I'm a Hoosier native, and a lefty to boot....but I grew up watching Hooking Bob destroy the pinheads. No slant to M.A., I would always try to imitate B.H.'s style. Thanks for sharing!!!✌️
Mike Aulby prevails when Mark Baker left the 6 7 9 10 split on his first shot in the 10th frame to win the Indianapolis Open in front of his hometown crowd
If you did not know any better, you would have thought that Tami Aulby was bowling instead of Mike. She was on camera almost as much as he was. But, can you blame the director, she was a gorgeous woman. Great bowling. Jay and Earl did the job they were paid to do. Were these two as good as Chris and Nelson? No, in my very humble experience. Chris and Nelson had years of broadcast experience under their belts compared to Jay/Earl.
I often found it interesting the guys on tour back then wearing all those gizmos and widgets just for the bonus money when appearing on TV. Most of that stuff didn't do squat for their game. If anything, it would have hindered their game. I know most of them altered those gizmos and widgets so that it wouldn't.
--From what I can glean from googling his name, Jim Murtishaw had an interesting career in bowling, most of his income coming from his pro shop. It was sad to see him fall apart in his game against Aulby, starting when he missed the head pin in the 4th. Aulby really stepped on his neck after that. Experience means so much. Anyway, he started senior's tour 2009 after his son got interested in bowling. His 70s stroke style can really benefit from every-ball-is-a-tank modern equipment.
43:00 Great conversion for Handley
Liked the commentary by Mr Earl Anthony 🎯

The wrist guards had a metal plate that they took out. All those devices are garbage. I don't use any of it.
I thought the elbow garb that Guppy wore was probably THE WORST of them all.
I like KNBC.

Gupp..
Yes she was! I second that. I had the pleasure of meeting during my brief time on tour. Her and Mike are very nice people too.
you are so very welcome!
3-4-6-7-10 then was almost unheard of. Nice split conversion by Bob though.
Silly threads aside, Guppy was a scrapper. I bet he won a ton on any given night playing for cash with beer league heroes...lol
1. thank you for all these past telecasts
2. Did NBC draw decent ratings for the fall PBA events?
Also, love watching Hooking Bob Handley. 42:48.
baker....
Wasn't Aulby's wife smoking hot???
YES...definitely in the top 3 hottest bowler's wives of all time
