Thank you for this tutorial! Just found your channel through searching for a “La Festin” cover from Ratatouille and was amazed when I found out you created it from ear! I’m hoping to do something similar as your cover is defiantly the most accurate on RUclips and I need all the help I can get!
crazy but you can use a chromatic tuner to "listen" to the notes, but if it's a busy song like most songs use the hum method then hum the tone to the tuner.
is it possible for a song to have multiple keys ? eg ... like the verse and chorus have different keys ? .... if so does that mean we have to take each block and work out the key to each, one at a time ?
2 ways: 1: look at the vibe of the chords and the song (either happy, or more dark and sad) 2: play the note where the songs resolves into, and see if the major or minor chord ends the song better. If that chord is in the song, it makes it even easier, because you can see what notes are being played in that chord (either major or minor) Also, the amount of sharps and flats used in the song can give hints as well.
@@k-mashup1144 I understand that. But what he did was touch a key, middle C, and conclude the scale is in C Major, without playing the scale. A single note can be a root note or tonic for many scales.
u probably know this by now but the feeling in the two are quite different. also most songs are in major so there's a 80% chance major would be right for almost any song. however in this case he probably knew the notes of the melody beforehand
In the video, it was said the key could be C or the relative minor of A minor but the home note was always C, and not A. Therefore, the key is C major.

Well explained...
I have a problem: most pieces I hear end the phrase in a V chord.
It's the problem in the video when it ended on the G note (dominant of C).
Another video for such tutorial please!

how do you find the difference between major and minor for the method where you find the note that feels at home?

Transpose
@@isaacbainson8319 no. Tell him to learn the scales bc transposing won’t help him in the long run
@@kyroking9934okay sure.
@kwabenahkobby1813
Learn the scales.
What to do when the song does not start on the home key
You found the root note and said it's in C Major. How did you know of the scale with just a note? Good explanation, though.
You need to learn your scales. The note found = you play the scales in that key
@@k-mashup1144 What if it was C Minor?
@@observer3955 I don't understand what you mean please clarify
@@observer3955 the notes in c minor scale is different than c major that's how you will differentiate ir

I still dont get how he knew it was C mayor and not minor before without playing the scale
