I'm out in the forest right now dispersed camping, gearing up to head out west end of this month. I'm hoping the Northern Lite camper will do me good on my travels! Safe Travels!
Going on 8 years fulltime on the road excusivly boondocking only in every weather condition in a NL 9-6-Q, I have had the bed and dinette thermal plastic windows blown off from gusty winds. The big dinette window henge got bent somewhat from a whirl wind to where it would not lockdown properly and as I was caught in heavy winds passing through Cameron. Az. the big window got blown off. I replaced it with a sliding window because gusty winds will destroy push out windows. never trust a desert breeze because it can turn into a whirl wind quickly, catching you off guard, this has happened many times in my boondocking experiences. also the wind will flip up the overhead bed vent/escape hatch. to stop this, rap a short Bungie around the lift bar and hook it out side to the sealing lip edge. NL's are great but the windows suck and need to be reengineered for real time windy conditions. There are a few more small quirks to consider too, If we cross paths somewhere out there I'll tell you my fix's. Have a Marry Christmass and a prosperous Trump New Year mah-man.
Totally agree about the windows. Plus, they scratch much easier than glass and are hella expensive to replace. I opted for glass sliders and happy I did so.
Good info! In your youtube videos, your northern lite still looks brand new. You've got a nice looking rig. Safe Travels, Merry Christmas and may you have a prosperous Trump New Years also!
Norther Lite is great quality! Canadians make a well built product. These are very similar to Bigfoot campers as Northern Lite was started by ex-bigfoot employees in 1989. Both campers were built in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The two factories were only 40 miles apart. Bigfoot expanded into trailers and motorhomes and really grew the business only to have the banks pull their financing during the 2008 recession, they had over 200 employees. It has since been revived by Bigfoot’s former Operations Manager, who bought all the molds, hired a few of the best staff and started making campers and trailers again in 2010. Norther Lite was a lot smaller and weathered the financial downturn. There is a lot of employee pride in Northern Lite over the years, but the original owner Mac Donkin sold it to a private equity firm in 2017 and it changed hands again in 2022. Hopefully the quality is still as good as the old ones.
Oh Man , some people have all the Money. Loving your new truck and camper 👍. I’m still tent camping in my old 60 series Land Cruiser. Take care , Merry Christmas
We have been waiting for an update from you ! It was worth the wait 😊 . The Ford looks like it will be a great update also ! Now , waiting for some travel videos !
Nice rig. I like truck campers. You’ll definitely like the lithium. The max air fan is great, remote control is even better. Those windows are great, the one thing I wish I could upgrade on mine. The roof hatch is cool 👍🏼easy way to clean the solar panels.
@ how many amp hours? I don’t remember if you said. I have 200amp hour and they do everything we ask expect run the AC. I just installed a 200w ground panel hook up and have 400w on the roof.
@@Thesaltymedic36 The dealer said 250 amps. I haven't had time to mess with them yet. It's good to know I have plenty of solar. I ran my furnace all night the last couple of nights with no drain. My wall mounted controller still says 100%.
Hey Mark, That's a nice TC you have there. I did notice you need to wipe off your solar panels, must keep them clean for max power production. I was wondering, you have the Onan generator but you had something plugged into your shore power so I'm guessing you were running the Honda generators and not using the Onan. The Onan is pretty loud and vibrates noise throughout the camper. I just installed a 250 amp alternator on my truck which can produce up to 3300 watts and it was easy, 350.00 bucks. Get a dc to dc charger and it will take care of all your energy needs. Hopefully see you at the TC Rally. Take care...
Hey Jeff! I do need to get those solar panels cleaned up before heading out west for sure. I still mainly use my Honda Generators when I need to use one. I'm not going to use my onboard generator very often, going to try and keep the hours as low as possible. I'll crank it up every once in a while to exercise it. I'm heading to Arizona next week, make my way slowly to Quartzsite for the truck camper rally. Safe Travels!
I got it off Amazon, a little pricey, but I like it. I don't think any clock is very accurate, but it does give me an idea of the humidity and temps. www.amazon.com/dp/B0BY25R569?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
I traded my single wheel F350 for my current dually. I’m wanting to tow a trailer and with my Northern Lite, I was way over weight. I’m loving my dually.
Congrats they are the best slide in camper hands down. Had a 8-11 on a SB F350. Rode well and great camper. Only complaint was the tiny bathroom. Not sure why NL doesn't update that.
Damn dude, is there anything you DON'T have on that gorgeous camper ?? What a beauty and you get the great Canadian craftsmanship ! A really great combination with the new dually truck for sure. Really happy for you and it's great to see you enjoying your Air Force retirement to the max. Many happy trips ahead in your new setup. Be safe, will be looking forward to your next video. Just curious Mark, what would you say was your very favorite camping spot in Arizona ?? Kenny C Oregon
The NL is going to make my travels very comfortable for sure. LOL And I'm making the best of my AF retirement. It would be very hard to say what my favorite camping spot is in Arizona. If I had to say something, I would have to say the Dragoon Mountains. Beautiful scenery and lots of history in that area. I make it a habit to stop by there when I'm traveling through. I've been there twice, and planning on going there again. Another one would be Ironwood Forest National Monument. Beautiful scenery and lots and lots of saguaro cactus. I even found a crested saguaro cactus while there. Safe Travels Kenny
This rig has a pretty big table. I like having two displays myself, nice having to programs open at a time working in them. Having a large monitor helps also. LOL
Their reputation is it’s a great unit. Congratulations
After some research, I went with Northern Lite. It should hold up pretty good.
I hope you enjoy it !! I dig you taking us along on your adventures. I have found some good spots from you! Be safe

Very nice. The advances in solar with lifepo batteries and led lighting has made boondocking so much better.
Totally agree!
That's the best design I have seen on a truck camper
It’s a great layout. I’m loving it so far!

@@TheGingerGypsy Ha! I'm a little introverted. LOL I love my solitude. ;-)
Congratulations you will definitely love that camper and deserve something nice. Enjoy
Thanks! I'm excited to get it on the road!
Congratulations! Beautiful camper. Look forward to your adventures in the NorthernLite.
Thanks! The Northern Lite is amazing.
Hell yeah brother. I have a 1999 9-6 Classic. I would love to get a newer one or a Bigfoot truck camper in the future.
I figured if I buy it, this northern lite will last me a life time. I can tell they are solid campers.
Congrats! I have a 9.6 and I love it! Happy camping! 😊
Good to hear. Happy camping!
Awesome rig! Looking forward to seeing you field test it in cold weather!
Thanks! I'm currently in Ouachita Mountains. Woke up this morning 26 degrees. I was very toasty inside with no frozen lines. LOL
Congats! Thats a nice setup!!
Very nice unit. Hope you have good luck with the new ride. Waiting to see your new adventures in it.
I'm looking forward to hitting the road with it!

Good information. If not the NL I was also looking at the Big Foots. So far, I'm liking the Quality.
Wow. That's incredibly well equipped. They've thought of every detail.
They did!
Awesome upgrade, congratulations !
Thanks!

Love the new camper! Some of those features are very clever, really like those windows with the shade/screen options~
Yeah, I love that they thought of all the little things, like the shades and screens. It’s a great design.
Great looking camper and truck.

Best camper made out there. I had an aric fox and I wish I bought that one instead with no slide. Good choice
I definitely didn't want a slide. Something else that could break on me. LOL

@DispersedCamperMan Great! We leave after Christmas with the rest of the hoodlums. See you there.
12:19 can tell you from experience, the LaCrosse clocks are way off. how accurate is the temp and humidity and what brand is that one?

Hi Mark. Nice camper. I must of missed something. When did you get a dually? Last video you still had your new single wheel. I like this truck.
I traded my single wheel F350 for my current dually. I’m wanting to tow a trailer and with my Northern Lite, I was way over weight. I’m loving my dually.
Awesome! All-season means trips to Canada and Alaska, right?!! Happy Holidays, Mark. 👍😎🇨🇦🎅✨️🎄🧦✌️ BTW Kelowna is pronounced "Kel own a."
I would love a trip to Canada. Maybe one day. And I knew I wash butchering the pronunciation of Kelowna. Lol.
@DispersedCamperMan , I have a friend that lives in Kelowna.
It took me several tries to pronounce Kelowna correctly 😂
Beautiful new home it would be nice if there was access from camper to truck without needing to get out but it's really nice
That would be nice, having access to the back without having to get out. It would definitely be convenient.
Excellent new set up great for the new year…
I think so too!
nice camper
Congrats they are the best slide in camper hands down. Had a 8-11 on a SB F350. Rode well and great camper. Only complaint was the tiny bathroom. Not sure why NL doesn't update that.
Yeah, I know what you mean about the bathroom. Not a lot of room in there, but it's functional.
Cool. I have 2010 wet bath 10.2.
Nice! Northern lite has it going on
What is the payload on that?
Trucks max payload is 14,000 pounds.
Are you still carrying your motorbike?
Yes. In my enclosed trailer.
I wonder why the call them light when you need a tank to haul them around 😂😂😂😂
