My cousin is a 4 star general (he was for 30 years Brigadier General Stan Lillie), retired now... I love to see military awards being put in a place where the gentleman will still be remembered and celebrated. That sort of thing is very close to my heart. Thank you, Andrew, for recognizing the importance of honoring these men who served.

@@jo-anndinardi6607 So you'd rather this stuff end up in the dump? Because that's where it would end up if it wasn't sold. Andrew is keeping these men and women alive by reselling these pieces to collectors who do honour these people. So what if he makes money doing it? Time, money and storage doesn't come freely and he needs to make a living. Drew is always respectful when discussing military items, not to mention his knowledge of the history and era surrounding it. You would know this if you watched regularly. I smell troll...

Quality is key, pay more you’ll make more. The tree of life is Erica Wilson, I believe. Most of the crewel is. You would need to dry clean those pieces to CYA yourself on bleeding. The red is an acidic dye. It will deteriorate if it wasn’t well rinsed early in its life. The beaded pictures are Mill Hill.

I like quilts when they have some worn areas. Give the piece history, softness and you know it was used. I have a couple really old ones with worn areas. My mom also makes fabulous new quilts. I love those too. She made me a HUGE Christmas quilt in reds, green and creams. It’s STUNNING! But I don’t decorate in traditional Christmas colors. I’m tempted to sell it but then my heart hurts because I know she made it for me. I asked her to make me another in blues, greys and whites. It turned out really well!!! I’m really excited to display it.

Red dye is unstable, so it does creates issues. Typically you used to soak red fabric in salt water to set the dye. And on cutter quilts, if you just collect quilts and display them, you can fold it in a stack and no one knows ( or cares) about small issues! Andrew, for all of us who have issues with chemical smells, please do not use dryer sheets to make the musty smell go away. There’s many articles online to address that issue and none of them had dryer sheets as a solution. Love, love, love your finds. That’s why my first choice of buying to resell is estate sales, you find such great pieces to resell that typically never make it to the thrift stores. Oh, I love the sheep, many people collect sheep just as a decoration.

To remove odors of all kinds: plain kitty litter. A quarter of a cup in a knee high nylon inside a shoe will absorb moisture. I once got HORRIBLE odor out of three ball gowns using a pair of panty hose filled with litter and sealed gowns inside a wedding gown bag. For Drew’s books: I would put kitty litter in hosiery and seal it into a tote or bag and it will do two things: absorb ODOR & more importantly: MOISTURE. Give it a whirl!

I’m a quilter, and you guessed correctly. It’s the dyes that they use in the fabric. The darker the color the longer it must sit in the dye. Which over time will wear much faster than the lighter colors that have a tighter weave. They are all Very Beautiful. I love to find antique and vintage quilts that are not complete. When I can just buy the pieced top, that way I can go through and repair any damage and add batting and back fabric and machine quilt it myself. They are such a treasure, so much history, time, Love, ❤️ go into each one. They are remarkable, and we are so lucky to score one every once in a while. Thanks for another Awesome video 😉 I learn something every time I watch one! Thank you 😊

You are correct. And regardless of vintage, we don't know what the designer had in mind. Nice call.

What are you 28 years old. And Andrew what 30. What did you guys do in high school. Study art, pottery, military, & glassware. You know everything. And it makes me mad cause I know nothing.
☹️ Wait; I do know how to shoot a gun, shoot a bow & arrow. Very good at both. I know Fenton, Fred Bear , & coffee. I know about the war of 1812 and how it impacted Mackinaw Island, Michigan. My favorite flower are lilacs. My name is Sandy Foor. I 65 years old and you guys are so much smarter than I was at that age. So keep enlightening me on stuff. I love it. And both of you 🥰

Love watching you guys. I antiqued for close to 40 years. Things change so much over the years as I’m sure you know, as taste in decor. I bought any antique reference book I could find. The prices of course change due to popularity of the times and items. When glassware and all kinds of items go out of style sometimes they are not listed and don’t get the attention they should. So even older reference books may have a piece you are scratching your head over because it is no longer important ( to some publishers) . I’ve found obscure vintage pieces in older collector reference books that many people discard saying the price is no longer correct -but they are invaluable as far as I’m concerned because of the photos and information of origins of forgotten valuables. Even with all the websites available there are treasures in the old reference books and booklets. Hope you don’t mind the old lady ideas. 🙂 I still have close to 400 reference books- old antique lovers 💛never say die-

Keep the kitten. Andrew, those with asthma shouldn't smoke. Please, for your health. I smoked two packs a day, and quit many years ago...I swear. The patch is the answer.

The patch AND the will. You have to want to quit, very badly in order for anything to work. I smoked for many years, it took the gum, the patches, a ton of candy and a ton of will power. 11 years now.

Oh, oh ,oh! That lacey dish from Hungary. My mother was a ceramicist in the 70s through the 90s and she made me a set of kitchen accessories with that forget me not decal on them in the 90s. The same exact decal. Definitely modern, but beautiful.

Also... the first time I heard of eBay was when a friend told me she received a gift from her husband that was a mid-century branded giveaway for her family's long-defunct popcorn business. Someone saved that item and it ended up in a family member's grateful hands. Your respect for the items you save, preserve, and pass on to others is wonderful.

Red is one color that deteriorates more quickly. I believe it is iron oxide in the dye that makes this happen. Also love Eldreth pottery. Have 10 of their Santas.
