My friend found this pattern and wanted to make it since she didn't know how to read patterns. I helped her make the hat and wanted to post the written pattern and notes here in case it helps anyone else learn to read patterns. Thanks for sharing this video!
    • 5.0mm hook
    • Medium weight yarn - 4
    • For 6-12 months: recommended measurements are 5 inches in diameter and 6.5 inches in length
    • Acronyms: ch = chain, dc = double crochet, ss = slip stitch, sc = single crochet, sc2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together, hdc = half double crochet
    • Notes: chain 2 does not count as a stitch, final stitch count per round is in parenthesis, for closing rounds slip stitch last stitch to first stitch NOT chain 2
    • Hat Body
o Row 1: magic ring, ch 2, dc 11 times in magic ring, ss closed (11 stitches)
o Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around, ss closed (22 stitches)
o Row 3: ch 2, 2 dc in first stitch, 1 dc in next stitch, repeat alternating pattern all around, ss closed (33 stitches)
o Row 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first stich, 1 dc in next two stitches, repeat alternating pattern all round, ss closed (44 stitches)
o Row 5: ch 2, 2 dc in first stich, 1 dc in next ten stitches, repeat alternating pattern all around, ss closed (48 stitches)
o Row 6: ch 2, 2 dc in first stich, 1 dc in next eleven stitches, repeat alternating pattern all around, ss closed (52 stitches)
o Row 7: ch 2, 2 dc in first stich, 1 dc in next twelve stitches, repeat alternating pattern all around, ss closed (56 stitches)
o Rows 8-13: ch 2, dc in each stitch around, ss closed (56 stitches)
o Row 14: ch 1, sc in each stitch around, ss closed (56 stitches)
    o Fasten off
    • Ears
o Row 1: magic ring, ch 1, sc five times in magic ring, ss closed (5 stitches)
o Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around, ss closed (10 stitches)
o Row 3: ch 1, 1 sc in first stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat alternating pattern all around, ss closed (15 stitches)
o Row 4-5: ch 1, 1 sc in each stitch, ss closed (15 stitches)
o Can repeat row 5 another time to make ears bigger
o Row 6: ch 1, sc2tog then sc in next stitch, repeat alternating pattern all around, ss closed (10 stitches)
o Fasten off leaving long tail to sew on hat
o Weave in magic ring tail end on inside of ear
o Repeat for one additional ear
    • Bow
o Ch2, hdc in second chain from hook
o Ch 1, insert hook in center and ss
    o Ch1, 5 hdc in same stitch
o Ch 1, ss in same stitch
o Fasten off leaving a long tail
o Use long tail to wrap around middle of bow. Make a knot in the back of the bow with yarn tails
    • Attach ears - Line ears on hat starting on row 3 and attach by going through the 2 stitches of the ear and the hat itself
    • Attach bow

I want to start by saying THANK YOU. I just started crocheting in December last month and you have been the ONLY person out of everyone else that goes through each step very carefully and thoroughly. You do such an amazing job explaining how to do each stitch, each round and final steps after each round and it has been SO helpful. This is the FIRST time I was able to make something special for my daughter because your tutorial is very easy to follow. I’m pretty sure I just mastered crochet terminology and types of stitches from watching your video! So THANK YOU again 🙏🏽

I followed the video perfectly and the shaping and everything turned out like the video. The only problem is how big the beanie turned out. It didn't look like the size for an infant. It fit my head as an adult LOL. What can I do to fix this next time or is there something i did wrong? Does the weight of the yarn matter as to how big it turns out?

I’m no entirely sure how she made the hat since I have not watched the full video yet but if she started from a chain then add more stitches!
If she started from a magic circle you can probably just do more increase stitches

I would think you can make it bigger by using a heavier yarn and bigger hook.
