Scott I love your online course. And your 1on 1’s. I won’t let myself go to course 2 till I do all the exercises in each lesson again, and play all the side songs you suggested we play also. Which by my count was 15 songs in book one. I’m hard on myself but your techniques make learning so much fun and easier, and why move to the next course till you’ve done all your home work. Thank you Scott love ya man! And getting ready for course 2! Sincerely, Bob Williams

Hi Scott. Thank you for your video but I wondering whether you could help me with a problem. I'm still terrible with piano because I was never taught theory so I have difficulty grasping these concepts. I recently managed to play the entire melody of a song I wrote on the piano and I was very chuffed, only when I played it along with the lyric audio it didn't sync up. It was the same tune but it didn't sound well together. I thought maybe it had something to do with these key things and I was wondering if you knew a way to change a melody into a different key while keeping it the same as well as to know what key someone is singing in without knowing how to properly play the song on piano. Right now I think I'm playing the song in A key but I might be wrong and it might sound better with the singing in a different key. Thank you for any help I know this is a long comment ha ha
I sing without music creating melodies with lyrics. I have complete songs. I want to have someone to listen and tell me what chords they are. I basically have everything and just need to add music. I don't even know how to articulate this to anyone anyone. Can you give me some ideas how to communicate what I'm trying to do to a piano player or a guitar player or anyone?
Richie, I don't think anyone will ever be able to "tell me what chords they are" because YOU are the one who has the tune in your head, right? I honestly think your best bet is to, yourself, sit down and learn a few simple chords (easiest is just make a C major chord on all white keys, then start moving that shape up from there to get to Dmin, Emin, F, G, and Amin). With those I just mentioned you would be able to (re)create THOUSANDS of chord progressions of tunes you already know. Better for you, it would give you a "menu" to choose from to pick to go along with your melodies you have in your head. This effort is one YOU need to take on I think... don't sweat it though, it'll be an absolute blast to be able to help your tunes actually get "realized" harmonically and take flight. Have fun!
It *usually* does yes. The reason I hesitate is every so often tunes in minor keys kind of "resolve" or morph into their relative major key either somewhere in the tune, or actually sometimes at the very end. But yes... usually it still works.

I love this, could it work in all scenerio
This works for only major or both major and minor?

So does this not work for minor keys, or is there a different trick?
It *usually* does yes. The reason I hesitate is every so often tunes in minor keys kind of "resolve" or morph into their relative major key either somewhere in the tune, or actually sometimes at the very end. But yes... usually it still works.
@pianoinaflash thank you for explaining that. ❤
Why does the Internet hate nothing more than telling me what the hell a vocal note is?
Maybe because I have no idea what you mean by "a vocal note" ? Explain further and I'll do my best to help :-)
Sounds like a note you hit using your voice lol
