@@peytonarredondo Yeah it really is
Honestly, I’m considering boycotting Disney. We don’t need message movies, we need wholesome entertainment for our children to distract them from the horrors of this world, not expose them to more.

I actually liked that Elmo ad. They didnt say "vacinnate your kids NOW!" They where like "educate yourself on the vacinne to understand whats best for your kids!" Which is fine by me!
Agreed
Its perfect as an advertisement cuz its not part of the show so it doesnt affect entertainment for kids and it helps inform ppl to learn more abt vaccination. The pros AND cons
Yeah I didn't think it was that bad. It's clearly "taking" a side but not "pushing" a side
Using kids characters to advertise medication..... that is not okay.
I agree the message was fine, but the target audience was not. The only reason it uses a children's show character is so the kids will go to the parent and ask them about the vaccine, because if Elmo got why, why don't they have one? This is why we have coppa laws, but TV gets to ignore those.
@@viperstriker4728 I still think it's fine. They didn't make the kid make a decision, they stirred up conversation with the parents.
Toy commercials are way, way worse.
@@yol_n In the case of a toy commercial, the worst outcome is wasted money on something stupid. With a medical treatment, the worst case includes death.
Need I point out how schools have literally given kids hormones without parental consent. There is no guarantee this turns into a conversation with the parents.
This is about planting the idea in the kids head. Again we have coppa laws because it has long been recognized that advertising to children has risks.
i'll be honest, i loved the big hero six movie. the message was great, it was visually beautiful, and pretty funny at times too. *but* disney should stop making spin offs in general, both because of the political agenda and they're just bad in general, since most of the times you can notice they're supposed to just be cash grabs, usually they alter the character development from the movie, or add more information that doesn't make sense with the world building from the movie
I'll be honest, I was crying in the cinema while Mr daughter sat unphased at the end 😭

*The only just punishment for our sins is death. The first part of Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death…” Eternal death is the wages of our sins. God, in His perfect plan, came in the flesh, Jesus Christ (John 1:1,14). Jesus died on the cross bearing the penalty we deserve - death. 2 Corinthians 5:21 teaches us, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Jesus died on the cross in our place to receive the punishment we deserve! As God, Jesus' death provided the forgiveness of sins for the entire world. 1 John 2:2 proclaimed, “He is the propitiation for all our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the sins of the whole world.” The resurrection of Jesus proclaimed His victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:1-28). Praise God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the second part of Romans 6:23 came to life, “…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”*
Big hero 6 came out before the red reckoning….lol it is now a corrupted husk of its former self.

Good to know y'all are just as fed up with all this nonsense as much as everyone else.
I know. And the fact that children might see this is just unbelievable.
The way I see it, if someone likes someone of the same sex, good for them if someone likes someone of the opposite sex, good for them, if someone likes no one, good for them, if someone likes everyone, good for them. It's not like it's got anything to do with me

Honestly, i like this episode of baymax helping a girl through her period and overall just being wholesome
But No, we can’t talk about Periods and Puberty in these Kids shows, because that’s "Woke". I feel bad/worried for all of the kids who will go through puberty and daughters who experience periods for the first time because of people think it’s “woke” to talk about that in kids things when it’s completely natural, then imagine what they’ll do to their kids when their kid’s experience this
EDIT: I see some people are taking this reply the wrong way. So let me explain a bit clearer: No, obviously puberty isn't a woke thing. It is something very natural and I was being sarcastic at the beginning. Children need to know before they go through it but with everyone's reaction to puberty being shown in media nowadays, I am concerned for those children because of what their parents might react since those same parents are probably the same people who hate how puberty is being discussed in the media. Thank you for your understanding
@Silas Hurd Have you watched the episode? i highly doubt talking about normal biology of human being is anywhere near being woke. We kind of have to educate girls when they get their period after all its highly possible to get a period at the age of 11 And besides the only woke thing about this clip is the trans man who uses pads.
What if parents just educated their children instead of setting them in front of a screen?

I didn't think that the episode was that problematic since baymax is a medical robot and a lot of girls get periods young. So yeah it is kinda age appropriate. I got my first period at 10. I was still a kid and that was kinda the point of the episode. The girl was scared she was a "woman" and she isn't. She was still a kid. C:
A wholesome comment! A lot of people don't want young children to learn more about themselves especially those who have periods.
it makes sense thematically, but I think the problem arises in this: periods are a sensitive and personal topic, its something that can be embarrassing(like anything puberty related) and even if there's nothing to be embarrassed about, this is a conversation that kids should have with their parents, not through a Disney show. But they thats just me!
@@rucus5223 that is true to an extent. In the original movie baymax was talking to hero about male puberty such as New body hair and new... urges as they put it in the movie. Baymax saying "thank you" over and over is hilarious, but why does Disney feel the need to turn everything into a virtue-signaling fest?
@Matthew Collins This is a kids show aimed pretty young. The kids watching this are probably barely old enough to buy pads. Disney should not be the one to teach them about the nuances of transgender identity. The only representation here is for adult trans men, which kids don't know or need to know much of anything about yet. Why include it if you're not trying to flash how willing you are to be diverse?
@@jordant889 Nuances? Yikes...
Kids are gonna learn about trans people soon or later, there's no age restriction there. And in terms of representation, a 5-second cameo shouldn't rile up those people who are uncomfortable with the topic, that's on them.
@@JArm1996 Kids will learn about trans people eventually, yes. But Disney should not be the one to decide when and how they should be introduced to it. You make a good point about the cameo length. But since when do parents need to worry about what complicated topics their kids are being introduced to by a children’s show. While I agree, the sad truth is, alot of parents/ guardians don't.
It should be a normal thing. Not in the way that you should talk about it during dinner, but in the way girls wouldn't be panicked or embarrassed when it happens. The message wasn’t “you’re oppressed for being a minority so now we have to cater to you.” It was a talking toy or a fish feeling different and discouraged and going on some big adventure and believing in themselves. Simple things a kid would understand and not feel crappy for. A fun story that would teach you “if Ariel can stop an evil octopus, you can do you homework.”
Educating kids on minorities that some people hate on shouldn’t make them feel crappy, and the movie is supposed to educate them on topics like this so they can understand it.
Ok, and their movies are still like that? Spot on with the periods, pun not intended. It's a normal function, we shouldn't be ostracized for it happening. But we shouldn't normalize it. Why? It's a function of our bodies relating to reproduction, and should be treated with respect, the same way everyone (until we blinked) said to keep the locker room talk in the locker room or not do it at all.
Morning wood's a thing. There should be no stigma in it occurring, but there should be stigma if you're worshipping it in any way or using it to make others uncomfortable. No need to bring it up, make it a casual part of conversation, or use it to be a jerk. Same thing about cramps and sneeze clots, they happen and every female human experiences it. That doesn't mean we should talk about it at the dinner table, the same way no one polite would discuss farting or vomiting. The same way we cover our coughs and do our business in a separate room? That's the respect we should treat our reproductive systems. Normal and everyday, but not to share with everyone.
I half agree with you We should definitely normalize it, as in teaching our kids it’s normal and that it’s nothing to be afraid of, and that they can come to there parents (mom or dad) if they have questions or concerns, but maybe not talking about it loudly in public isn’t a good idea

Young children are watching these movies. They don’t need to know about this stuff.
It's just, why is this even in a CHILDRENS show? People who justify this make no sense to me. Parents should be the ones talking to their daughter about this. It's such a weird thing to celebrate about a normal thing women do
That's the problem. It needs to be normalized, yes...girls shouldn't feel embarrassed or ashamed about it. They should know it's normal and they're okay, that other girls experience it, too. idk man i'm super conservative, i watched the whole short and it was kinda harmless. i was never insecure about getting my first period when i was younger but if i was, seeing this might've made me accept it more. it's kinda sweet tbh. and with the trans dude, again it's harmless it can be seen as some guy buying it for his daughter or something. nothing in the short was explicit, it was just about how it's okay and it's totally natural, don't be afraid. it's something you might even see in health class. again, nothing explicit. but i def see a problem bc it's like well what're they gonna talk about next?
@@r.achel044 This isn't meant to be a criticism of you, nor to tear you down in any way, but if you were 100% okay with this, then I don't think you fall into the "super conservative" group. Yes, normalizing periods can be healthy for young girls, but the fact they threw in all the other leftist talking points is what people are upset about.
Think of it in terms of a metaphor. You add a piece of straw on one side of a balance, and a bowling ball on the other side. You think "this straw weighs nothing in comparison!" But then you add one piece of straw here, one piece there, and after a bit of time, suddenly all that straw can't be lifted by even 10 bowling balls on the other side.
These things, these talking points, are slipped in quietly, a tiny bit at a time, for a reason. To seem unassuming. To seem completely innocent. But they're not. These are dangerous ideologies, and they can't be permitted in any quantity nor to any extent.
Any adult taking their children to that place is abusing their children.
I'm interested to see how the fall of Disney will impact American culture and all the companies it owns. Marvel will be free from its tyrannical reign. Star Wars may not get as many spinoffs (which I'm not sure I'd be happy about), and Pixar would have an interesting time. They may start making films that hold true to their original values and start making them more curious and expressive - Luca was great, but Pixar has been falling into Disney's ideals recently so I'm interested to see how this will affect that. Cor, Disney is becoming too idiotic to handle.
I hope all of those properties actually enter public domain, but I am doubtful. Disney spends a lot to get enough political favors.
@@maxpowers9129 Pixar can't enter the public domain, as it's a company. Star Wars would still be owned by Lucasfilm, so it's not in that category either. And the MCU hasn't been around for nearly long enough to make that happen yet. So I don't think so XD
@@ashm9952 The issue is that old copyrights all over should have expired by now, but Disney keeps lobbying the government to expand the copyrights. Most of Disney's big properties, should have expired long ago.
@@maxpowers9129 I agree, but I don't think that Pixar, Star Wars, and the MCU could have anyway. Maybe Star Wars. But the MCU is not very old at all, and Pixar is a living company that can't lose its own trademark to the public domain. It can only lose ownership of certain films.

Also fun fact, I'm Ukrainian and I think it's absolutely fascinating that the moment the war started our Covid cases went to 0 :)
The only reason they did that was because they wanted to make sure that it couldn't possibly be construed as anything else.
Honest question, if you were an animator, and your assignment was to draw this scene, how would you draw a trans person?
@@mely598 well, it would depend on what the approach my director wanted me to take. A) it could be a very exaggerated, “not passing” approach. Like a person with visible curvature of breasts and a beard for example. That might be misconstrued as too cartoonish and might even be too comedic which might not be the intent of the scene. Or B) where it’s just a person who looks like everyone else and is implied through dialogue to be trans. Straight people don’t need to put a flag on their shirt to show who they are so when someone (in this case a trans person/ activist) does that, it feels more forced, performative and unnatural
@@eugenebezpalko1631 youre dodging. Background character that appears for 5 seconds but needs to be identifiable as trans in an instant, because reasons. There is only reasonable way to solve that. You slap a flag on them and call it good. This isnt a main character to spend time on. Its the same concept if it was a sports fan. You throw them in a cap and a jersey and move on. And now that ive said that i realize its a great comparison. Its just another team. Get over your victorian hangups and catch up with the 21st century
@@mely598 how is me replying to your question "dodging"?
I also don't think putting a cap on someone and making them wear a jersey makes them a sports fan. Maybe instead of having slapstick "representation" and putting people in extremely tight but also extremely varied boxes we should let people be people and be more then check boxes for someone's agenda?
A movie I remember from a few years back (and at the moment the title escapes me) had a single dad going shopping for his barely teenage daughter. And he walks into the feminine hygiene aisle and wham - deer in the headlights. As a father of 3 daughters I could empathize with him. Then this grey haired motherly type spots him, figures out his dilemma and helps him get something appropriate for a 13 year old girl. It was handled tastefully and with a little humor -and much more tact than the Big Hero clip. And I'm sure it put a lot of dads out there at least a little more at ease should they find themselves in a similar situation. And who knows, maybe it served to open up a channel of dialog for dads and daughters, making the subject of periods just a little less embarrassing for both of them.
Why are adults changing children shows to be appealing to them?
They didn’t go over the kind to have in your first aid kit, for their normal use, but also for filling deep puncture wounds to slow blood loss.

Personally speaking (I grew up with 3 sisters and a single and useless "mother") it hits Me different because I had to help my youngest sister Through it. Okay in the present now my wife and I had to explain to our 7 year old boy what a period is. Thanks, Disney soooo much for showing a non age appropriate topic in a children's show. He now won't shut up about it and keeps asking people if they have periods too.
Then tell him that it's not ok to ask such personal questions to people he doesn't know what they're comfortable with. There's nothing non age appropriate about that, it's just a part of life.

Honestly, I love how passionate you are when you do all of these videos! And this is such a good idea for a channel cuz there’s unlimited content for you, haha. Maybe too much sometimes.
I just want to share my opinion of this since I am 13 and still technically a child, I like how they include periods and LGBTQ+ because I saw the movie when I was 5-6 years old and honestly I think that's the audience they were appealing to. Since me and many other girls who watched Big Hero 6 have now grown, we have had/will have our period so it just feels more inclusive because it attracts younger kids but also the ones that watched it back in 2014. I have nothing against them showing children, both boys and girls, periods because it should be normalized. No girl should feel bad because she has it and no boy should be disgusted by it. So what if they ask questions? Just tell them so it won't be something they will find un-natural in the future.
Secondly, the trans man and trans people in general should be normalized because, believe it or not, those people exist in our world and we should respect their personal choice. Whether you agree with it or not, let them live their lives and you yours. Before I get any hate, I just want to re-specify that this is just an opinion of someone who is most-likely the directed audience for the movie and is 13 so please be understanding of my perspective.
But men can’t have periods…
@@hondusa3639 males can’t, if a female with a reproductive system felt like a man (because gender dysphoria is a real mental illness) she could identify as a man. Man and woman are terms made up by society, they are what we call “genders”. Sexes, which you can’t change, are male and female.
Why does a 13 year old person makes more sense than the entire video? please stop the hate🙃...
This makes me want to trash my copy of Big Hero 6. I was already bothered, when I watched it with my nephews about a month ago, by the realization of how many puberty jokes they put in the movie, just knowing now how sexualized Disney is intentionally trying to be. But this is just way over the top.
It’s so sad because that movie was so cute and so good but it’s just too woke
Do it. Trash it. Show your nephews how to take a stand. 👍
It seemed pretty tame to me. It’s got a PG rating.
Do you remember Hunchback of Notre Dame? Main villain was so sexually obsessed with Esmeralda that he went on a murder spree. G rating.
@@ascendednightingale2456 Sure and it didn't bother me the first time, but now that I know what Disney is actually trying to do behind the scenes, that context makes it much worse. I haven't seen the Hunchback in like twenty years probably but I do feel like there's a difference between showing a villain in that kind of light, especially in a very dark story, versus just constantly shoving "hey kids your body is going to change why don't you think about that" into an otherwise totally innocent kids movie. One seems much creepier and "groomier" to me.
I remember watching those sitcom shows from Disney, one's like Jessie. My mom stopped letting my siblings and I watch them because we could take on the character traits of the characters. We would be extremely mean to each other after watching the shows. I didn't see it when I was younger, but when I rewatched one episode a couple of years later, I saw the flaming garbage those characters portrayed.
Honestly, if the scene had just been Baymax asking a very flustered lady which period products to buy, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. Part of Baymax's charm is he's a robot - he feels no shame and he regularly makes humans uncomfortable with his objectiveness. That and he's a Healthcare robot, so him buying pads isn't that big of a stretch.
But then it just gets worse and worse. I haven't seen the episode, but apparently it's dedicated TO the girl getting her period, which is already cringe at best. Then we have an entire aisle of absolute strangers just bursting at the seams eager to recommend their period products - like just because the robot feels no shame doesn't mean _nobody_ should feel a little cautious about it. Then we have the legendary trans "man", and it's made even more awful by the fact that "he's" wearing the trans pride flag on "his" freaking t-shirt; Disney is about as subtle as a metal shovel repeatedly beating into your face, "ITS A TRANS MAN. DID YOU CATCH THAT? ITS A MAN WHO GETS PERIOD, ITS A TRANS MAN. NO? HERE HOW ABOUT THE TRANS FLAG T SHIRT FOR CLARITY."
Yeah I felt like they were shoving that last bit down our throat. There was no subtlety here.
Honestly, I'm a little surprised that Baymax didn't already have tampons in his inventory, considering one of his main functions is first aid and tampons can be used in many first aid applications. The trans man doesn't make sense if they're on hormone therapy.
@@Good_Boy_3000 Also true. So there's two scenarios that are entirely forced just so Disney could make this scene - Baymax not already having tampons in his inventory, and a trans "man" apparently not "male" enough for her period to have stopped.
