Hands down my favorite player of all time and I have been watching the NBA since the mid-70's. Could guard every position and play every position if needed at top performance. Elite of the elite defenders,. A truly explosive performer with extremely high court intelligence and a pterodactyl wingspan the likes of which will never be seen again. Simply magnificent.
If you take Pipps chips away his stats wouldn't even be enough to get him in the top 100.... If you understand the game and what he does on the court that doesn't make the stat book.. The things kids will never understand... Even though Pipps first few years was consider a bust and everyone thought Horace was the better player.. Even that first Chip Pipps stats wasn't the greatest. I think if Pipp would of develop faster and MJ had another all-star they would of beat those Pistons
@@wattwatkins3574great post. As someone who lived in Chicago in that era that’s spot on. Scotties slow development actually held them back. They were ready to win as early as 1989. They took Detroit to 6 games and Detroit swept LA. They were second best team in the nba but Scottie couldn’t handle the physicality and mental head games in those Detroit series. 9 ppg vs them in 1989. That’s a fact. Shit, he even f’d em in 1990 with his migraine. He eventually matured and became a great player, but it took time.
as an Arkansan I definitely love pip born and raised in Conway where he played ball at uca but the only person betrayed pip was Marcus Jordan by messing with his wife other than that pip is tripping lol
Scottie Pippen was also a very reliable NBA player during his time with the Portland Blazers in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Blazers didn't win a championship back then, but they were a very strong team. The 2000 Playoff Conference Finals in particular was a great game.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I might have heard this from someone else, but if Scottie Pippen wasn't pulled from the game in the 2000's playoffs of the Portland trailblazers, could they have one a championship and signify that Scottie Pippen could be as great as Michael Jordan?
Portalnd didnt win because they no leader. Scottie only knew how to take direction not give it. And not not even mention his sorryness in houston!! Pippen need to know his role and stfu
Pip on some goofy sh##t right now, but his greatness on the court is undeniable. You can make a legit case that Pip is the greatest on ball perimeter defender ever, and add that with his versatility. He was a straight beast.
The only thing wrong with Scottie nowadays is the lack of respect the man gets....the most underrated basketball player of all time. Scottie does not deserve the hate he gets. Give this man his flowers now...I will not allow anyone to slander scottie pippen.
Scottie Pippen is underrated in my opinion and one of the all time great Bulls. As a Chicago Bulls' fan, it is disappointing to see what has happened between him and MJ. But as a player, he was a great all around talent, especially on defense and playmaking.
I think Scottie is messed up...lost his son semi recent, and now the current stuff, was underpaid drastically...He's HUMAN....career wise, esp with the Bulls, yeah, amazing...who else in history ever locked up Magic Johnson for crying out loud...the guys versatility was unmatched....
I do not agree with him being underrated... You take Pipps chips away his stats won't even make it to the top 100... Pipp was never a great offensive player... He was never going to give you 30 a game. Gilbert has some bad takes
As a former college athlete, I grew up watching basketball from the 80's, 90's, and 200's. I studied Pippen's game so closely. Pippen had no weaknesses...he is a swiss army knife.
hey sean, thanks for your respect and high regard for scottie, along with your concern for him and his circumstance of late. just a touch of class neither seen nor heard quite often enuff these days. your rather large enthusiasm is absolutely a kick every time. many thanks bruh, for years of countless grins!
That opening clip with Pippen dunking is particularly intriguing to me, because I remember that was game 3 of the first round of the playoffs in the second 3peat (I forget which year), and my family was listening to the game in the car on the radio because we had something to do that night. I remember hearing the play and the announcers were going crazy but Pippen kinda hurt his back when he fell, but that is the first time I've ever actually seen the clip with my own eyes. Crazy!
Pippin was the most important part of the championship bulls. When Mike went to play baseball the bulls had almost the same record. Scottie could do everything and was a elite defender.
@jr6178 What are you objecting to. Mike quit after the 1st 3 chips, and the Bulls had almost the same record. Pip was an Allstar and 1st team NBA plus 1st team all defense. He was in the MVP race and up for defensive player of the year. If the bulls had another elite 2 guard that year, they would have won without Mike, IMO.
@@2tall886 Pip wasn't the most important part of the championship bulls. pip wasn't in the MVP or dpoy race. dpoy was on lock and it was a 2 man battle for the between the dream and Robinson. Bulls won 3 in a row a brought in 6 new players after MJ retired. Many players leave teams that make the playoffs without them magic, bird, Shaq, Ewing, Drexler, Barkley and many more 94 bulls aren't special
Scottie Pippen was the embodiment of basketball. He was, quite literally, everything about the game! A man who could be described as the essence of basketball itself!!!
I agree. Almost everyone has Jordan at shooting guard on their all-time starting 5 list, but "How do you have Jordan without Pippen?" is what I always wonder. My starting 5: C - Hakeem Olajuwon PF - Tim Duncan SF - Scottie Pippen SG - Michael Jordan PG - John Stockton
Living in the Pacific NW it was great to be a basketball fan. Even when the Sonics &/or Blazers weren't all that good, the NBA brought some of the greatest players of all time to town. Getting to see Scottie and Michael playing, albeit beating, "my team" (Sonics) or "those guys" (Blazers), it was pure joy to watch. Hopefully our kids will get to see the return of the Sonics. They'll sit in the stands with our grandkids and tell them about how they saw "The Glove" guard "The GOAT", and how grandad saw Kareem (before he was Kareem😉) and Oscar "The Big O" Robertson (Milwaukee Bucks) against the Sonics. The passing of these memories are so important to keep the game alive.
Winning basketball isn't about numbers on a piece of paper. The one thing you hear over and over from people who played with and against him is "he's the only guy who could score 8 points, and completely dominate the game." He obviously isn't the GOAT, but anyone who saw him play, and knows ball, knows he is one of the greats.
@@JeremyHurtt The one thing we hear over and over again? People who played with and against says he's the only guy who could score 8 points and completely dominate the game? Name just one source, or video.
Thank you for this video. I truly don't care how Pippen has been vocal these past few months...but I will honestly say SCOTTIE PIPPEN was my favorite player (yes above MJ). He won 6 champs, def player awards, offensive player awards, all star, dream team, etc. He is a GOAT, and everyone should respect his game and put his name on these "who is great" comparisons!!!🔥 🐐
My favorite duo of all time. MJ and Pippen. Now imagine all of this AND Scottie not being salty, this would make him not just a great player but a great person as well. Did he sacrifice something (his ego perhaps) for the team to win? Sure. But that’s what the team is about. You can’t win championships without certain sacrifices.
Lmao he is a great person probably too much of a good person. Steve Kerr said it in the video. Scottie was beloved on the Bulls. He was the antithesis to MJ. People won with Mj and they respected him but most of his teammates couldn’t stand him. Scottie was universally liked.
What Jordan said summed up what I saw when they played. Michael was the one who toughened up Pippen . Like he said he had Scottie's back if anything popped off . Playing with a guy like Jordan he had to raise his game on both sides of the ball . When Jordan first retired after his father died , Scottie to me like played like he was just one of the guys and remember Scottie sitting on the sidelines looking into the TV camera pointing at his Jordan sneaker and motioning with his finger for Michael to come back . If Scottie never played with Michael he wouldn't be half the player he became . You can take what Isiah Thomas says ,like a grain of sand . Everybody knows he hates Jordan and the feeling is mutual . He still has sour grapes over not being on the Dream Team but that's the price you pay for being a lead Bad Boy .
Hey Sean I’m a long time supporter and I know you have done a lot of videos about the bulls but I would love to see a deep breakdown of all the role players and their impact no matter how small thanks
I just watched the 93 Knicks series. Scottie literally won that series. He blocked Charles Smith twice in the last sequence of game clean. He scored 29 in game 3 when Jordan couldnt buy a shot all game and finished with 22 points and Bulls were down 0-2. He also got Horace, Will Perdue, BJ and Paxson involved in that game and the supporting cast won game 3. Pippen and Grant won game 6 after knicks lost their spirit. MJ willed the bulls to that 6th championship and carried most of the load that year if not all of it. No question. But because that is the last thing we saw, we forget that pippen won them some other series in those 6.
I was screaming at the TV that night after them blocks and I was so glad I wasn't going to have to hear knick fans and bull haters at school the next day #10th grade memories
I’m 55, live in Chicago and have seen Jordan and pippen play 30-40 times courtside, pippen was the best defender in the nba, he was phenomenal, great facilitator , and could score 18-20 points a game, I have him at 10 on my top ten list 👍🏼 it’s to bad all this crap with MJ and pippen now, it breaks my heart ❤️
He had a role. In the beginning, the Bulls didn't need him to score. But, as time went on, Phil changed his philosophy. So that they could get pass, Detroit.
@@wack8589 Pippen crumbled in the Piston's series... I would say if Pipp would have developed quicker they could of beat that Piston team 89 that won it all... Pipp first few years he was consider a bust and Horace was the better player. People forget Pippen didn't become Pippen till 92... He should thank the Bulls every day that they waited for him to mature into Robin.. He was never a great scorer he benefited from Mike getting all the attention on offense... The shit Pippen learned from Mike playing the passing lanes and being the QB of the defense... He was a role player every year MJ was there...
Favorite player of all-time. I think his winning mentality is overlooked. Dude broke his body to keep winning. I was so rooting for Portland to get back
Scootie was a great defender and good scorer and passer. This combination of skills over 16 years are worthy of celebration, but there is nothing in his career for anyone to call him a GOAT in anything. Moreover, one of the critical things missed by people overstating his ability is the effect of playing next to a player the other team was focused on. MJ's greatness meant that Pippen had an easier time on offense because of him. To be honest, Scottie should admit that.
Not everybody can be a superstar. There's no shame in being a role player and Scottie was great at just that. I wish he would just do away with the inferiority complex, it does nothing for him but self destruction.
All that you said I can’t disagree with. But I also don’t think there’s another all star that would’ve put up with Jordan all those seasons. Especially after all the winning, he still stuck around and played out his low contract. Most would’ve been gone after 2 rings. And then NONE would’ve stuck around for all 6. They would’ve went somewhere to be the man

@@eddieG667 I can't speculate about players mindsets, but my point is simply that as good as Pippen was playing next to Mike made things easier for him. if you recall when Jordan first retired ( maybe to take the focus off what happened to his Dad, by the way, my brother worked with his Dad at GE in Wilmington and I saw Mike's first games at our neighborhood community center in Wilmington NC ) the Bulls play went South proving his value to the team and proved Scottie to not be as good without him. As time has passed I feel strongly that Pippen's rep has been blown beyond what he deserves. I offer Pippen's inclusion into the 50 Greatest ahead of better players like Bernard King, Bob Mcadoo, and others as an example. As I said Scottie was very good, but one of the 50 greatest I think not.
i watched the 10 episode series on the bulls. i never watched an nba game in my life. i do watch this channel though. and it always sounded like pippen was under rated. that 10 episode series imo really highlighted how good pippen was for the bulls. imo he was the glue that kept that team together all those years. everyone looked to pippen. if this guy can take MJs childish behavior then we can. etc. on top of that pippen 1st few years was good player. admitedly it looks mj helped him become a great player. and that really showeed when mj retired and pippen got to lead the bulls himself. he did a great job imo. but sadly he lacked that driving force to push everyone over the hump. but he was a much better player than anyone gave him credit for. drastically underpaid his later years with the bulls. but i understand the contract and why.
Hey guys, I just came over to say I take Scottie in a 30 min ride to the airport today. Scottie Pippen is most def the goat a very athletic and versatile playe who impacted the game and not from scoring. Defense and playmaker he was very much over looked because of who he played with. His perspective on MJ is his experience of playing with and being around MJ people on the outside don't know what was said and done behind the scenes. Great clip and it's so good to be reminded of just how great Scotty was as a player. He had all of the great tools of a Basketball Player combined into one solid high performance player. He has a very high Basketball IQ, and his team mates loved playing with him and his personality. He was the real deal. With all that said, this is totally out of his character and what we've and his team mates have known. It's sad to see him beefing with MJ even though MJ has said over and over that he was the best team mate he ever had and gave him high credit for their dynasty, 6 Chamionships and MJs personal success. Scotty is really hurting bad inside and I believe it's not MJ so much, or even feeling slighted in the Last Dance Docuseries as much, but that bad nasty divorce with Larsa and shes now dating MJs son. To me, his bitterness and anger is anchored more in that and MJ is an associated target to vent some of that anger on. I dont like it and I hope it stops and he can some how fix it with MJ ( good luck with that). But it still does not take away that fact that he is one of the games best players and Small Forwards of all time and he revolutionized the Small Forward position creating and perfecting what we now call "The Point Forward". The man was one bad dude on the floor.
Scottie Pippen was a very good basketball player; exceptional defender and could score as needed. Jordan said the best complement, can’t say Jordan without Pippen. Scottie’s crime is that he wasn’t Jordan as a player, and that isn’t a crime. Only problem I had with Scottie was in the 1994 playoffs when he sat out that final play against the Knicks when Kukoc made that final shot.
If Jordan did not remind this knicks situation in the “Last dance” most of us would not remembered this… and this pissed Pip off. He needs help, but it is his problem. I will remember him as top 50top75 and my fav. Player of all time

Michael’s unprecedented competitiveness goaded Scottie into pushing his own limitations and in the process Pippen fought through his own demons and became one of the all time greats he otherwise wouldn’t have become, which I think is why people like Charles Barkley and Oakley resented him; because in a universe where Michael Jordan wasn’t there to rage every day at Scottie to toughen up or be left behind... comfort and complacency would have contained Pippen to a still talented yet eventually forgotten player among the many in NBA history.
Scottie was a 18-20 ppg player in his best years, and he's still famous only because he had the lack to be MJ's no.2 in the Bulls dynasty. Much greater players are far less known to young fans today, because they didn't play for Jordan's Bulls.

Great basketball player but overrated. They won twice when he wasn’t an all star. And they won 2 times when he wasn’t the second best player in the playoffs ( 1992 Horace Grant was better, and 1996 Rodman was better).
In my opinion, he always had the hardware to be one of the best, but Jordan is the one who gave him the 'fire' or the 'software' or whatever you want to call it, as well as the opportunity, to keep him running at full capacity. His productivity didn't go up much during Jordan's absence between 93 and 95, it was more like he scored a bit more and assisted a bit less, and he kind of fell off a bit too quickly after the Bulls days.
I vividly remember seeing on NBC in the pregame during the 1997 Playoffs where the cameras used to go into the Locker room before big playoff games and walk around and the cameraman tried to walk into another locker room where they were injecting Pippen in the back with a cortezone shot before a playoff game, and Crew pushed the cameraman out and threw a towel over the lens. That's all that needs to be said.

I loved watching him play defense. Don’t sleep on his offense either. He was an underrated offensive player. He could get you a bucket if he had to.
I think Scottie is seriously underrated and overlooked because he's always been in MJs shadow. If they weren't teammates people would talk about how great he really was a lot more. Pippen was an amazing player and he deserves a lot more credit.
Thank you for this balanced portrayal of Scotty Pippen. IMO he was the number two player of that era. Only slightly behind MJ. The Last Dance was not fair to him.
I notice 2 things. When doing these interviews, Scottie is the only plyaer who have to have his teammates say good things about him. And two he nevwr ever gets credit for all the super star players he dunked on in the finals alone he dunked on drexler, Barkley, kemp, and Malone. Hall of famers and all stars
The best on ball defender EVER TO PLAY THE GAME. It's what u shld teach young players now. He is my favorite player of all time right beside Larry Legend. All around basketball hustle.
Bulls had (4) great defensive players in the league in that era, Ron Harper with those long arms was great defensive guard, along with MJ, then they had Rodman & Scottie
Things happen..people change..people reaction are different according to their emotions or experiences..I enjoyed Scotties game ..it's unfortunate what he's going through his wife and all the other stuff..I wish him the best
This video tribute was long overdue!! Scottie will always be one of three best to play this game! I hate to see him beefing with MJ but the man's resume speaks for itself!!
Pippen was more than Robin. He was the gel. And I wish the Last Dance talked more about the team and showed us how special Pippen was instead of focusing on his contract and focusing on him not playing because Kukoc get to shoot the last shot. I thought that was unneccesary since it wasn't even in that season, it was the season that MJ went to play baseball and Pippen was taking that team alone to the Eastern Final and almost won. I mean, if MJ was going to rub salt into Pippen's wound, and talk about old stuff, it was unfair to not talk about the achievement of Pippen in that year MJ was gone. It was unfair, out of all the great things Pippen did that season, MJ picked on that mistake by Pippen which everyone already forgotten but MJ picked it back up and reminded everyone. And Pippen told him as a man to ask MJ not to put it in, MJ did it anyway because he needed the documentary to glorify himself, which wasn't neccessary because we already know how great he is. The Last Dance was just too MJ centric. MJ did it to make people forget how great Pippen was that year MJ retired and pulled Pippen down, and Pippen was the best teammate MJ ever had who made those Championships possible. Without Pippen, MJ might get a few MVPS but not final or championship to be the GOAT.
I'm a huge Scottie Pippen fan. It's so sad to see what has happened to him now. He is lashing out because he let so many people close to him walked over him during his career. He's boiling over.
People throwing around GOAT like its something cool to say. Pip was amazing no doubt about it. Definitely top 25 of all time. And I'm going to get hated on but I'm saying one of the best 25 OF ALL TIME. But GOAT means Greastest Of All Time.
The Bulls did not become a true championship contender until Pippen and Coach Jackson joined Jordan. Jordan needed the right type of players - and coach - around him.
Imagine not knowing the real story and then saying what you said sounding like a kid talking out his ass just repeating bad takes that people put up for comments... Pippen first few years even the first chip the Bulls won Pippen wasn't the Pippen people remember. People thought Horace was the better player and his stats prove that the first few years. Then you got Phil a rookie coach who stole his assistant's triangle offense... Rookie Coach! MJ was the biggest reason why they won. Pippen got a lot better after his first chip. You take away Pippens chips and he doesn't make the top 100 players ever. Did you watch bud?
Jordan led the underdog Bulls to the 89-ECF with D.Collins as head coach and with no All-Star caliber teammates. Took the Champs to six games with C.Hodges as the Bulls 2nd leading scorer in that series. Who was Phil before the Bulls? Jordan needed help like everyone else.
The Bulls were the best team ever at Scoring off their defense quickly on coast to coast steals. Pippen is also the best at coast to coast scores from the rebound to a dunk or layup. Scottie Pippen is the Fastest player of all time from one end to the other with the ball also without. Scottie is one of the top PG's of all time and maybe the best SF of all time. He and Magic are the only players in the Top 10 that are Pass First and even Pass Second. Most unselfish player of all time along with the likes of Jokic, Magic, Isiah, Rodman and Jordan. If you take Pipps chips away his stats wouldn't even be enough to get him in the top 100.... If you understand the game and what he does on the court that doesn't make the stat book.. The things kids will never understand... Even though Pipps first few years was consider a bust and everyone thought Horace was the better player.. Scottie Pippen was also a very reliable NBA player during his time with the Portland Blazers in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The Blazers didn't win a championship back then, but they were a very strong team.
The 2000 Playoff Conference Finals in particular was a great game.

His ONLY weakness was courage

That opening clip with Pippen dunking is particularly intriguing to me, because I remember that was game 3 of the first round of the playoffs in the second 3peat (I forget which year), and my family was listening to the game in the car on the radio because we had something to do that night. I remember hearing the play and the announcers were going crazy but Pippen kinda hurt his back when he fell, but that is the first time I've ever actually seen the clip with my own eyes. Crazy!
I watched that game live...oh it was so good
Scottie Pippen was a great player, he played Hard everytime i grew up watching the bulls ❤,
Pippin was the most important part of the championship bulls. When Mike went to play baseball the bulls had almost the same record. Scottie could do everything and was a elite defender.
Exactly and that was without mike thank you
Yeah and pride eat him alive.
No he wasn't. The bulls won 3 in a row plus they brought in 6 new players in 1994
@jr6178 What are you objecting to.

Scottie Pippen was the embodiment of basketball. He was, quite literally, everything about the game! A man who could be described as the essence of basketball itself!!!
Scottie is one of the few nba players who’s exact game has yet to be replicated.
Facts
Every time someone asks me my starting five, Pippen is always on that list. No question about it.
No doubt.
I agree. Almost everyone has Jordan at shooting guard on their all-time starting 5 list, but "How do you have Jordan without Pippen?" is what I always wonder.
My starting 5:
C - Hakeem Olajuwon
PF - Tim Duncan
SF - Scottie Pippen
SG - Michael Jordan
PG - John Stockton
Scottie averaged 16ppg 5, 5 for his career. Less than 20ppg for his finals and went scoreless 4x in his playoff career. Definitely the GOAT.

Winning basketball isn't about numbers on a piece of paper.
The one thing you hear over and over from people who played with and against him is "he's the only guy who could score 8 points, and completely dominate the game."
He obviously isn't the GOAT, but anyone who saw him play, and knows ball, knows he is one of the greats.

Thank you for giving this man (Scottie Pippen) his just due. You are one of gods gift to mankind. Keep up the good work sir
My favorite player of all time!!

With all that said, this is totally out of his character and what we've and his team mates have known.
MJ have this high respect to Pippen. He acknowledge and always acknowledge him
Def one of the best 🏀 🏆🏆🏆 🏆🏆🏆
I'm a huge Scottie Pippen fan. It's so sad to see what has happened to him now. He is lashing out because he let so many people close to him walked over him during his career. He's boiling over.
If Pippen was such a great defensive player why didn’t he ever win DPOY?
Scottie is a true Legend
People throwing around GOAT like its something cool to say. Pip was amazing no doubt about it. Definitely top 25 of all time. And I'm going to get hated on but I'm saying one of the best 25 OF ALL TIME. But GOAT means Greastest Of All Time.
No one is calling him “the” goat. Not even in this video. Just pippen is underrated asf. Especially defensively.
No explanation needed, saw the "Pimpster" throw it down with MJ. One of the best defenders to play the game.
Scottie was always my guy on that Bulls team.
Scottie was the tarantula, before there was K.D.
Scottie Pippen my favorite Player in the NBA
The Bulls were the best team ever at Scoring off their defense quickly on coast to coast steals. Pippen is also the best at coast to coast scores from the rebound to a dunk or layup. Scottie Pippen is the Fastest player of all time from one end to the other with the ball also without. Scottie is one of the top PG's of all time and maybe the best SF of all time. He and Magic are the only players in the Top 10 that are Pass First and even Pass Second. Most unselfish player of all time along with the likes of Jokic, Magic, Isiah, Rodman and Jordan. (3 Bulls, that is how good the Bulls were)
Scottie Pippen and Julius Erving were the two players I loved to watch play. They didn't run. They glided. They didn't jump. They flew.
From back in the day Scottie was a major baller..way underrated because of Jordan mostly
For me it's Michael Magic Larry kobe and Scottie. My best 5. Scottie is my favourite player of all time. Best defensive player ever.
Theyre the d best duo of all time
Pippen was my favorite player
Scotty was my favorite bull, but it was because of Jordan that pip could ball out. Take away Jordan and that negates Scotty
