- My December 1 Patreon lesson focuses on this ridiculously hot solo by Rev. Gary Davis based on his performance at the 1965 Newport festival. It's a blast. Come join us. / andrewlardnerguitar
Oh, man! This rendition is quite fantastic. One of the best interpretations out there.😊😊😊
..You do that special guitar justice....NICE!
Easily the best guitar channel on RUclips. Inspirational, incredible, and high definition!! I've learned so much from you man but this one seems like a tall order.... keep them coming!
Thanks Austin. If you have access to my Patreon check out the slow play through video I made. It will really help. Hardest part on this is memorizing the variations and matching Davis’ tempo. I’m only about 194bpm compared to his 220 plus in the Newport performance.
Your channels is the best. And should get millions of viewers. Great job man. I have learned many tricks from you. Greetings from Alhoceima in the north of Morocco.
Rev Davis lives on through you Andrew, thanks!
Wow, this is great! I could put it on loop and still enjoing it after 2 hours. A terrific performance. Music, technique, everything. Thank you for this
Thank you buddy. We need to catch up!
that was exceptional!
Brilliant! Rev Gary Davis would be proud of your performance.
Thank you Mal!
Fantastic. The impossible song played to perfection
This is really the most difficult thing I’ve done in the last several years
Wow, as usual. Saw him open for John Fahey '69. Don't know if he played this. Being a callow youth I could not understand why he played standing up! So much to learn...Thank you, again, for making the music come alive.
That sounds like an incredible time in '69. I'm very jealous of you.
Very good rendition, Andrew. If I might say one thing, it would be that you tell more of the story that the piece has to say when you play different passages at slightly different speeds and with slightly differently accents. Putting in half a beat here and there as you hear them would help with this. Best regards.
Great playing Andy! Brock and I are listening to it on repeat
Thanks Melissa. Hope you guys can come visit soon
Awesome work, love the sound of that guitar
The strings are about a year old at this point, they were a custom set of heavy John Pearse, maybe a folk set or something. Doubling taken off the top strings to keep melody sounding clean. You might want to try them on yours I’ll find out exactly what they were
wow, some authentic thumb+index finger right hand work. good job
Thank you, love this tune.
We love your videos and music!
Thanks Yiannis!
You great Andrew. Beautiful guitar too.
Thank you Stefano
Superb!
Thank you Francesco
Brilliant. Sounds great on the 12 string. He had many variations but you’ve really captured the essence if the piece. Not criticism but a personal preference: I like it played a bit more full on with fire and vigour. Con Brio! Bravo 👏 👏 🙏🕊️👍
Just love the sound of that 12 string, played with such consummate skill and flair. I would struggle to play this using thumb and two or more fingers. Andrew makes it look so easy using thumb and just index finger.
Thanks buddy. Early B45 are undervalued IMO
@@andrewlardner most of all they are really impossible to find....
@@marcog7084 I was just putting the same guitar on Reverb.
I swear. I'm not sure what to charge.
It looks like exactly the same guitar.
Brad in Maine 323-7755. Look up area code.
@@thegratefulbrad3072 why do you want to sell it? This is a keeper 😧
Sorry I am not english, I didn’t understand the last part of your message. Is the guitar already on Reverb?
@@thegratefulbrad3072 I think this one only cost me $950. They seem to sell anywhere from there on up to about 1300 depending on the condition but I haven’t looked at prices in a few years.
Interesting finger picking style. Lovely 12 string too!
Thank you robert
Andy you make that 12 string sing!
Thanks Tony brother
Maybe one day, Andrew will sell his transcriptions for $500 million!
Play that funky music Andrew!
Could you imagine walking into a bar and seeing a blind African American man playing this? I can't. All I see are white boys strumming chords and singing Dylan lyrics. Sad times we live in. Thanks for sharing this Andrew. Perhaps there is hope for us after all.
Hmm but Dylan did just sell his catalog for an estimated 300 million, so there’s that
Fantastic!
Thanks Daniel hope you’re doing good brother.
@@andrewlardner I’m doing well thanks man! Hope you are too!
