The secret to this song is Nuno playing the guitar percussively. His tapping and hitting on the guitar body as he plays fills the song and gives it extra emotion. Perfection.
It’s nice to be able to come back to songs like this. In its day, you couldn’t escape from this song, it was everywhere to the point t where people actually grew tired of it. Reaction channels like yours allow many of us to appreciate what we may have previously dismissed.
The guitarist (Nuno Bettencourt) is generally recognized as one of the best electric guitar players in the world So it's always been a bit funny that this is the most famous song he plays on :)
The only thing any of them couldn't do was be the lead singer for Van Halen (Gary Charone was always a strange choice - very talented but absolutely wrong choice).
Such a wonderful breath of fresh air. Your reactions are so genuine. Love it girl, keep it up. Us musicians love it and you ❤❤❤ even us part time players
true! been at wembley '92 ... epic day! ♥ but sorry to correct you: it wasn't "the Queen tribute concert", but "The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness" ... *high5
Bisscute: your tastes are so wide ranging that it's like a box of chocolate; open it, tune in and see what you're gonna get. Totally loved today's selection, a song long known to my ear, but it's always nice to see it appreciated by a music aficionado like you. Bravo! 💕
This is one of thoose songs that you cant help but sing along with! Great message about showing love! ❤ The harmony and acoustic guitar are so well blended! Takes me back once again to the old days, with a smile! 😁 Thanks for the reaction Biss!❤💛
Do "Get The Funk Out", "Decadent Dance", "Rest In Peace", "#Rebel", "Rise", "Play With Me" (this one from the live Take Us Alive concert🔥) The Take Us Alive concert is an exceptional representation of this band! Other songs from this concert are "Cupids Dead", "Take Us Alive", "Whole Hearted", "Star" and "Am I Ever Gonna Change". Seriously the list goes on and on. This is the greatest band you never heard of until now!
Great choice, Biss. This song definitely makes me feel a certain kinda way.. 🥺 The lyrics are really incredible, and I love how simple - yet so powerful - the black-n-white video is. _"It's not that I want you._ _Not to say, but if you only knew.."_
Extreme is fantastic, and Nuno Bettencourt is a legend to many guitarists, and to appreciators of guitar driven music in general. For more extreme, I'd recommend "Get the Funk Out" or "Do You Wanna Play" (which was also in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure) to give you an idea of what lies ahead on your Extreme journey. There is a lot of history with this band to dive into if you find them interesting. Thank you for all of your reactions, I really enjoy them. Cheers!
I was working thru college at a Long John Silvers when this song was out. We had these microphones at the time on the fron counters to call back special orders... after close at times we would put rubber bands over the push button mainly to annoy whoever was in back. I was up front counting the drawers and (while i cant really sing) someone had this song playing on the radio so i started singing into the mic. One of the other employees grabbed the other oneand egged me on to keep going. He could sing tho. So we did the duet, myself and Brian. 2 months later his cousin called him out of class to fly down and audition for a group he later joined, called the Backstreet Boys.
Always love your reactions, Bisscute! If you'd like to hear these guys at the other end of their musical spectrum, try "Rise" from their 2023 album "Six". Nuno's solo from that thing became an instant legend among guitarists. Enjoy!
Oh wow. Don't really see Extreme reactions very often. Good choice here. There's an album called "Monster Ballads" all 80s songs. Totally worth listening to on a rainy day.
I love your complacent face when a song/video likes you; I also love your accurate comments. Greetings my dear Bisscochute ... I mean Bisscute (little mexican joke : ) ).
I love this song, but as much as I love it, I almost have a bone to pick with it for being part of the reason that most people don't know Nuno Bettencourt is probably in the top ten guitarists of all time imo. Gonna echo a few other people and beg for a reaction to Get the Funk Out. Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, has gone on record to say the solo from that song is his favorite guitar solo ever.
Haha I knew you would love this song. This was their huge hit. They also had a big hit with Hole Hearted that is full band acoustic and more upbeat that I also would suggest, but for something completely electric and mind blowing, check out Play With Me. Nuno Bettencourt is one of the best guitarists in rock music history, and it shows on that song.
Have a look at Other Side of the Rainbow off the latest album Six. Good to see them back with a great album. I saw them in Wolverhampton a few weeks ago. Amazing rock band!
Extreme r from Boston, they broke big in 1990 w/ this 2nd album 'Pornograffiti'... It sold 2x platinum and this single became an essential 'slow dance' song. Extreme scored another acoustic hit from this album - 'Hole hearted'... Unfortunately, Extreme became this cautionary tale in the 90's as 3rd album 'III sides to every story' only sold gold in the US and they were not known for their rock songs. Extreme released 'Waiting for the punchline' in 1995, but it sold poorly and they disbanded in 1996. The original Extreme was: Gary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Pat Badger (bass) and Paul Geary (drums) In 1998, Gary Cherone joined Van Halen as the singer and released 1 album 'Van Halen III'... He was not a good fit for Van Halen and was out of the band by 2000. Extreme eventually reunited and has released 2 more albums. Other songs by Extreme - 'Get the funk out' ... 'Hip today' ... 'Rest in peace'... "Mutha (Don't want to go to school today)"
In life, two extremes usually occur: those who frequently say I love you without proving it with actions, and those who spend their entire lives without ever daring to say I love you, one as bad as the other, until they no longer dare to say I love you. there is a remedy. In any case, a beautiful song, which has remained despite the years that have passed, is from 1991 and the reason is obvious, the beautiful message it transmits and the beautiful interpretation. Greetings Bisscute and a big hug from Mexico City.
Extreme is one of the most underrated bands in history. They were known as the "More than words" guys. They have several songs to bang your head (Get the funk out, Decadence dance, Kid ego) but also ballads (Hole hearted, tragic comic, song for love). Even its vocalist, Gary Cherone, spent some time singing with Van Halen, I recommend that you only listen the song "Without you", the only interesting song from Van Halen's Cherone era
More than words to show you how I love your reaction ;-) If I can remember 'twas 1991 when I was enchanted by this song, I picked up my guitar to look for the chords but I needed 2 voices to sing the song! Lovely memories.
At the time, I was a high school thrash metalhead, but I learned all of these hair band ballads on guitar 'cause they made my high school sweetheart's heart melt. We'd be at the mall and hit the music store, and I'd pick up a guitar and start that opening and you could see teen girl doe eyes in all directions. Powerful stuff.
Hello Miss Bisscute ( Madalina) This Is A Beautiful Song Indeed that reminds me of A Bee Gee's Song as well ( Words ) both make you think about the words We Try to use to touch one's Soul !!! As always the like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🤗🌞🌅
Underrated band! I love their albums, had a crush on Nuno Bettencourt when I was a teenager (u can see why ) and I really like Gary Cherone vocals. He's a really talented singer.
This is a sappy ballad, and it's a great sappy ballad if that's your thing. Hole hearted - Extreme is a little more upbeat and less sappy, if you want a song that's not going to bring you down.
Whenever I hear this song, I think of a song with a very similar message (and I think of this one when I hear that one). The song, "When You Say Nothing At All" has been covered by several artists but my favorite is Allison Kraus.
Dear sweet biscuit I enjoy listening to your reactions because you don't interrupt the song too much so I get to actually enjoy it with you that is a good thing and I do love your action but it mostly I love the fact that you do not interfere with the song as it's going through very little how old is much like enjoying it with you the first time you hear it thank you very much
Your facial expression at 5:30 is exactly why this song is a classic. They tease that final peak a few times, but when it hits - all the emotion kind of rushes over you.
One of the best unplugged tracks ever. Such deep lyrics, more than what most people take away initially. I feel it's even more than something physical...it's a deep commitment.
One of my favorite rock bands but they are very versatile musicians. I just heard a song today from another channel called “get the funk out” in which I didn’t know it was them,,,,totally awesome!
These guys were/are also very dear friends with Brian May and the group Queen… At the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, they performed the most STUNNING Queen medley! thank you for this funny reaction. Extreme is a group of great talents, Gary has a magical voice and Nuno is a genius guitarist. if you want to see all the energy of this group I advise you to see other more rhythmic songs, like "rise". thanks again

This song was massive in its day and you could not escape it on the radio which was our main choice for music… I never got tired of this song it always gives me chills
Yes, I'm old.. I remember when this album came out. This song was great and the entire album was awesome. I listened to it almost non stop for a long time. Nuno is one of the best guitarists ever. Gary's voice has always been fantastic. This band is one of the most underrated of that era.
Ok, let's go: The song is excellent, as for your reaction it is also excellent as always Madalina/Bisscute and if I had to recommend a song to you I would recommend Mascara da Pitty from my country Brazil, anyway, keep up the work you are doing beautiful and Brazilian greetings!
I grew up seeing this band we were all musicians at the same time playing the same clubs and bars and I do love your reaction to this song... I think I like it more now than when it first came out and they although it put them out in the world in a big way they we're basically a funk rock band with some diverse styles as well... They felt that this song never showcased who they really were but it is their masterpiece 💜
Hi Sunshine, great song. If you want to see what is so alluring about you, simply watch this video and watch all your facial movements. They bring a smile to my face, a warmth in my heart and happiness in my day. BTW, that shade of lipstick you are wearing is perfect for you. Thanks for being you. Mark
Hello Bisscute! Nice to meet you! More than words, an excellent ballad that still sounds strong in different parts of the world. What a good selection of songs you have. You are a good listener of good music! I suggest you react together as one by Stryper.
There was a rumor that this record was one of the most returned to stores when it came out because people bought it for this song & then the rest of the songs were metal. I don't know if it's true though. Great song.
This is one of the first songs I ever remember hearing. My dad used to sing this in car rides, and it always sounded so beautiful to me. 🖤
He was the 3rd singer of Van Halen. But we don't talk about that
I want to talk about it... 😊
Nuno Bettencourt, the guitarist, is very much an icon in the guitar world. His signature guitars are with Washburn. 😊😊

The guitarist (Nuno Bettencourt) is generally recognized as one of the best electric guitar players in the world
So it's always been a bit funny that this is the most famous song he plays on :)
It's also the most un-Extreme like Extreme song.
Extreme is a VERY versatile group. Rock, funk, easy listening... anything. They can do it.
The only thing any of them couldn't do was be the lead singer for Van Halen (Gary Charone was always a strange choice - very talented but absolutely wrong choice).
I would recommend “Hole Hearted” as another great song from Extreme
They really are a great band... Nuno is an exceptional musician
Such a wonderful breath of fresh air. Your reactions are so genuine. Love it girl, keep it up. Us musicians love it and you ❤❤❤ even us part time players
This band can play anything. Nuno Bettencourt is a guitar virtuoso. I've been a fan for over 30 years.
Can't stand the band. But Nuno IS one of the best No one can say otherwise if they are educated.
One of the greatest guitar players and so underrated!
They just dropped a new album this year. Check out the song Rise. Nuno smokes the strings right off his guitar. Dude still has it.
@@davidcollins897 "Hurricane" is my favorite track on the new album so far.
Portuguese greatness
They can also rock - they played at the Queen tribute concert - and did a great job on a few Queen songs.

An 80's jam band that had great power ballads like this and Whole Hearted...my fav rockin tune by them is called Get the Funk Out...🔥😬
Recorded in 89, came out in 90.
