  • This lift is all about speed. It brings 2,400 people up to the top each hour. That's a thousand more than the old Crest lift.

    I saw a faster lift than this one. The only thing it was going backwards and throwing people off of it.

    KSL News is fantastic. My wife and I lived in Elko (most SLC folks likely will know where that is) for about 25 years before moving to Florida a few years back . We miss Nevada and Utah quite a bit! Seeing this clip and with familiar newscasters is like catching up with old family members. Thanks! 🌠🌟🌠

But for the first time ever the Leitner-Poma Group installed more than Doppelmayr and Garaventa combined last year. In 2006, Leitner built the first combined installation with eight-passenger chairs and 10-passenger gondola cabins and there are now seven of these across Europe. One downside of these fast chairs is that they DO dump a lot of people onto the mountain in a short period of time. If you're riding a groomer, you're going to have some company.

    Utah finally puts in a six pack chair. 25 years after the first one went in. Maybe they can park as many cars as they sell passes next year.

  • @firebugdesignful
    @firebugdesignful 6 месяцев назад

    It is fast, but try waiting in a long line for it. You have to wait sideways on a hill. People were sliding into each other and falling. It slowed everything down. The resort was only allowing 3 people on each chair last weekend. They were also leaving every 4 chairs empty. What was going on?! I think the 4 seater loaded faster and had better line management. We did everything we could to avoid this chair lift. So disappointing.

  • @jayjackson5705
    @jayjackson5705 5 месяцев назад

    They never say how fast it is, but simple math can get you there. It's 5777ft/318seconds = 5.5 m/s or 12.4 mph which is in line with Doppelmayr's website for the D-line. Typical high speed quads are about 5 m/s or 11.2 mph according to the google.

      @MegaDtard 5 месяцев назад

      Crest 6 runs at 6 m/s right now. it is capable of 8 m/2 but they slow it down to help with loading.

    • @jayjackson2916
      @jayjackson2916 5 месяцев назад

      @@MegaDtard hmmm.. at 6.0 m/s that's 19.685 fps take 5777ft /19.685 fps and you get 293 sec or 4.9 minutes which is faster than they are advertising. I also saw on the Dopplemayr D-line brochure stating 5.5 m/s. Not trying to doubt you at all just haven't seen anything that supports 6 m/s. Also, unsure of what you mean regarding 8 m/2?

I think it's largest population was during WWII when it served as an Army Air Base for training pilots including those who dropped the Atomic bombs on Japan to end the war.
