- Off the CUFF we call it. AKA, after a lot of time and the world's slowest editing software, I'm proud to give you 20 min of casual chat on Lightlark 3 details. At this point, the rituals are intricate and I am the foremost expert on them.
All 3 of these books have valid warrior cat names for titles.
OMG YOU'RE RIGHT
Larklight is a real WC character lol
(I don't think bane is used in WC though)
God damn it. God. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Incredible work
I am delighted
Well then I guess it’s time for me to write a WC fanfic about cats with these names and character traits (and flaws) inspired by this train wreck of a series. But let’s be honest half this series is just Warriors if it were ACOTAR already. Nightbane for sure getting into that patented WC forbidden romance. Skyshade is training in the dark forest for like half a book and then immediately realizes that Cat Hell isn’t ideal. Lightlark is like the child of the Skyclan leader dealing with (definitely real and not imagined) expectations and pressure from it. Life is good.
"skyshade" is just an umbrella
damn kkkkkk ur so right
My first thought was a cloud
The next one could credibly be called "Clownshoes"
Girl I thought skyshade was a Skylander’s name at first.
it's giving "go girl, give us nothing" in a way that's not even entertaining, it's just tiring
The blurb legitimately does drive me mad in a way you can tell I struggle to articulate. There's not a single plot detail in it that is properly new, or a hint of anything to come. We have snakes and orbs on the cover and there's not like a line of. Idk. "A great magical danger found in a surprising place" or "the ancient creatures know more than they wish to say". It truly gives you nothing but the same empty promises
I love how literally nobody cares about this series anymore except for the people picking apart its flaws. The clown wasn’t very funny while he was alive, but what we find within him during the autopsy certainly is!!
I'm very aware I could just stop and in some way me doing this prolongs Lightlarks relevance. But.... not really. No one truly gives a shlt in such an incredible way. Sure, lots of folks dunked on lightlark. No one really showed for nightbanes wake. I'm not sure skyshades cremation will be attended by much more than some choice sickos (I am one of them)
I keep going "if this series had any fans there'd be any sincere fanart" and there just. Really isnt
The thing is... The thing is... I've invested far too much time in this series for me to just stop. And I've never even read the book! I don't even want to image how much time YOU have spent (& wasted?) with the Lightlark Saga.
Sunk cost fallacy, let's goooo!
@@Crowcaller Have you considered contrasting your lightlark takedowns with rewrite novels of your own? You're an author, too, aren't you? Not only would this be good practise, something that all writers need, but it could also be fun and help something good coming from those books.
@@CrowcallerI mean, I am in the discord of another podcast who are gonna read this, but like….not cuz it’s ‘good’.
hi the last sentence of this was incredible and i will be thinking about it forever
Orbs! Orbs! Orbs! Orbs! Can’t wait for when it comes out and I get to hear crow say orbs like 80 times
Loved when the book said its orbing time and orbed over all those skyshades
It is time to ponder the orb!
Okay, names--on Lightlark, Isla falls in love with Oro (and Grim). In Nightbane, she falls in love with Grim (and Oro). In Skyshade, she dies and Oro and Grim fall on live with each other. Or Isla will decide to go for polyamory and start adding to her harem
I need Isla to start collecting a harem of all the rulers so she can become the one true queen of all of the realms
@@theflyingspaget The true solution to a power vacuum: polyamory
@@lagggoat7170 ProZD voice : why don't we just f each other? Just... Like a one big f pile.
@@Tamaki742 AND SO ANIME WAS SOLVED FOREVER
Its not the only book to do it, but its such a good example of how nearly every single teenager who reads fantasy (myself included) gets a Story Idea that involves a multiplicity of characters and culminates in a big stupid war, but then when you actually try to write the darn thing you realize that you mostly just had like 4 cutscenes in your head and have no actual connective tissue between them whatsoever. Literally you could have had one halfway entertaining standalone novel if you just bothered to integrate the flashbacks from book 2 into book 1 and keep a tight scope on the characters, but nah we gotta Do A War bc that what all the Big Fantasies do
The turn around of these books is also incredibly fast. That's reflected in the books. Publishing is generally over a year process, but Aster seems to be writing and having her books published within a year, which suggests she's working fast and getting it edited... fast. Too fast for substantial edits and reflections, I'd say. Or apparently planning.
Like, we all write differently. But it's hard to ignore how little lightlark/nightbane felt planned ahead (especially between the two books, which retconned a bunch of weird details and added strange stuff). Writing is hard, and writing a cohesive series is even more work! Lightlark feels extremely made up on the spot and bound to tropes and cliches. What's a book plot again? Uhhhh. A competition. Or a war. Probably both. Maybe two wars!!! That's good enough, right??
@@Crowcaller @Crowcaller its so sad, bc i can SEE the potential in all the little brick stacks she's put together, if only she had the time and creative resources to figure out how best to stack and mortar them. Then maybe she could have a book series that wasn't so blatant about where she gets her inspirations from, or at least feels more like a loving homage more than it feels like she took a dry pencil rubbing of ACOTAR's surface texture lmao.
It's literally just you, KrimsonRogue, and Readswithrachel keeping this series alive LMAO. Godspeed, can't wait for that unhinged review!!
I would also recommend little duck book clubs videos! They have a breakdown of nightbane that’s hilarious
And james tullos :P
And Julien Greystoke (I hope that is how to write their name) I love their reviews about this series.
Lol, so really what I'm getting is that the only people reading this series are the reviewers tearing it apart. Why do I feel like Aster made some Faustian bargain?
@@noga9895 you will have fortune, but also a um, a kind of fame
I still can't get over the fact that Isla's name is pronounced that way
I'm still refusing to look up and watch asters tiktoks so part of me is afraid I am still getting it wrong
@@Crowcalleri think it's pronounced like island?? sometimes there are characters named isla in barbie movies and they always say it like island lol
@@blablablam100no but that’s the thing, in English Isla would be eye-la and in Spanish it’d be ees-la but she says eyes-la. And also got really excited her main character name was top 3 for baby names and it’s like girl… Isla pronounced correctly has been a popular name for years wtf do you mean??
I'm still astonished we're publishing drawn out, hollow love triangles of female main character fought over by one hot nice blonde guy and one hot angsty dark haired guy. when will it be over
When the market finally dies or they stop trending or whatever.
I need to rewatch shadow and bone, that show was, shamefully, hell of fun and messed around with the triangle nimbly I thought
Back in elementary school, my friends and I wrote books. now because we wrote these all together and were children, they ended up very stilted. some parts had characters that showed up for one chapter, most main characters were way too powerful, and we constantly grappled with each other within the story about what the focus truly was going to be. I would like to commend Alex Aster for managing that level of writing as a single, adult person.
my theory of the nondescript blurb is that it’s super vague because aster hasn’t really thought of a plot or anything like that yet
The thing that is so fascinating about Lightlark to me is that these books do have fans. However, despite that Lightlark never managed to cultivate a fandom, there is no fanart and only 2 pages of fics on ao3. Which says a lot. Lightlark doesn't inspire creativity in it's fans. Say what you want about SJM, but she does have a legit fandom, which is still rather active.
About this becoming a six-book series, i really don't understand what Alex Aster can write about. From what I gathered the only thing the fans are remotely interested in is the guy Isla will choose. And reading only about Isla's love dramas for 4 more books will probably make the audience lose interest really quickly. And there are no secondary characters or side-pairings that will make people want to read the rest.
one about grimmy and one about oros past? no idea whgat the fifth is about, i mrean thats what i can imagine wuld maybe be justified?!
Oh and she kinda could do one about azul, but i fear if she tries to make azul a relevant chareacter.
SJM was never my jam but at least that woman can write and spin an interesting story. Aster is just a mess from start to end, the prose is horrible and the story redundant and confusing. How this ever got published is a mystery to me to this day and the fact that it is planned as a 6 book series when everyone already gave up after the second is just unbelievable. I would like to have a talk with the publisher in charge tbh.
@@marocat4749 I don't think there are people interested in reading about Azul.
I don't think fanfics are a good measurement of how popular the original media is. There are lots of books and media that did pretty well but there's no fanfic on AO3 or at least very little of it. This happens sometimes when fans are not really interested in making fanfics and more interested in joining a community. An Enchantment of Ravens is one of those types of books. Really good, well written and somewhat popular. But as of now there are eight fanfics in total, mine included. There's a community of the fans but there's just not enough fanfic.

What do you mean there's going to be more than 3 books in this series?? This series does NOT need to be longer than 3 books; it just doesn't.
Someone in the discord pointed out light/night/sky are three of the kingdoms approximately, so we may see moon/star/wild for a total of 6 books.
I think book 1 was one book too many
My guesses for the next 3 books in the series:
StarBright
MoonDark
WildWiles
This series didn’t need to be one book long to be honest
I thought it was a single book that became a duology because I think I heard that somewhere. So this third book was a shock.
This is like a pregame but for hating. I absolutely love it.
It’s orbin time 😊
FINEEEEEE ill re-watch your Lightlark and Nightshade videos for the 82nd time 😌😌😌
I have never been more excited for all the wrong reasons
It's honestly wild the release date is again early November . One, it's like a year since last book, a crazy fast turn around. Two. Well. The USA elections are very close to it, proving disasters often come in clusters
Skyshade featuring orbees 😂
It'd be extremely in character at this point to say 'villain arc time!' in all the tiktok marketing and then have there be barely any kind of a villain arc for Isla at all, just like the first one was marketed as magic hunger games and then there was barely a competition. At this point I'm looking forward to hearing all the dumb twists that become more and more nonsense as she tries to keep interest in her writing.
7:10 “who’s acclaiming her ?” 😂. I’m also predicting there is gonna be a lot of 4th wing tropes shoved in there as well since that was super popular. Also I wonder who Isla is gonna end up with in this one: Joro Biden or Shadow the Edgehog?
I'm putting money on her ending up with ORB
ORB who won the 2013 kentucky derby?? an unexpected pull, but i see the vision... pulling ahead in the race for isla's heart... orbla otp 5evr
"Hey so there was plot before, I guess we'll just keep going with that?" What a great blurb. I'm only disappointed that there are no more seductive haunts
The weird snake makes me wonder if this is another case of a big publisher using AI on the cover 😩
Wait, why is it _Skyshade?_ Surely it should be something either Wildling or Sunling-related. Isn’t this going to be more progress through the excruciating love geometry problem that is Isla, Grim, and Oro? _Lightlark_ was Isla’s book, _Nightsbane_ was Grim’s book, so logically this should be, I don’t know, _Sunsyolk_ or something similar. _Skyshade_ means Azul, and he hasn’t really done anything. Am I mistaken?
No you're on to something. We might see a book per kingdom, vaguely, even though it's very key the other characters outside the love triangle DO NOT matter.
But maybe this is azuls book secretly. Maybe this one is all about him finding love again and flying happily through the skies. The isla grim oro stuff is a red herring.
@@Crowcaller I would say that I hope so but I fear for Azul if Aster takes an interest in him.
*Sunsyolk* 💀💀💀
It would be great if groro were the shipping :O ok no that would be sunshade
@@mst3kharris Yep, if he isnt given too much interest he is probbly safe from being jacobed from twilight?
Ah the series got Cassandra Clare'd. IIRC her original series was supposed to be a trilogy then it exploded out to like seven books or something after the third one.
I think aster probably always had grander ambitions, lightlark was never defined as a duality or trilogy... but also CC sold well and had a real fanbase to justify that extension. Aster has. Uh. Well, she brags annoyingly on tiktok sometimes
I reread Mortal Instruments a while ago and I was floored by the difference between books three and four. People suddenly had _personalities!_
she better be at the club in this one
She's at sexxxy goth island now, so if anything SEDUCTIVE HAUNTS watch is at an all time high
You're not alone in the dark corner of the library! I am here too, having also sighed the same blood pact with lightlark!
i can't wait for all lightlark 3 reviews lol. i do like the globe cover
I've decided I'm just in this like a documentarian on a doomed expedition. I'll report back from the front lines and go down with the ship
I am a simple creature. I see crow caller and Lightlark in a video title, i click on that video
I'm just commenting to say I hope you're doing alright despite being bound to cover the third Lightlark book by the infernal pact you have with Alex Aster. 🙏
Thank you!- been a rough time of things and I feel the pressure of work, BUT, I've been chugging steadily forward. Slower than I would like, but still, moving forward. I'll feel a lot better when my next proper vid is done (fun fact, the text is currently FORTY THOUSAND words long. My lightlark review was 27k.)
@Crowcaller Oh dear god, I don't know if I should be excited for the 7 hour video or scared for your sanity
I listened to your second book overview just now as background noise so I could listen to this one.
I made this prediction there, and will again.
The original world is gonna be our real world, and when they get here there’s gonna be a, “We can rule them as gods!” Type conflict.
Calling it now, may 20th 2024, so take note for when the third book comes out, and the blurb for the 4th.
Skyshade is a valid homestuck troll title.
You’re a soldier for dealing with this series.
Sonic the hedgehog, tragic lesbian, and guy who dies: the three genders
Favorite thing about this series is how Aster herself claims that she has no help at all so it can’t be nepotism but how I saw this book being announced was on a times square billboard on her tiktok maybe I’m not a big reader but I’ve never seen a book be announced this way
That's just a publicity move by the publisher for sure, but aster is like. Famously very rich, and lightlark 100% only was published because of her tiktok success. That's it! If it hadn't been viral and she didn't have followers to suggest sales, a book like this wouldn't be published or promoted as it has. It's not nepotism really, because I don't think she has direct family industry connections, but rather pure privilege, wealth, and viral luck (boosted by said privilege and wealth)
Oh the "past Isla" thing might mean that the book is gonna start like "a year later" with her preparing for the war, and the past Isla (the one we ended up with at the end of book 2) doing whatever Isla does. So it's like a mistery. What happened during that year? Very tantalizing mistery, I'm sure
That would be plausible and God, please, don't do that to me. That sounds even more frustrating than the BEFORE sections in nightbane
I mentally have started to refer to book 4 in my head as "MorbOrb". Also: Isla is dressed as Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way. You can't convince me otherwise.
I like the theory we'll be aiming for 6 books with first half titles themed to the nations, so we'd get MOON/STAR/WILD prefixes next. So. I'm proposing book fpur: Moonorb
@@Crowcaller I'm curious how they could even make it that far given the lack of an actual plot so far. Everything has been so repetitive or just goes nowhere. Isla can only have sex with Grim so many times!
Don't disrespect Enoby like that lol
Since the Skyshade blurb hasn't really given us any new info and the only thing we know about this book is that its not the last one, I'm just gonna be putting down what my bingo card is for this book and my reasonings why. If I manage to get a bingo then I think Alex Aster personally owes me money for being able to guess the plot of her book despite only reading the first one.
- More token characters (tokenism is kinda a staple of these books at this point, like we have Azul being not only the only black character but also the only gay one in the first book and he's the least relevant of all the leaders and we just have a lesbian in the second book who doesn't really do anything. If I were being generous I hope there'd be a different kind of tokenism like a token disabled character but I'm not holding out hope.)
- Isla and Grimm are soulmates (Crow already theorized this in their Nightbane video and I honestly wouldn't be surprised considering this entire trilogy seems like it was written through overdone Ao3 tags.)
- History revelations that don't matter (it never mattered that the Wildlings made Lightlark in the first book, it really doesn't matter that this world isn't the first in the second book aside from other characters just wanting to go to the other world, and I bet there'll be some new twist on the history of this world that has no meaning whatsoever)
- Stick to the status quo (I've noticed in a lot of YA books including Lightlark that when the protags are presented with an unjust system or terrible status quo that doesn't impact them, they'll just ignore it and not do something to try and change the system even when they have the power to do so. Like the whole rulers putting all their kingdoms under a curse so that if they die then their whole kingdom dies too is kinda fucked and there's that whole slave trade of the Starlings but no in the main cast really cares about it. So I'm gonna guess that more terrible shit about the kingdoms systems are gonna come out and the protagonists will not care because they are already at the top of those systems and it doesn't impact them.)
- Book gaslights you into thinking the main characters develop (pretty self explanatory, the book stating character arcs where none have occurred)
- Weird new lore that doesn't work (again pretty self explanatory)
- The other world is just Earth
- Polyamory (still counts if Isla suggests "hey why can I just have both" when it comes to Grimm and Oro even if they don't agree to it)
- Celeste's feather checkov's misfire/deus ex machina (these count for two but yeah I'm predicting Celeste's orb feather Isla got in Nightbane is either gonna completely get her out of a bad situation consequence free with no explanation or its going to be forgotten about by the plot or otherwise not work)
- Grimm is the worst (he's been the worst for 2 books already so)
- Magical drug addiction (this could pair up pretty well with Grimm being the worst if he does something like make Isla addicted to Nightbane in order to make sure she stays)
- Hamfisted metaphor/symbolism (bonus points if it desperately tries to justify this book's title)
- Character does something incredibly stupid that makes no sense (free space!)
- The starstick breaks (if the author even remembers the starstick by this point I can see her stirring up some easy drama by having the starstick break at a really dramatic point. I can see either Grimm breaking it to make sure Isla is still under his control or her trying to teleport out of a really shitty situation or teleport super far and it breaks from the strain.)
- Wedding (easy way to generate all the drama and empty pretty descriptions you need. Isla and Grimm are already technically married at this point but IDK if they had a proper wedding ceremony so you could easily have them do that at Nightshade. It can get even spicier if you have Oro attack right at the wedding or burst in trying to get Isla back or something.)
- Pain = power (all of these books so far have had this weird and bad message that going through incredible pain and abuse and surviving it just makes you stronger, which is not how pain or abuse or trauma work in the slightest. I think they'll continue on with this theme until the end of time.)
- Trying to fix plot holes (more of that scene in Nightbane where Isla and Azul look into the camera and say "but guys no look the Skyling curse is totally just as bad as the others, look at how many people died that one time as opposed to 500 years of continued death for the other kingdoms.")
- Azul is still unimportant (this is more of a hope than a prediction as Azul is my favorite character by virtue of the fact that he isn't important nor will he ever be so the author doesn't have a chance to ruin him. Fly free my sad little gay king!)
- Oro dies (something's gotta give in this love triangle and what's more of a sign of lazy writing than killing off a main character for the drama. Bonus points if its temporary)
- Isla is forced to forgive her abusers (so remember her mentors in the first book that raised her like a sacrificial lamb for Aurora's plan and put her through horrible torture and abuse under the guise of training? The ones that Grimm specifically got from the Wildling kingdom and is insisting that they care about her and that she needs them? Yeah I can see where this is going and I hate it forever!)
- Repetitive prose
- Isla self sacrifice (so remember that life bond stuff that Isla and Grimm have where if one dies the other dies too, well I can very easily see a scenario where either Grimm dies and Isla tries to sacrifice her life force to bring him back or she tries to kill herself in an attempt to kill Grimm too. The second one probably wouldn't work but still.)
- Isla forced to wear sexy Nightshade outfits (can be easily paired with Grimm being the worst or wedding.)
- Cleo dies for being the only girl other than Isla (no other girl in this series aside from Isla is allowed to be important and even though the in universe reason for her dying is probably gonna be due to her being evil we all know the real reason why she's dying.)
1) Lightlark
2) Nightnark
3) Sightsark
4) ???
5) Profit
#4 is Blightbark
These books are so bad yet they keep getting published, I’m genuinely baffled 😳
It's.... uh.... I dunno. Nepotism? Leniency because of tiktok followers? I still struggle to imagine this series lasting much longer, no matter Asters ambitions. I've never seen like... genuine fanart. Headcanons. People enjoying it. The most I've heard is just the basic generic romantasy folks with low standards vaguely enjoying it
"Orbs are the nicest kind of spheres you can have" is an incredible sentence.
“Skyshade” reminds me of when Mr Burns tried to block out the sun over springfield to try to force everyone to keep their lights on all day and then Maggie shot him
Oh god oh fuck not another one
It's too soon! The energies, may not be sufficiently marshaled the ritual circles yet incomplete!
It's been YEARLY which is actually insane. That's so fast for publishing. That's so fast for WRITING.
@@Crowcaller extraordinarily generous to describe what alex aster does as “writing”
So basically this book is gona be the "woe is me, I can't choose between two hot dudes of ambiguous age" fanfic, but streched to the hole book
... I'm so distracted by how the clouds(?) in the Orb look like Africa to me...
i thought of something so crazy it just might happen: what if Alex Aster pulls a "the original world is Earth"? like, our Earth. mentions Taylor Swift or something. i think i'd cry
It's plausible in that anything is possible. We've had absolutely no hints or lore tbh. My personal thoughts are basically that it'll be the Feywild, and we'll learn the nations used to be fey until they fled from a great evil into a pocket world. And we'll get more ACOTAR knockoff stuff. Like Mates. I will be. So annoyed by this honestly
@@Crowcaller that makes much more sense with how derivitive it's been so far
My friends and I were joking that this whole series is trolling, and the third book would be the characters going into the “real world” and realizing that everyone hated them. Like the most drawn-out parody series.
…That would be preferable to whatever we’re actually getting, I think.
“…the acclaimed au-….wait who’s acclaiming her?! 🧐”
I'm wondering
I feel like by default you’re the number one lightlark fan. Just on principle that you’re already planning on reading the new book. >w
I do think I'm legit the number one lore scholar actually. I am a bit rusty from desperately emptying my mind post nightbane but honestly I spent HOURS upon HOURS discussing lightlark lore and how the nagic/curse system worked or most often Would Need To Work in order to make sense. I did a lot of deep citations and checking with both books open to multiple areas to double check.
The reason I had to get so obsessive over solving the lore is because it's highly contradictive and doesn't really make sense unless you handwave or simply assume a lot of never stated stuff
From those who have much to give, much may be demanded 😥
Look when lightlark 6: MOONFALL comes out you know I'll be there earning even more dubious looks from deeply concerned fellow shoppers

"isla's heart will be torn between two dudes"
Isla sweetie have you considered you might be poly? Have you considered both the dudes with a good proper line of communication between all parties?
I feel like a lot of these love V's would be solved if the main character realized they are poly and that the extremely monogamous love interests just dont vibe with them. Idk kinda tired of love Vs they just feel very 2010 QuoteV fanfiction to me
Right? I was rewatching a twilight review recently and yhe reviewer was like "she could date both but whatever"
It's inspired me to write a series where the triangle just becomes a polycule lil

Lightlark is still my little hate-read hyperfixation to the point that complete strangers on my school's campus will go "hey aren't you that girl who's always sitting in the lobby of [dorm whose name im not giving to the internet] laughing really loud and reading to her friend" and I'm like yeah. We're like 65% of the way through reading it together. We laughed so hard at the thorns scene because ya know what it had the potential to be this very genuinely sweet and romantic scene about Oro helping Isla while still respecting her boundaries, and it kinda is actually but it's so overshadowed by him PUTTING HIS HAND IN HER MOUTH TO BITE DOWN ON. My friend and I have concluded that he just has a biting kink. Which good for him but good lord.
i first found your channel with the lightlark video and ive now watched you discuss some of the most batshit books ever published. it's genuinely been inspiring as im working on my own novel lmao

Can't wait for november when we get The Next Lark: Orbing Time reviewed to us! Or maybe not, who knows, only time will tell if it's funny enough to do it. Either way, hope all goes well!
I honest to god zoned out completely during that blurb reading. Brain went to complete static and I did not come back into awareness until Crow started talking normally again. I have gained a new level or terror for these books. Can’t wait for the full breakdown!!! Lol
So... If we have five realms (sun, night, sky, star, wild) and the first three titles use light (sun), night, and sky, that implies five books total with like stardance and wildfire as the last two titles
And also, if we expand that, she needs to get a new love interest from those realms, and then in the last one she'll learn to love herself and that then means she can finally be together with Grimm without doubts or something
maybe she'll finally go to the club this time
Look at the area just below the head of the snake. Belly scutes up top, then you see scales in the curve then belly scutes again. Im not sure its AI, but this area doesnt make sense in a way that means artist has no clue about how snakes look/doesnt give a shit or AI. It also starts weirdly offset, you would expect top gradually see more of the scutes as the snake turns (as they did in the area below the head where the snake is still curved around the orb), not randomly start.
(This is the second comment I leave on this channel about snakes, have I become the resident snake expert? lol)
Also ngl the snake being metallic-blue reminds me strongly of Blue Fang (Games), especially the short intro/logo sequence of Zoo Tycoon 2, so at least the cover gave me some nice nostalgia.
0:33 You and Krimson Rogue have accidentally stumbled into a demon’s pact 😂
Personally I think the whole 'Past Isla/Isla of the present" situation is gonna be less of us going through the actual past with her in the narrative and more of an "Inner Goddess" situation like in 50 Shades of Grey. I hope I'm right because it would be so much funnier
I have no interest in these books but i love hearing you review them!!
Happy to hear from you Crow!! I already commend for you for the willingness to put yourself through that book.
Do you think the book is gonna villainize Oro in an attempt to portray Grim as the correct choice in the love triangle, and that is why Isla's decision to protect him is considered part of her villain arc?
thats the most appropriate shirt for this video
but also oh dear god how is the third one coming already, how is there a third one, *why* is there going to be a third one
when you mentioned its Orb Time I immediately went "get your Ponderin' robes folks". Love to ponder me a good orb
not every love triangle can be gale/katniss/peeta (actually plot relevant and brimming with symbolism that matters)
Nightnight, sequel to Moonmoon. But you were so right this whole series does reek of Wattpad project turned nanowrimo novel oh my god
"who's acclaiming her?" asking the real questions is why I'm here
I’m so hyped for the Unwind video. I didn’t know you were making it till right now, but I’m hecking excited to relive that shit show that haunted me as a uber religious teen lol
Is Skyshade maybe the name of the storm that is coming? Dark clouds blocking out the sky?
Wasn't there a storm that isolated the island for a long time - is that storm coming back?
I have never read these books nor do I plan to but I find the entire discourse fascinating. How Lightlark was so popular on Tik Tok before it even released; people threw 5 stars at it, then there's a second one that no one really cared about. The only people who seem to talk about it were the ones on RUclips tearing it apart for entertainment and now the third one I didn't even realize was coming; your video is literally the first time I've heard it even existed. Either way I'm excited for your review of it. ❤
lowkey looking forward to the third book. not gonna read it obviously, but the videos dissecting them are always fun
I'm excited for this because Lightlark is how i found you!
Aw man, this is gonna be 90% past life 'flashbacks' ain't it?
The controversy of Aster possibly being an industry plant was really the only thing hyping up this series. The moment the controversy blew over, people almost immediately stopped caring about it and it just became another generic Booktok series.
bro my sister in law loves lightlark shes in her 30's
I'm afraid you need to buy your sister in law some taste next xmas :/
@@Crowcaller I wish I could. She likes all the terrible books man. Colleen Hoover, Fourth Wing, Lightlark. Shes a lost cause😭
100%, this is going to be the book where Azur finally features as an actual character instead of just an accessory to Isla and it's going to be utterly awful and we're going to get to know WAY too much about how Aster views gay people and gay men in specific
EDIT: Also, since the titled heavily implies that Skyling is going to be the focus, or at least the theme of the book, then we can probably assume that there's going to be a book for each of the realms. We're gotten Lightlark and Nightshade (kind of), so that leaves Skyling, Moonling, Starling, Wildling (because we literally barely even know anything about the place that our MAIN CHARACTER comes from!), and Sunling, I think.
EDIT 2.0: Oh god! She's going to make Azur fall in love with Isla, isn't she?! D:
My prediction: past Isla will be brought to the present day thanks to time travel shenanigans because Alex Aster clearly can’t decide which hot guy to pair Isla with. With two Islas, though, Past Isla can be with Hot Guy #1 and the Present Isla can be with Hot Guy #2. Same with “save the world or destroy it”- Aster will think she’s so clever by having Isla choose a third option, which will conveniently appear in this book and this book only.
I got a little excited that the title included sky because I thought "oh maybe we'll get more of our favorite sad gay sky man" but i dont think aster cares that much about minorities to make Azul very important
Very excited for you to ponder this Orb and share your findings with us
Can’t wait to see which old dude Isla chooses… /s
PS definitely want to hear your review!!
oh wow i am so looking forward to this book. do you think events will take place that affect the status quo of the world and/or the emotional state of the characters? 🤔 bc im not rly sure
(btw crow can i suggest turning up the audio when editing? your videos are often extremely quiet even when my audios on 100/compared to other output)
Why do I know the first line of this book is gonna be "I was a bad girl, I did a bad thing"
I just love watching your trauma-bond with the Lightlark Saga. Also, I had totally forgotten about orbs in the second book despite watching your review xD Thank you for uploading, I really appreciate hearing your thoughts, seeing your hair and hearing your voice! Made my evening :D
My local library bought both Lightlark and Nightbane, so you might be able to request yours gets the uh. New one. I also immediately forgot its name. Worth a shot, anyway.
I want to guess there will be 7 books in the series, as there will be in ACOTAR when it ends. OR it will have 100 books, one for each year leading up to the final time the island appears. Max suffering.
Thank you for doing the work no one else will 🙏🏻 Also like i think your plot assumption is on the money and it’s giving really unfortunate flashbacks to arrow on the cw
"Skyshade"? Oh god. I think I see the pattern here. Aster is aiming for six of these with each one having a name vaguely relating to one of the realms
You defeat books. We need you to defeat the Lightlark saga. For the good of the people!
Why are there going to be more than three books? Like the second one already didn’t sell as well, what is the publisher expecting? As long as she doesn’t better her craft things will only go more downhill
I really hope in Skyshade Isla says “it’s orbing time” and then Orbs all over the place /j
i love your shirt lmao
Thank you I got it for my birthday and really really enjoy it
Not this idea of a book coming out the day before my 21st birthday 😅 oh well I'm definitely looking forward to your video covering it lmao
i will be reading this and i likely won't enjoy it but the lightlark hyperfixation will absolutely reawaken once skyshade drops
Someone introduced Alex Aster to that Tomska video about The Orb, and she took it personally
I'll be here for the autopsy in winter
