@@tyger166 my friend worked at a place and they would play the same playlist every day. This song was on it, and she hated it because that’s all she heard every shift. I think I changed her appreciation for it now atleast 😂
Lex, PLEASE listen to Brad - As a 53 year old female, I learned many years ago that words don't mean SQUAT - If actual actions back it up, I'd let someone talk my ears off 24/7 - Btw, you two are ADORABLE
💯 I loved that convo at the end... those need to be public for everyone to understand healthy balance. Agree with Brad that the words are over used... found someone who agreed with me and then never said those words... figured out he was a narcissist a little too late. There's a balance.
Extreme was my first rock concert when I was a kid LOLOL. My momma took me. I remember looking around and being so uncomfortable about being THE ONLY black folks there. I never will forget my mom said " Who cares. Just enjoy the music." I settled down and had a great time. I 've been rocking ever sense. Now I could not care less if I'm the only black person in the crowd. I'm " enjoying the music" baby!
Extreme? Hell yeah! -> "Decadence Dance" should show you a little more of their "extreme" side. "Get The Funk Out" has one of the all-time greatest guitar solos ever. I can never listen to it without just grinning from side to side. They've got quite a wide spectrum, too. I've always loved their second album (from which this is) the most. Such funky, funky metal-rock.
Lex sums it up perfectly at the end with "woo, beautiful"! Sometimes i prefer some music that is more "extreme", but this song has always been one of my favorites. A classic.
This is back from when every hair metal band had to have a sappy love song ... often acoustic. Nuno Bettencourt is a serious beast on guitar and their harder/faster songs are all really extreme (and on a side note, Gary Cherone ended up doing a short stint as Van Halen's singer after Sammy Hagar)
This song was a worldwide smash. Number 1 in the US and known all around the world. I work with a guy that grew up in Colombia, South America, and he told me this song was huge in his home country. With that said, this song is not indicative of most Extreme songs. They are rockers, for sure. Great band. Gary is one of the best frontmen you’ll ever see in concert and Nuno is a guitar god. I’m so glad I grew up during this era. So many great songs and bands.
Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon covered this song in a skit in the same style of the video. It’s pretty good considering it was done for laughs. But Jack Black is the voice of Tenacious D so it makes sense.
That cover was the absolute best! 😄 Jack Black's usual dramatic gestures were hilarious and his voice was perfection. Also, I wish that was Jimmy's actual hair. Lol
They did it a little bit different than most bands though. I realize Pornograffiti wasn't their first album...but back then, every time a band released a new album, the FIRST single was usually a rocker. THEN the ballad came. But you're right in that it was very formulaic. But "More than Words" was the first single from Pornograffiti.
Funny is that Extreme are always mentioned by More Than Words and the other single Hole Hearted. The rest of the Pornografitti album was so funky and heavy. Listen to Decadence Dance and Get the Funk Out. Their vocalist Gary Cherone later replaced Sammy Hagar in Van Halen and sang on the Van Halen III album. If people bought Pornografitti after listening to the two singles they were in for a surprise. The rest of the album was totally different. The follow-up III Sides to Every Story was a great album but totally different. More like a concept album
“He Man Woman Hater” is another one of their heavier jams… and there is a version out there that starts with “Flight of the wounded bumblebee” which lets nuno flex his guitar skills
The meaning of the song is about showing someone you love them means much more than simply saying it. Too many people say it but don't show it. I love this song and your reactions.
A very enjoyable reaction, as always. I have always loved this ballad. I was a young paratrooper in the 82nd when that song first came out. Good times. If you two want to listen to someone considered to be the best vocalist in the world, and likely in recorded history, listen to Dimash Kudaibergen (Qudaibergen). Vocal coaches, professional singers, and industry experts the world over all agree that there is no one like him in recorded history. He sings in more than12 different languages and also plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. During his live concerts, he usually performs for more than two hours and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles. His range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), according to some analysts, spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest are vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during any live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His main genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, vocal styles, and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g. screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap, as well as Tribal and Middle Eastern styles. He can go from Barry White to Mariah Carey in a single run. If you are interested, check out his 2018 performance of "S.O.S." at Slavic Bazaar, his 2018 performance of "Sinful Passion" at New Wave, or his performance of "Stranger" at 2021 New Wave. You will not believe your ears and you will never look at other singers the same again.
Wow - I remember where I was, when I first heard this song, so many years ago. Hearing it still makes me smile. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
This is probably the reason I learned to play guitar.. for Extreme. This ballad was completely different than the other songs on this album. They needed something for radio airplay. It reached #1 on the billboard charts in the Spring of 1991.
Met Nuno once and he signed one of my guitars! Amazingly talented guitar player and one of the most personable people you can meet! He's REALLY good people!
I saw these guys live back in the day and they played this song. They sounded just like you see on video. Just amazing! And FYI those two singers are brothers!
The two of you hit the nail on the head! Women need to hear it so if a man respects her, he won't be cheap with his words. Men need action. So if a woman truly respects her man, she will back up her words with actions.❤️❤️
Everyone in this band is super talented... but the stand out is Nuno Bettencourt. (The other guy singing.) He shreds. There's a scene in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure where Beethoven is playing a keyboard in a music store. The music in this scene is Extreme. It's not a keyboard, it's Nuno shredding on the guitar. The song's called Play With Me.
I met them on this tour. A friend of mine was doing a start-up Rock magazine, and because I knew a lot about the band, she wanted me to interview them. About halfway through the interview, their manager walked up and pulled us aside asking for our passes. Little did I know, my friend hadn't gone through the channels, and just had word-of-mouth from the local radio station that we could interview them. So halfway through my interview, we were thrown out. Gary came up to me right after, said it wasn't right, and offered me backstage passes to finish the interview. I thanked them all profusely. After leaving, my friend and I had a difference of 'opinion' on a few things, so I never made the concert...but they were great guys.
This is the best known track from 'Pornograffitti' which is a very good album. It's a very diverse album going from some really good Heavy Rock tracks to more ballad like stuff like this. Well worth a few listens. In fact I'm off to dig my copy out in a minute.
Love this song so pretty and melo. Lex you probably heard the cover/spoof Jimmy Fallon and Jack Black did on it! If you guys haven't seen it you have to check it out!
I watched this band a few years ago in my home city, Newcastle in UK. They were fantastic, always loved this band. However, the thing that stands out for me is that when they finished the three band members of the four went in to the crowd, and they were there for at least 15-20 minutes! Talking and shaking hands even though they risked possible injury! I have never ever seen that before. Huge respect to them. They obviously care genuinely for people who like their music! A7X are that kind of band also. I watched Dream Theater Newcastle last night, and although they remained on the stage, they stayed for about 10 minutes and almost seemed reluctant to go off! These two bands are mega stars and musicians, but you just know that the fans aren’t just their meal ticket in their eyes, they care about the fans, and appreciate them totally.
They still sound the same ,they still have so much energy on stage. I see them every year.Plus they are the most down to earth people you could ever meet. When they play in New Hampshire, their whole family shows up.Awesome
Extreme also has so many rocking songs too. Nuno is an awesome guitarist. He is very underrated. Check out the tracks 'Kid Ego', 'Play With Me', 'Get the Funk Out', 'Pornograffitti', all great rocking tracks!
Softest song from Extreme. Their other songs are hard and very VERY well composed. Amazing guitar by Nuno. Give Peacmaker Die, Everything under the Sun a listen. Each song is a masterpiece. Very underrated band - Like Tesla. LOVE THEM!!!
My husband of 18 years is very good at showing how much he cares. He works away from home for 20 days at a time. Our house is paid for, bills are paid monthly, and we have 4 pets to keep me company at home because I am a disabled stroke survivor since 2007. A couple of years ago, he fell at work & broke his leg in two places. I made sure he was fed & watered for the 2 weeks prior to him getting a walking cast. He only did what he wanted & was able to do. He told me I didn't need to baby him (his words) so much. I replied that it was my chance to care for him as well as he does for me & I would be damned if I let that opportunity pass.
This band did this song, 2 heavy metal songs, and a Frank Sinatra cover all on the same album. They are Extreme. One other thing the lead singer Gary Cherone did an album with Van Halen.
This song got a lot of play on pop and soft rick stations. Seeing the reaction of some people when they showed up to the concert. Check out the sing Get The Funk Out
You guys need to check out Van Halen "Without You", it was the third line up of Van Halen with Gary Cherone ( lead singer of Extreme ) after Sammy Hagar left the band, totally underrated version of Van Halen but well worth a listen.
When you tell someone you love them and you can see it in their eyes and the emotions on their face, it’s a powerful and moving thing. It’s definitely more than words! It conveys the best feelings in the world. It’s certainly not a trivial thing!
Some people said it was about sleeping together but the band denied it, whatever, as lex exclaimed, wooh beautiful! Pls react also to white lion - you're all i need, till death do us part, broken heart etc. Thanks
This was the song that ultimately served as the catalyst for the band breaking up in 1996. They got tired of being known as the "More Than Words" band. Check out the rest of the "Pornograffitti" album. That's what made Nuno Bettencourt a guitar hero.
This is my wife and my song. It was hugely popular when we were just two dumb high school kids in love. I even leaned how to play it for her back then. Always a good listen for me.
This was their 1 ballad they were called extreme because their music went from one extreme to another nuno bettencort is an incredible guitar player and this singer sang for Van Halen for one record after Sammy check out the song Kid ego or just about anything else by them
Y'all gotta hear Get The Funk Out. This guitar player Nuno Bettencourt is unbelievable. You should also see their video recorded live on Boston Common (a street performance) called Hole Hearted. Amazing live performance. This band was off the charts in talent.
Tell her these thing more!!!she may never know how you feel if you never tell her... If you've ever lost someone close then you'll understand how unexpectedly it can happen.you don't want her never hearing you speak those things, like "I love you", or you're sorry",or thank you,etc...most important phrases in peoples lives.trust...showing how you feel is EQUALLY as important as saying the words.😜but tell her these things often when truly felt or thought. You guys are cool, love your channel!! ✌
I can never get tired of this song's simple beautiful harmony. It's a classic masterpiece.

Agreed. And SO easy on the eyes 😍
Give Marcin Patrzalic a listen you will change your mind
Rheanna's guitarist for her live shows. Listen to Extremes 'cupids dead'
Not just on the guitar, but his harmonies are amazing!!!

48 year old female here. SPOT ON! Ugghh, learned that the hard way. 🤦
Words are hollow when used without action. Look for the discord between what a person says and does.
Ps that is why they made this song. You can search it up and they explain exactly that
"Hole Hearted" by Extreme is one of my favorites....great acoustical voices.
💯
Mine too
One of my fav extreme songs
Yes! I also love that one too

Important lesson and I dont think anyone else in the crowd was "uncomfortable" having you there either. Keep enjoying good music.
I had a very similar experience except reversed the first time I went to see Del the Funky Homo-sapien
You're mother is a smart woman
Love this. Bravo. Awesome mom too. 😊
Music knows no boundaries.
Simplicity is a wonderful thing. Beautiful harmonies and a guitar. All I need.
Thank god this song happened. Completely killed this crap and allowed good music to happen. This song was the funeral for hair bands.
The guitarist, Nuno Bettencourt, can shred on the electric guitar.
He is an incredible player, no doubt
One of the best
I saw Brian May of queen break down his solo in get the funk out, said he couldn’t ply it, and would put it up against any solo ever. HIGH praise
He's nasty on Rest in Peace!
Portuguese power 😁

It's a Monster. Pornograffiti, He-man Woman Hater, these songs all rock.

You guys should check out Extreme's Queen medley at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. They killed it!! Amazing band live!
Their was a lot of comparison with Queen. Good vocal range and they played every kind of music.
I love this song so much. Its a blast from my younger years. Beautiful song 🎵 ❤ Enjoyed y'alls reaction Brad and Lex 🔥❤
They’ve definitely got some heavier stuff - “Get The Funk Out”, for instance.

I feel like this song is about the girl always saying I love you. It's mechanical. It should be said when you are truly feeling it... in the moment.
I feel like this is a song about a dude trying to get his girl to put out. A little less conversation, a little more action.
2+ years when this song came out it was played at every wedding I went to.
One of the most underrated bands ever. Saw them a few years ago at a music festival and they still sound amazing.
This is my wife and my song. It was hugely popular when we were just two dumb high school kids in love. I even leaned how to play it for her back then. Always a good listen for me.
This was their 1 ballad they were called extreme because their music went from one extreme to another nuno bettencort is an incredible guitar player and this singer sang for Van Halen for one record after Sammy check out the song Kid ego or just about anything else by them
"Tragic Comic" by Extreme is one you two should definitely review. GREAT video!
Wow, I haven't thought of that song in decades! 😯
These lyrics validate my whole life. I'm female. "Love" is a easy word to fling verbally around with no weight behind it.
Showing someone you love them by your actions is much more important than pretty words.
Yes grew up with these songs!!!
Y'all gotta hear Get The Funk Out. This guitar player Nuno Bettencourt is unbelievable. You should also see their video recorded live on Boston Common (a street performance) called Hole Hearted. Amazing live performance. This band was off the charts in talent.
Nuno Bettencourt also plays guitar in Rhiannas touring band!
Our wedding song 30 years ago... We still stop and dance to it wherever we're at...
You’d better get a clue Brad! Lex is all but telling you “show me AND tell me that you love me.” She’s a true gem, better treat her like one!
Done by the Everly Brothers years ago. Beautiful song!!!
