or unknown possibilities are part of a conformation bias for Jim. He's afraid someone will come and take him. In his state of fear, he sees the faulty hinges of his door as it opens completely as something escapes. He sees a friendly neighbor, worried as to why Jim has boarded the windows as the criminals finally come to take him away. He's afraid he can't fend them off. He's afraid it's not a simple gangster. He's afraid it's the disappeared people come back to haunt him. He's afraid it's a supernatural monster causing all the disappearances. He's afraid it's the military gone corrupt, bribed by the oil company. He'd rather die than face the fear.
Intresting. Someone else mentioned a schizophrenia theory and another commenter mentioned a PTSD theory. Both sound fairly plausable, and paranoia can be in both considering its a symptom of both. The way he sees everything crashing down on him like it being the end of days is interesting and how he just can't take it anymore. That last line does hit hard tho. He would rather die than face whatever is outside
this theory can also explain when the gun is first showed as a black square. His mind kind of on damage control and is trying to pretend nothing is wrong. And that the gun is a horrible sight to the point his mind pretends that it doesn't exist. However on night 5 his mind is too focused on what is outside, thus the gun slowly appears in his sight.
The only thing about this theory is that the EAS blares on night 5. This doesn't normally happen during just a spike of crime, it normally happens when dangerous weather occurs such as a hurricane. I guess it's possible that he imagined the EAS, but I still think that slightly disproves this theory.
Did anyone else also notice on the second night, there's a metallic noise? Almost like someone is trying to lockpick his door.... The 4th night is when the lock breaks.
this truly is the meaning of phycological horror, no jumpscares at all, you think there will be one, but theres not, the real jumpscare is your own mind. truly phycological horror. EDIT: MoM iM faMouS!!11!!1!
I honestly think Jim is a war veteran. What other reason would the war scenes be here? Well, I think the monster Jim feels knows his past and uses it to its advantage.
@Tophat King that is the same reason Jim also uses the gun on himself and isn't persistent enough to actually kill the monster. This is why he ends himself in the end. He lost so much in the war that he got PTSD from it. This is why he slowly gets more aggravated as it goes.
@@limbosona Probably? I don't really know much about PTSD so I can't comment too much on that. If it is the case, then it could be an interesting inference.
First of all, if jim was a veteran there would be a framed medal or something implying he was a vet, second of all i dont think war based ptsd works like that, you would probably see something related to war.
One of the many things I love about this game is the ending It never tells you what it actually was that we were so afraid of which after reading the news and taking in consideration the things we bought on day 4 and 5, we'll always think of the worst outcome of what's behind that door.
Perhaps. The open ending allowed for many theories and ideas which has made this community big for analysis and review. There’s stuff that many people have theorized and I love that about the ending
@@toetickler4500 its a psychological game, remember. I don't think that any of these things would happen. Also to anger SCP-096 you need to look at him or a photo of him, which doesn't happen in this game
I know that Jim is just a video game character that we know for like 10 minutes, but is it just me who wants him to have a happy ending in heaven or something like that
@@Blaze_1379what if the good ending is that you get a choice to shoot yourself or not, if you choose not to then someone will bash down the door and it’s revealed to be a group of soldiers
i found this game in my recommendation, i did not see a game with that style for a while, so i decided to test it out, and i DID NOT expect this to be that scary with no jump scares at all, the devs are pretty smart, they keep you playing to know what happens to jim, while making you feel uncomfortable, you might get jump scared at any second, and the ending was NOT expected at all, trully a scary game without any jump scare or anything, i also love your style, keep up the great work!
This game was scary for me. There was always a feeling of you not being safe and that at any moment a jumpscare will happen. But when it doesn’t you get worried of when it’ll happen. The ending was certainly unexpected. Thank you!
Exposing yourself to blue light can cause loss of sleep, and loss of sleep kicks you in all sorts of directions. ...maybe the real culprit was Jim's computer.
My theory on this game is that, You know how in the beginning. The news showed that a chemical refinery recently opened? Well, I think that Jim may have lived nearby that chemical refinery. The chemicals in the refinery got exposed to him and caused him to have intense hallucinations. These hallucinations caused Jim to kill himself, due to thinking he was in heavy danger.
Think I got a solid theory here, Let's imagine if whatever was behind that door on Day 5 was his neighbor or something. If you remember the news article on Day 2 it said something about a "wellness check" What if that wellness check was made for Jim? What if the game is just a loop that happens over and over again? This will mean that Jim was probably mentally ill or something before the events of Jim's computer.
I believe jim could possibly have some form of a paranoia disorder such as paranoia schizophrenia, or OCD. OCD causes delusions and paranoia in some cases, and OCD can cause intrusive thoughts, possibly causing what jim does to himself at the end of the game, on the last day. Here's my complete theory: The news and disappearences are causing him paranoia, and hallucinations. Due to all of this, jim repeats his closet checking as he thinks something or someone could be in his closet, something that is causing people to vanish. He begins to panic, worry and anxiety, or in general the paranoia he has is causing him to buy items and protection for his safety, as he thinks something may happen to him. At the last day, he is hallucinating the knocking, he believes something is at his door and will cause him harm. He is overwhelmed, and scared. All that has happened, causes him to want to escape. He has a gun, and ultimately leads to what we see at the ending. This is a dark theory, however could explain why we never see what jim is so terrified of, because its not real, and rather a hallucination.
This is one of the only horror games that actually made me be scared of it, not just jumping because of something sudden, during the entire game i was scared of something came out of nowhere and also i got chills down my spine when it said "Someone is in my house" The developers really did a great job at the psychological horror
I had a theory before I knew about the news articles - I think I skipped past that part when I was playing because I was too scared 😅 but my theory was that Jim suffers from schizophrenia or some form of disorder that causes him to hallucinate. He could also have paranoia. Seeing the news could do this to him but checking the closets hints that he is paranoid and eventually, after potentially hallucinating the strange messages on his computer, and perhaps the tv static, he feels so unsafe and unsettled that he buys a gun for his own safety. He also does this after he literally thinks to himself "there is someone in my house" After he buys the gun, the police detect this and come knocking at his house, to which further feeds and encourages/adds to his paranoia. There was more to this I think that supported my theory but there you have it!! :)
I like the physological horror game genre of this game. I like how theres no combat, jumpscares, or gore to scare the player since all of that is kind of outdated and we need to use more of the theme because we have been doing the jumpscares and gore stuff for YEARS and YEARS by now which makes it irrelevant.
this game is actually a great adaptation of paranoia that leads to anxiety and stress 24/7. the littlest things that happen make you terrified. the news and other things increase this anxiety, and my theory is that it's all in his head (maybe having schizophrenia or something similar to it). another thing that helps support my theory is when jim says "there is someone inside my house" when it turns out there isn't, it's all about anxiety. at the end, the black square turns into a gun which jim uses to kill himself. i think the black square symbolizes something like mental health going down the drain and anxiety, so you're blind to what's really happening around you (hence why you don't know it's a gun at first). tl;dr the game is about paranoia and anxiety and stress, which eventually leads to suicide from fear and how you are paranoid about every little thing

I wanted to say smth , its that Jim started to not say "Im feling safe" its because Jim realizes that even saing "Im feling safe" will not making him feling safe
as someone who struggles with mental health and anxiety, this game is so scary because it's so realistic. the emotions jim goes through are very relatable to me, letting news stories and strange occurences get to his head. it truly shows how mental health can hurt your well-being just as much as physical health, and the true consequences of the age of technology.
I like Jims Computer because it tells us how fear can be our greatest enemy, and how it can push us into doing things that we naturally wouldnt do if we were calm.
I have a theory that there actually was someone who was behind all the disappearances, and Jim was paranoid and stocked up bought stuff because of his paranoia. I think that person messaging him was someone who knew him and was trying to warn him that the serial killer was in his area, and since Jim wasn’t responding he called the police to check on Jim. I also think the person knocking at the door in the last night was a police officer and the officer was trying to see if the person living in the house is alright, or just trying to warn Jim that there was a serial killer in his area. I don’t know, it’s just a theory, and I’m sorry if this theory doesn’t make sense.
True but I swear you would hear POLICE! THIS IS THE POLICE! Or why do we hear gun shots and people “running” I’m not sure about the people running outside but gunshots.
This is the one that make the most sense, so much "hallucination gas from chemical spill" theory that just doesnt make sense, It probably is just a coincidence like the mayor said
@@grathic99grathic60 sorry for the INCREDIBLY late response, but I don’t know, maybe it could be someone who was scared by all the shooting and disappearances so they were trying to get into Jim’s house to be safe?
You definitely deserve more subs man, I've been lookin for a kind of clearer analysis and now I found one and found out about these theories I did not know about. Keep up the good work!
Oh my, this really makes you think of mass hysteria as in going crazy even with nothing to outright jump at you or peek at you, there’s no imagery, just your imagination. Which makes the ending all the more terrifying.😊
I feel like this is the only game I can feel related to when it comes to these kinds of games. Jim is paranoid about a lot of things, news, if someone is in his house, death, and wondering if he's safe. I am also paranoid about a lot of things which is why I can't walk up the stairs normally, not jump into bed or a chair, go past a closet, go near the bottom of the bed and many more because I am afraid that I am unsafe and that there is someone in my house when there really isn't, and I'm just being paranoid. I think this game captures that really well. I really relate to Jim for some reason which is not usual to be relatable to a roblox horror game character.. I also really love the story. But my questions are: Why does Jim think this? What happened to him? Why did he think a horrible person was behind his door? What would his family think? How would people react? And lastly Was there really a stranger out there to get Jim? You don't have to answer these. (Also, I have a great game that is very underrated and needs more attention, which also has a lot of lore. It's called Springtime Cabin.)
I just realised that both Jim and Isaac died in somewhat the same way both tried to protect themselves but ended up killing themselves isaac from suffocation and Jim from oofing himself
good video i liked it!! but id like to say that i think the old roblox aesthetic is there to throw u off when the nighttime sections happen (with the ui disappearing and a forced first person pov) making those sections much scarier compared to the seemingly safer daytime sections, but still keeping the models the way they are to remind u that its still jims home i personally think the title of the escape badge refers to jim inflicting the gun on himself with the design being of the sunset background of the final day and the computer being blacked out (seemingly turned off) referencing jim escaping through death
I do agree that the old roblox aesthetic is to throw you off, and I love it for that! As for the badge I do agree that it’s him escaping, which to me is a little unsettling given what it hints to. Thanks for liking the video and I hope you stick around for my other projects!
I think the dream theory could actually be pretty interesting when it comes to Jim's computer. Just imagine everything past night one was actually a dream of some sort, he still might be sleeping while everything else is just a messed up nightmare. And this also ties up with the theory about paranoia, he checks his closet during night 1 but, remember that the news about disappearances only starts *during night 2*. This can also tie up with another theory, in which the refinery incident caused mass hysteria due to chemicals in the oil, at night 4, he wakes up. rampant chemicals fill the air and he hyperventilates buying a gun as well as other supplies. chemicals cause mass hysteria leading to suicide and destruction of an entire economy as everyone is mas buying every material they can. *knock knock knock*, Jim stares forward in anguish, he cant take it any more, he presses the gun up to his face and boom... I would like to mention a theory I came up with about the ominous chatter on rochat is either someone close to Jim or the government telling him to stay safe because they are aware of the ongoing threat!
It’s certainly a more interesting theory than just “it was all a dream”. I like that it does tie up with everything else and that the events do make sense or line up
You’re definitely going to be a great RUclipsr! It’s a great video overall, I don’t see many people talking about Jim’s Computer, can’t wait for your next vid!
Thank you! As for videos I hope you’ve already seen the others I have posted and if you have, then stay tuned cause I have some stuff in the works. (Hopefully i can finish them soon 😅)
reminds me of mandela catalogue cause of the gun part basically what im referencing is when the alternate came into the room, mark hides under the bed. the laughs grow louder, and then he says "YOU []ING []STARD!" and then you hear something. it then cuts to a screen saying "uh oh, bad decision mark!" implying that mark committed suicide. jim, does the same. commits suicide. while jim having the knocks grow louder, mark has the laughs grow louder. it seems the same.
A horror game without jump scares is more scarier than horror games with jump scares because we all expect a jump scare in horror games but the feeling of there being a jumpscare but it never happens gives us a feeling of dread and anxiety just like Jim he feels something is gonna jump at him and attack but it never comes so the dream theory is more likely to be true but only partially because it's just Jim's mind thinking that there are dangers or he's schizophernic
I love how I’m seeing all these channels with their interesting theories and explaining a lot of history or lore on the specific game their referring to. Keep the good work up RUclips recommendations!
Personally, with pretty much every piece the game gives us, I believe in what I call the apocalypse theory. (note, this is LONG, mostly since its meant to cover ALL we've been given, if you wanna shorten it just read the second paragraph or prepare for a long read.) Starting before we even enter the game look at the badges and description. "...while it lasts." Why won't the internet last? One of the more common theories is schizophrenia but how does this relate to the events? And the badges. I can't get much out of ENTER but ESCAPE... What is he escaping from? In what way is he freeing himself? Keep that in mind. Now starting with the first day only 2 notable things, the chemical spill and the night segment. Jim at night checks his closet. There are 2 reasons he could be doing this which line up with what I believe, A, he's paranoid, and B, he knows something could be in there, with A being most likely Remember this. On day 2 one thing, the disappearances. The disappearances happening on day 2 has some heavy implications if its related to something mentioned later. Day 3, 2. One, the disappearances are rampantly increasing, two, someone unknown messages you to prepare. The TV can easily be excused as an error or something. Day 4, 4. 1, The mayor when reguarding the disappearances mentions a chemical spill we haven't heard of which he claims to be unrelated. If we assume they are related, then that means this happened less than a day before its opening and has been covered up until it was unsurfaced. 2, Jim when shopping this time buys genuine supplies instead of random garbage, listening to the message from last night. Either Jim is extremely gullible or trusts this person for whatever reason. Remember this. 3, a helicopter flies by, which suggests the military are getting involved. And 4, at night someone apparently breaks in. We don't know how Jim knows this or if someone even actually broke in. Jim checks everywhere and there ain't many places to hide, and when he turns around in his bedroom his door is wide open. This is strange. Assuming Jim is paranoid from the A and B options, you would think he'd lock his front door. And even if he didn't and it was the wind, it opens outward, so that wouldn't make sense, only would for it closing. We don't see them but its very likely someone or something broke in. And finally day 5, where we can start wrapping this up. First thing that happens is that martial law is declared and that shelters are opened. Whatevers causing those disappearances is getting way worse than out of hand. Second, as Jim goes outside to grab his packages we see the sky is pink, indicating its either late or extremely early, both meaning Jim probably didn't get a wink of sleep that night, supporting the paranoia idea. Now third as Jim grabs his packages, we see he ordered planks a hammer and something. He uses the planks and hammer and presumably keeps the unknown item on his persons like the medkit. Notice its similarity to the unknown messenger. Now, during the night, he gets a message from that person to stay calm and not make a sound. Notice the stay calm? Other than to obviously tell them to be calm, if we assume Jim is paranoid, this comment makes a lot of sense for him. Then after assuring he's safe the television turns on breaking the calm rule. This begins a bunch of knocking across the outside of the house. Whatever was listening for a noise has it now and its on Jim's location. This prompts Jim to pull out the mysterious object... a GUN, which lines up with the dots. He holds it up and begins shaking in fear, then looks at the weapon and somewhat suddenly shoots himself. Lets unpack this ALL. Using all this information lets try and answer the story. Something came from a chemical spill covered up from the recently opened refinery. This thing begins causing mass disappearances across the country. Its nothing to joke around about since the military aren't able to fight it and can only hope to save themselves and the citizens by creating shelters. This explains the description. The internet won't last because whatever experiments the mayor was doing created this thing and its likely to spread to places unprepared for it or unable to deal with it across the globe. Its almost certainly what Jim encounters at the end of the game. Speaking of that, lets enter his shoes here. Jim isn't just completely outpowered here, he's also paranoid. He doesn't want that thing to take him like it has so many others. He's trapped here. This thing has faced thousands and even the military can't defeat it. What chance does Jim POSSIBLY HAVE? That's when, staring at his weapon, he thinks of a better option, ESCAPE. And speaking of the gun, its clearly been blocked out by Jim's mind until he couldn't anymore, just like the Unknown messenger. Whoever they are they're clearly either known or at minimum trusted by Jim. Best guess is that they're the military (which doesn't fit in the dashes) or someone who works in it, which is how they know what to do. Now last thing is IT. What is it exactly? Best guess is some sort of plague or zombie like infection, though not just the undead. Think about it, the disappearances started off with one until they multiplied in number, and how would just ONE organism make thousands from an entire country disappear? Plus we know there's multiple knocks and it would make sense for chemical like experiments from the mayor, and would explain why he denies it so much, he probably doesn't fully understand how bad it is or is just being safe, because it would make sense if he was making biological weapons for warfare. Would be pretty nice if you turned a country's citizens into their almost unkillable enemy, though it clearly backfires. And that's it... the best theory I could come up with that explains everything we've been given from this game. Sorry for this being RIDICULOUSLY LONG, I just wanted to cover everything to finally give the best answer I could think of.
I kinda agree. I think the “keep calm” part is the military speaking. They said they were doing wellness checks, and I think they know that Jim has some form of paranoia, PTSD, or anxiety. I think the constant knocking freaked him out, and the TV might’ve been a reminder for awake citizens, or because more chemicals were around. Chemicals can mess with your brain, making you hallucinate, so they wanted everyone to stay inside. But, Jim thought the thing making people disappear was not a cover-up by the Mayor, but an actual killer. He got so paranoid he k1ll3d himself instead of letting them in.
psychological horror is the most terrifying kind of horror. the way it gets to your mind that, somethings gonna pop up in the next corner, when most of the time when you turn that corner, theres nothing.thats what makes jims computer scary
As somebody who has anxiety and a bit of paranoia, sometimes just existing can be a lot to handle I hope I never have to suffer in the same way Jim/the player does
I think that Jim himself was the monster the entire time, suffering from a multiple personality disorder causing paranoia and dread as he probably understands what to do and seems to know so much about the monster that he at the end realises that he is the monster and caused all these deaths. And the knocking was just the final hallucination to break the wall between his personality’s and blend them together, unable to cope with what he’s done he ends it.
i just played the game today and here’s my theory (this might sound far fetched but hear me out): i think that jim has severe anxiety and hallucination. after seeing the news articles he gets extremely anxious and so decides to check his closets every night. all the strange things that happened during the night was just him hallucinating and eventually he couldn’t take the anxiety anymore and unalives himself.
My theory is that Jim has been stuck there for years and that is why the badge is called escape he could have died to the mysterious player many of times till the controller came into play and bought the gun for him that might be why he killed himself.
An interesting idea I just thought of was that jim has paranoia, the stuff that's happening is stuff that would usually resolve itself but he panics about the problems. Like yeah the stuff is actually happening like the missing people and the oil plant, but they actually aren't even related and Jim just automatically becomes paranoid that they're connected and that he's in danger. The mysterious person can also be paranoia, whether it's an actual message or not, it's not hard to think someone just started sending him messages to scare him without knowing he was paranoid. and the messages definitely heightens his paranoia. Even him checking his closets each night could suggest already present paranoia,. Because he does it before there's even any danger, so him checking the closets could be a form of routine to calm his paranoia. [ I'm basing this on my own experience with paranoia because if I find out something that's worrying like hearing there's a bad storm or even just thinking someone's coming for me, I'll be paranoid about it until I know it ain't a big problem, plus messages like "prepare" or "stay quiet" that give a sense of unreality can heighten paranoia. Even the ending with the gun Is sadly something that does happen with people who suffer from paranoia. ]
I love the twist at the end of the game, a lot of horror game protagonist don't care but Jim actually had sanity and It could be pushed to the limit from what ever was outside his house.
I mean someone breaking in to your home is a decently justified fear if you live in a bad neighborhood where it’s common. Do you have a source for where you heard where Jim’s computer was based on?
I think another valid point to note is that its never shown Jim going to sleep on the last couple of days. If anything Jim could have become sleep deprived.
Ok so not gonna lie that this game is terrifying like i played a lot of horror games and i dont mean horror games in roblox like other popular horror games such as devour, resident evil, silent hill etc. But this game is so terrifying in a way like it was going like a normal horror game when i played it a day out, you sleep, you wake up, check around just like a normal horror game but when the "i feel safe again" text came i was terrified i cant explain why but it felt so uncomfortable and when we hear all the windows trying to get broken in the last night and we get a gun i said "oh its pretty normal now a monster is gonna come were gonna try to shoot it" but when he started to shake i realized something was wrong and i mean like the sounds from the windows, door and the tv makes it so much scarier like anxiety then when he looked at the gun and shot himself i almost cried cuz i was terrified i never felt so uncomfortable in any type of horror game. we start off normal random things happen then the commit suicid comes ye i dont know how to explain this its so terrifying im effected by this game it felt so real and uncomfortable in a way
The night segments of this game generally made me be scared because I have seen many horror games and I thought that in one of the closets something was going to in it
My theory is that Jim was already very mentally ill possibly traumatized from experiences in robloxia, with how lonely and dangerous it seems to not just Jim but also others. I think the nameless man was his friend or neighbor trying to help, maybe he got scared himself and wanted company. And the spill caused robloxia to go into a mass hysteria because of the citizens distrust with the mayor leading a lot to hide away like Jim did.
I have a theory, I think that.. jim has his own house which is basically old, but before jim rents it, it's haunted. and still when jim rented it, the anxiety of not knowing who's at the door starts.
hey did you know on day 5 Jim seemed to have woken up on the sunset. This might mean that on the previous night, he didnt go to sleep and waited until the sunrise, when he feels safe again
Damn. It would make sense considering that he no longer says he feels safe after night 3 (i think) and with increase in fear, I think he definitely wouldn't sleep until a point where he feels safe again
As a matter of fact, I want to draw attention to the fact that Jim no longer uses the words “I feel safe again" when he speaks, indicating that he is no longer secure anywhere.
I adore this game a lot I was sinking into my chair while opening the closets LOL but I relate to Jim a lot, no matter what the story behind him actually means I personally perceive it as paranoia. All the news stuff could of been from a whole different area, not extremely far but not near enough since he lives so far from society. But because he had been consuming a lot of the news he grew paranoid scared he was gonna be the next victim even if he was far from the chaos. So he grew more paranoid each day and all the noises he heard was just all in his head, even down to the TV turning on and off with static and warnings. He was too far into his paranoia and no one else being there for him to tell him its all in his head and that he was okay, he ended up offing himself. Why I relate to it is because I tend to have very bad paranoia I guess 'episodes' at times and its basically how it feels. And it was caused by all the true crime stuff I use to consume, affected me so much even when I didn't reliaze it at the time.
I think paranoia is a factor in it. Many people put it with other symptoms as what happens with him definitely can be other things like schizophrenia or PTSD. I think he is far from the city but that he does grow a little worried about it, which could have led to his worsening mental condition as he made stuff up in his head. As for what’s happened to you personally I hope you certainly feel better and that you don’t have those “episodes” anymore
My theory is that there may have been some kind of demon, and it possessed Jim when he was distracted to kill him, and it did with all the other dissappearences.
I mean it’s really popular on the channel, which is awesome for a beginning video! Thanks for supporting the channel and I watch out for any new roblox videos 👀
Now I know the new game is released but a good theory might be that he is experiencing hallucinations and may be a drug addict, think about it, Jims world seems so euphoric considering how vivid the colours are and the news saying how bad the disappearances are, as well as how every day he seems to wake up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason
Man, the ending really got me, I thought it was some scary monster ready to kill Jim or some sort of Keter class SCP monster or Seek. Yes, Seek. I thought a DOORS chase would happen.
I think the reason for the old roblox asthetic is is similar to a completely different game, ULTRAKILL. In ULTRAKILL, the game has retro-styled graphics because the robots lower their graphics for faster speeds, so what if the old roblox look is there so that Jim can devote more of his time to "preparing"
I have a theory that Jim is an antisocial introvert (which is why he lives in the middle of nowhere) and is living in his own utopia where laws and common sense don’t apply to him, and he’s alone… up until the end, where the reality of the real world becomes more clear. At first it starts off all nice and normal, especially since he buys practically everything on the online market for free. These items had to have been a bit expensive. But as the days go on, Jim checks the news more often and sees that people in areas near to where he lives are disappearing, causing him to start to get anxious, and the mysterious messenger just adds to his anxiety because he’s antisocial + scared for his own life. He tries to put it behind him, but the truth comes out when we reach day 5, where the actual threat is trying to get into his house. Rather than deal with the reality of it all, Jim ends everything with a single pull of a trigger.
I have a theory that Jim had paranoia and the chemical plant spill produced some sort of chemical that made him think a monster was in his house and the knocking made him go over the edge but it was just the military evacuating the area and was knocking on his door to inform him about the situation.
I think the shadow figure was a player that came too close to the oil spill and it took over his body and when it gets close to soneone it causes severe anxiety that can make them oof themselves
Maybe? There is an incident so it could be that, and apperantly some oil chemicals or fumes could cause anxiety so it’s plausible but we don’t really know
@@TophatKing306 or maybe it wasnt oil but a much more dangerous substance or some evil people disguised a different more harmful material as oil and thats why and the developer would definitely hide it because it would ruin the plot of the game if they blatantly told us that it wasnt oil
If you think about the black mysterious guy on RoChat.. maybe was trying to Warn Jim. As there was no Death Threats and all he said was “Prepare” and “Keep Quiet and Stay Calm” but Still there was no Explanation and yeah thats just my Theory.
Personally I believe that the thing Jim is afraid of is some kind of supernatural creature, and the oil spill has nothing to do with it. The creature could be the person messaging him on rochat, and that Jim does try to kill it. But eventually he realises this thing can send people missing without a trace, and that he can’t fight it so he just takes the easy way out. The closet thing is just his own paranoia of the unknown
I have a theory that Jim is a teenager with severe anxiety being left alone by his parents for a week to do something. Maybe it was to work at the oil refinery and when the spill happened they kicked the bucket due to it? Idk I’m no good at making theories lmao
i like to imagine that jim was just extremely anxious and coincidence after coincidence just made his mind think the worst of everything going on which could clearly be seen at the end where he cant even bare seeing what could be behind the door
We need more psychological horror games for Roblox. This game was very influential on Roblox and the horror genre for Roblox as a whole because it told a story, didn’t use jumpscares, there was no monsters, just it playing tricks on your mind and all, the plot twist of the black bar it being gun, multiple ways to interpret Jim’s Computer, and exceeds your expectations. The severance is an another good one along with my eyes deceive but unfortunately that wasn’t Roblox made and it was taken down.
I think there definitely is a need for games like Jim’s computer and it’s way of how it communicates its story being really good. As for “my eyes deceive” tho I’m pretty sure it was taken down because the dev of the original game asked for it to be? I could be wrong tho
I have a theory…I might be in over my head, but it seems good enough to be true. The oil that was spilled was somehow contaminated with a must substance. The Oil landed on a worker nearby who was on the closing shift. Due to the boiling-hit oil melting their skin, the oil merged with the body somehow. The worker-turned-oil-monster is seeking revenge on whoever spilled the oil on him. This worker was the first disappearance. As he is now a black color, he lurks in the night, killing anyone who might’ve spilled the oil. The oil monster couldn’t have typed, so the stranger was most likely a survivor of the attacks. The survivor knew the plays was next, so he gave them a warning. The worker, being driven insane, just knocks before killing the next suspect. The mayor noticed the spill, and the missing worker. The mayor puts two and two together to realize the oil was radioactive, and spilled on the worker. Not wanting to take the blame, he deflects the refinery spill having anything to do with the disappearances. The reason he denied anything is because he doesn’t want to get knocked out of power. The military was deployed to try and stop the oil monster. The survivor tipped off the government that the player was next, so that why the helicopter flew by Jim’s house specifically. The reason Jim doesn’t feel safe, is because the radiation is causing anxiety. SORRY IF THIS DOESN’T MAKE SENSE, OR IS LENGTHY
This game needed no horror-imagery, gore or anything of that sort to be absolutely terrifying!
Yup. It is a great horror game!

I just feel sad for Jim... nobody checked on him or helped him with what he is going through ... This kinda shows the pressure people can have with these problems.... it's nice and better to help someone, rather than just assume they can strive on their own. I have a theory that there might have been some chemicals in the oil spill that messed with people’s heads, causing extreme paranoia, a sense of impending doom and hallucinations, causing people to either run off or in any way shape or form do what Jim did at the end of the game
That is a pretty interesting theory. Is that why the mailman just books it the moment you order something and it’s delivered to your home?
If people just ran off, there would be more leads for police to find them, as someone would see a running person, etc
@@myacht True, but some missing persons cases have just gone cold, os if people ran off or went missing, there is a chance they would just dissapear
@@XRed03 I feel the thing that challenges this theory the most is not the EAS, but the news articles.

I honestly think Jim is a war veteran. What other reason would the war scenes be here? Well, I think the monster Jim feels knows his past and uses it to its advantage.
Jim hasn’t been the same since ‘nam
@Tophat King that is the same reason Jim also uses the gun on himself and isn't persistent enough to actually kill the monster. This is why he ends himself in the end. He lost so much in the war that he got PTSD from it. This is why he slowly gets more aggravated as it goes.
@@limbosona Probably? I don't really know much about PTSD so I can't comment too much on that. If it is the case, then it could be an interesting inference.
First of all, if jim was a veteran there would be a framed medal or something implying he was a vet, second of all i dont think war based ptsd works like that, you would probably see something related to war.
@TwistALemon if you paid attention the helicopter would be from the martial law being implemented.
One of the many things I love about this game is the ending
It never tells you what it actually was that we were so afraid of which after reading the news and taking in consideration the things we bought on day 4 and 5, we'll always think of the worst outcome of what's behind that door.
Perhaps. The open ending allowed for many theories and ideas which has made this community big for analysis and review. There’s stuff that many people have theorized and I love that about the ending

i found this game in my recommendation, i did not see a game with that style for a while, so i decided to test it out, and i DID NOT expect this to be that scary with no jump scares at all, the devs are pretty smart, they keep you playing to know what happens to jim, while making you feel uncomfortable, you might get jump scared at any second, and the ending was NOT expected at all, trully a scary game without any jump scare or anything, i also love your style, keep up the great work!

@gabrielantonedebouchervill1536 it's a joke...
My theory on this game is that,
You know how in the beginning.
I like the idea of that. I actually really agree with this!
A lot of horror games these days have too much jumpscares, shadows etc.
This game shows how simple fear is
This is one of the only horror games that actually made me be scared of it, not just jumping because of something sudden, during the entire game i was scared of something came out of nowhere and also i got chills down my spine when it said "Someone is in my house" The developers really did a great job at the psychological horror
17:53 I would say showing this to kids is a great example of what the real horror game looks like
I like the physological horror game genre of this game. I like how theres no combat, jumpscares, or gore to scare the player since all of that is kind of outdated and we need to use more of the theme because we have been doing the jumpscares and gore stuff for YEARS and YEARS by now which makes it irrelevant.
this game is actually a great adaptation of paranoia that leads to anxiety and stress 24/7. the littlest things that happen make you terrified. the news and other things increase this anxiety, and my theory is that it's all in his head (maybe having schizophrenia or something similar to it). another thing that helps support my theory is when jim says "there is someone inside my house" when it turns out there isn't, it's all about anxiety. at the end, the black square turns into a gun which jim uses to kill himself. i think the black square symbolizes something like mental health going down the drain and anxiety, so you're blind to what's really happening around you (hence why you don't know it's a gun at first).
tl;dr the game is about paranoia and anxiety and stress, which eventually leads to suicide from fear and how you are paranoid about every little thing
also hes shaking because hes so overwhelmed and thats why he shoots himself
Makes sense

as someone who struggles with mental health and anxiety, this game is so scary because it's so realistic. the emotions jim goes through are very relatable to me, letting news stories and strange occurences get to his head. it truly shows how mental health can hurt your well-being just as much as physical health, and the true consequences of the age of technology.

But my questions are:
Why does Jim think this?
What happened to him?
Why did he think a horrible person was behind his door?
What would his family think?
How would people react?
And lastly
Was there really a stranger out there to get Jim?
You don't have to answer these.

good video i liked it!! but id like to say that i think the old roblox aesthetic is there to throw u off when the nighttime sections happen (with the ui disappearing and a forced first person pov) making those sections much scarier compared to the seemingly safer daytime sections, but still keeping the models the way they are to remind u that its still jims home
i personally think the title of the escape badge refers to jim inflicting the gun on himself with the design being of the sunset background of the final day and the computer being blacked out (seemingly turned off) referencing jim escaping through death
I like that it does tie up with everything else and that the events do make sense or line up

basically what im referencing is when the alternate came into the room, mark hides under the bed. the laughs grow louder, and then he says "YOU []ING []STARD!" and then you hear something.
it then cuts to a screen saying "uh oh, bad decision mark!" implying that mark committed suicide.

I absolutely love how he stares at the gun questioning if this is worth it
'jim dies, and he's not coming back.'
nOOO-
The computer badges make it seam like he’s in a simulation
A horror game without jump scares is more scarier than horror games with jump scares because we all expect a jump scare in horror games but the feeling of there being a jumpscare but it never happens gives us a feeling of dread and anxiety just like Jim he feels something is gonna jump at him and attack but it never comes so the dream theory is more likely to be true but only partially because it's just Jim's mind thinking that there are dangers or he's schizophernic
If you expect a jumpscare, you get jumpscared by not getting jumpscared
The real meaning and true deep story behind the game is really deep and sad.

Personally, with pretty much every piece the game gives us, I believe in what I call the apocalypse theory. (note, this is LONG, mostly since its meant to cover ALL we've been given, if you wanna shorten it just read the second paragraph or prepare for a long read.)
Starting before we even enter the game look at the badges and description.
I think this is much bigger than my script for the whole video
I READ ALLAT ‼
NOT READING ALLAT 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜
Wow, great video, I won't be surprised to see this channel blow up in the future.
Thank you so much! This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while so getting this much support has been heartwarming
As somebody who has anxiety and a bit of paranoia, sometimes just existing can be a lot to handle
I hope I never have to suffer in the same way Jim/the player does
glad that there's someone now to make videos on games like these
I think that Jim himself was the monster the entire time, suffering from a multiple personality disorder causing paranoia and dread as he probably understands what to do and seems to know so much about the monster that he at the end realises that he is the monster and caused all these deaths. And the knocking was just the final hallucination to break the wall between his personality’s and blend them together, unable to cope with what he’s done he ends it.
Maybe the real Jim’s computer are the friends we made along the way
@@TophatKing306 LEAVE ME ALONEEE AAAAAHHHHH- AHHHHHHHHHGGHHHHHHHH-
i had no idea i'll be scared on a physical horror game
i just played the game today and here’s my theory (this might sound far fetched but hear me out): i think that jim has severe anxiety and hallucination. after seeing the news articles he gets extremely anxious and so decides to check his closets every night. all the strange things that happened during the night was just him hallucinating and eventually he couldn’t take the anxiety anymore and unalives himself.
i felt so bad for jim he was shaking and everything;(
Dream theory would explain why the screen goes black because dying causes a lot of adrenaline to rush therefore waking you up out of the dream
My theory is that Jim has been stuck there for years and that is why the badge is called escape he could have died to the mysterious player many of times till the controller came into play and bought the gun for him that might be why he killed himself.
Would this be kinda like the “I have no mouth and I must scream” book?
I don't know it is like make up what must happen next like a book with no ending
The developers know when your fear appears.
Jim’s computer really got to me mainly due to my own fears of someone breaking into my home. Also I heard Jim’s computer was based off Mandela catalog
I mean someone breaking in to your home is a decently justified fear if you live in a bad neighborhood where it’s common. Do you have a source for where you heard where Jim’s computer was based on?
@@TophatKing306 about the Mandela catalog reference. I was wrong about that I must have been thinking about the intruder
Jim is just traumatized bc of the chemical spill
Crazy how staying alone in a house can cause this much stress and anxiety.
I mean not having contact with anyone and unrestricted access to the internet does that kind of thing
@@TophatKing306 kind of an L tbh
I think another valid point to note is that its never shown Jim going to sleep on the last couple of days. If anything Jim could have become sleep deprived.
True. The fact that the last one looks like a sunset can just be that he didn’t sleep at all
Ok so not gonna lie that this game is terrifying like i played a lot of horror games and i dont mean horror games in roblox like other popular horror games such as devour, resident evil, silent hill etc. But this game is so terrifying in a way like it was going like a normal horror game when i played it a day out, you sleep, you wake up, check around just like a normal horror game but when the "i feel safe again" text came i was terrified i cant explain why but it felt so uncomfortable and when we hear all the windows trying to get broken in the last night and we get a gun i said "oh its pretty normal now a monster is gonna come were gonna try to shoot it" but when he started to shake i realized something was wrong and i mean like the sounds from the windows, door and the tv makes it so much scarier like anxiety then when he looked at the gun and shot himself i almost cried cuz i was terrified i never felt so uncomfortable in any type of horror game. we start off normal random things happen then the commit suicid comes ye i dont know how to explain this its so terrifying im effected by this game it felt so real and uncomfortable in a way
The night segments of this game generally made me be scared because I have seen many horror games and I thought that in one of the closets something was going to in it
Yeah, one of those days it was but it never happened. What’s scarier is the fact that Jim doesn’t even have clothes there so is he naked?
@@TophatKing306 i mean he might be naked but then his torso and his legs are not yellow so he's not naked
@@TophatKing306 i subed to you also can you see my reply?
such a simple game, such a terrifying game
My theory is that Jim was already very mentally ill possibly traumatized from experiences in robloxia, with how lonely and dangerous it seems to not just Jim but also others. I think the nameless man was his friend or neighbor trying to help, maybe he got scared himself and wanted company. And the spill caused robloxia to go into a mass hysteria because of the citizens distrust with the mayor leading a lot to hide away like Jim did.
I like the theory that jim is a veteran suffering from gulf war syndrome, and since hes already infected, the chemical spill made everything worse
That’s a plausible theory, I think it makes sense though
im so proud of you son
How is this not popular! this video is so underrated, good video and i like watching it!
Hope u send more roblox theories and stories !
I mean it’s really popular on the channel, which is awesome for a beginning video! Thanks for supporting the channel and I watch out for any new roblox videos 👀
pretty sure a large ratio of views to subs is alot
Now I know the new game is released but a good theory might be that he is experiencing hallucinations and may be a drug addict, think about it, Jims world seems so euphoric considering how vivid the colours are and the news saying how bad the disappearances are, as well as how every day he seems to wake up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason
Man, the ending really got me, I thought it was some scary monster ready to kill Jim or some sort of Keter class SCP monster or Seek. Yes, Seek. I thought a DOORS chase would happen.
i like to think he was so paranoid he's allucinating and the people knocking are the military trying to open the door but they come in too late
The voices
This is really well made, I can't wait to see your next uploads
Thank you very much! It means a lot!
The ending of the game is so wholesome 😊
So true
NAHH 💀
Fr he goes to a very nice place 😃
the game is a truly chilling experience for others, havent played it.
as a “veteran” mandela catalouge fan, the refrences are amazing, but poor jim.
I love how roblox horror games are getting better and better the story is good full of mysteries I'd love to see more of them in the future :D
I have a theory that Jim had paranoia and the chemical plant spill produced some sort of chemical that made him think a monster was in his house and the knocking made him go over the edge but it was just the military evacuating the area and was knocking on his door to inform him about the situation.
thank you sniper tf2 for telling me about the local disappearance
Ever thought of uranium?
@@jeiku5314 ye
Or maybe it's just a player that want to do a little trolling after, accidentally fell to the oil spill, and somehow live
If you think about the black mysterious guy on RoChat.. maybe was trying to Warn Jim. As there was no Death Threats and all he said was “Prepare” and “Keep Quiet and Stay Calm” but Still there was no Explanation and yeah thats just my Theory.
You're a really good story teller bro
Thank you! It means a lot :)
For some reason, when he adolfed himself it was just more scarier then every horror game for me
Imagine if there were different endings
So true
The 2nd ending would be you opened the door and it was ur neighbor
It’s alright! Theories are just headcannons, and I think they’re fun to do, especially when this game is very open ended
Thank you :).
i like to imagine that jim was just extremely anxious and coincidence after coincidence just made his mind think the worst of everything going on which could clearly be seen at the end where he cant even bare seeing what could be behind the door
When you forget that your dog is outside 😂
Very nice! :D
Thank you :)
I said player instead of plays
a good story
The knocking could have been from the military checking on Jim or moving him to a nearby shelter
