Nice review. I just picked up my PDP F yesterday and its amazing. I’ve never been so accurate so quickly with any pistol that upon firing for the first time. Walther did a great job in building an all around excellent firearm. They should market the “F” for “Fantastic”.
On their website it says all hands and eveyone. My opinion is Walther messed up on the size because of the WMR, and the PDP F was their way of not admitting the mistake by someone there at Walther got fired! They did recover from their mistakes over there because no way in hell was the PDP supposed to be as big as it is, they stopped pumping out the PDP and started pushing out the PDP F and it's an instant hit! The numbers of the PDP F sales and what everyone is saying is pretty telling truth.....not to mention look at the women who are shooting the PDP F hahahahaha The pistol is the size of a full size duty gun Glock 19!!! The pistol is massive in these womens hands. Walther fudged up! I went to get a new 9mm I just had 1 because I sold all my old stuff to get nice new models, so I got the Sig X-Macro as a mid size and went to the gun store for a full size and left with the PDP F!!! I'm waiting for the Canik Mete for my smaller 9mm.
I know its marketed for females but its really for small hands the females i know shoot regular pdp compact no problem very experienced. It really depends on the person
Walther makes good pistols. However, it rarely does a good job marketing its products. Instead of just targeting the female shooter segment of the market, the F-Series may be its offering to compete with the SIG P365XL and the Springfield HellCat Pro.
yeah plenty of men who won't buy it just based off branding. I'm not one of them but I get it. Their marketing team missed wet their line in the small pond instead of the lake across the street.
I wish I could find one locally. I want to put it in my hand before I buy one. I already have the PDP 4 inch and its great. But this one also interests me for sure.
I have a Walther P38 from 1944 which still shoots fine. Walther makes a great firearm, though I have several from other manufacturers that are just as good. Be safe!
I am expecting a whole series of releases from the competition with slimmed down and adjusted grips, marketed at the serious female shooter, no pink in sight.
One of the things about a smaller grip, I think it might be great when shooting one-handed. If the grip is too large, the hand needs to rotate in the direction of the trigger finger. That means less heel behind the grip. Okay for a two-handed grip. Not so much for a one-handed grip.
Just got a PDP-F yesterday. As a guy with smaller hands, I was initially reluctant to buy because i knew it was kind of marketed to women. But the more i held it, and compared it to other guns, it just felt right. So i put my macho pride away, and got it. If it feels right, then it's the right gun for you. Does anyone know why the regular PDP has all the manufacturing markings on the outside, but the F doesn't?
I'm not someone blessed with large hands...in fact I've got quite small hands and it is what it is. I bought the Shield EZ not even knowing who it was marketed to, yet loved the pistol. The only downside is the capacity, so this pistol seems like the logical upgrade for me!
Same here, love my EZ but wish it had a larger capacity. Going to have to rent this PDP F and try it out. My hands aren't just small I have very bad hand strength so racking slides have been the worst for me. The EZ solved that problem
@@SandraS1397 I'm right there with ya. Handled my first F-Series Wednesday and bought it Wednesday. Every control was reachable with no grip change, (unlike my VP-9 and SW M&P-2)
I just picked up the 3.5” F-Series PDP. So far it’s been good, but not great. The gun functions great, but the ambi mag release fencing is a hot spot for my grip. It has been really uncomfortable for me & is what’s keeping it from being great imo.
I have adjusted how I grip due to the PDP, It's not really a big deal because I was already studying some stuff that had me adjusting my stance and grip but I remember that I picked it up from the FFL and went into their range and left with a bruise at the base of my thumb...they made the back end so wide that it actualy inhibits the ability to choke up on the pistol as one might had they learned to shoot on say Glock. With the changes I've made everything seems to be fine.
It’s about time! Would be great if they would sell the grip separately, to swap out. They’re hard to find, and who wants to buy one before even gripping it.
The walther pdp and pdp f is on of the absolute best polymer, striker fired 9mm handguns on the planet. And bang for the buck is super good..👍I own both and also have compared them to my glock 19x, sig p320xc, sig 365xl, smith mp 2.0, hi vp9sk, and hk p30l. The HK vp is the only one that can compete with the walther pdp, just my two cents..

Anyone with larger hands try the large backstrap on one of these? I like the grip shape on the one I looked at in the shop. More so than the regular PDP but the trigger reach isn't optimum.
I have not. You are right about the trigger reach. But you do get used to it. I have played with the PDP F they have for rental at the local range a couple of times (with standard backstrap). At first, it wasn't great. The more I shot it, the more I enjoyed it. It took about 300 rounds to get into a groove with it.
