      We believe it’s Volvo. Next best would be scania. That’s our opinion and I’m sure other people would possibly have their favourites but Jash had been driving many lorries in the uK and Volvo comes Most reliable and most efficient too- not the cheapest but in a long run less issues so less cost to run

    Hi , Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 what a great informative video , I wasn't looking for the video it just popped up in my feed and im glad it did , very informative and helpful ..... I'm currently considering starting a single truck / owner operator business here , process seems similar to UK only difference I can see is we have to have truck prior to application as all truck details have to go on application otherwise process seems the same , €9000 available for first truck etc etc ....
    It's definitely not a business to go into half heartedly as you have mentioned costs will cripple you in a couple of months if truck or trucks are standing still . To my knowledge I don't think we have anything like 'Haulage Exchange ' you mentioned for bidding on jobs here which is a shame..... but maybe there is and I don't know about it yet ?
    Great video 👍👍

    • @AgnesMann
      @AgnesMann  Год назад

      Thank you so much...
      That would be strange that in Ireland you must have truck first as it means you might not get the license and be stuck with a truck... Maybe if you look closely you only need to specify how many trucks you want to have and only once you're license is granted you ten specify which reg/truck will need OLicence Disk printed... Please look into this again as it seems illogical in my opinion...

  • @a320nick
    @a320nick 2 года назад +1

    Have you tried 3 lorries. . The first vehicle pays for the fixed costs of the other two vehicles, which you run at a nice gross profit.
    From that point on you just need turnover, repeat business that pays their bill to you.
    Thank for the video. I did crunch the numbers once and found that if you work for an established operator as a PAYE employee then you will take home the same wages but with much less headache of cashflow, crawling for business, always getting business, and those fuel and maintenance bills, or massive 'new truck' payments.
    Good luck!👍

    • @AgnesMann
      @AgnesMann  2 года назад

      Yes you are right totally about it that being a driver pays same money what you have left being an operator especially with just one truck. With second truck you have a bit more left and with third as you say you start seeing nice profit left behind. This is what we are aiming at to get the third truck and will apply for it soon. There is a shortage of trucks nowadays so this is the issue we are facing. Hopefully we will grow one day as it’s a good business to run. Are you operator yourself?

    Hi Agnes and Jash, very informative as usual. Shaun from Steem Trans here. We are almost there securing the operating centre in the Tilbury area. I couldn’t help hear the insurance is £1000 a month for 2 trucks. Is that correct? If so what type of insurance do you have?
    Shaun

    • @AgnesMann
      @AgnesMann  2 года назад +1

      Hi Shaun hope you and Raymond are well. It’s good to hear from you and it’s great news that you are going ahead with your operators licence. As you are new business with 0years no claims bonus therefore you will pay around £1000 per month for 2 trucks. If you shop around you might get few hundred pounds off. You can try Cornish insurance 01840213836. Insurance is based on what you haul. We have the following covers Amazon,RHA,CMR,Public liability and employer liability insurance. You must inform the insurer what is the work you will be doing and they will give you what you need. Your 2nd year renewal should be around £7k for 2 trucks annually.
      I will send you Jash number and it will be easy for you to contact him directly.

      Hi
      Thanks for your question
      You cannot legally operate the vehicle if you don’t have an O licence. Also it will be difficult to get an insurance for a commercial vehicle with no licence as well. So yes you got it right from my video- first O license- where you specifically state how many vehicles will you be operating- then once you have approval from Traffic Commissioner- you then go and buy a truck (lease hire or purchase)
      I hope that helps

    Thank you for the great video. I think you do not use factoring company for getting paid quickly. Isn't it worth it to use a factoring company to get a quicker cash flow? How do you deal with that? :)

      Hi Dan thank you for great feedback. We do not use any factoring company as I'm an accountant so take care of it myself. This is temporary and I do believe work will pick up later into this year. Don’t be discourage by current situation .

    How you guys valuate work for example how much mile will cost for customer and etc. . Thank you in advance .
    Kind Regards

      We count the distance, conciser the load we pulling (the weight and type of goods) and time it will take us. Plus you have to consider other factors like vehicle maintenance, fuel, drivers wages. If it’s a short run you charge a bit higher rate as it’s then time In finding other load that might not be available. It really depends. You need work out what is your daily running cost and then as your margin to it so you’re not making a loss. Hope that helps

      @@AgnesMann morning, do you have like formul to calculate?

    • @AgnesMann
      @AgnesMann  Год назад

      No I don’t. You need to know your costs then add the margin and that would be what you need to charge

    I would like to know what past experience
    led you into this.
    With the driver shortage, this does not make
    sence.

      the drivers shortage is no longer an issue I'm afraid,

      @@AgnesMann The stance you take could be the problem. It takes more than knowing your bank balances to know if you are really running your own business.

    Hi, Thx for video,
    I'm looking to get in this buisness, if I'll buy just the truck not the trailer it'll be a big difference on profit?
    Thanks

    • @AgnesMann
      @AgnesMann  2 года назад

      hi that is great glad to hear.if you don't buy trailer you loose some opportunities as 9/10 jobs requires trailers (best to get 2.9 as well as more opportunities. Unless you already have contract for unit only. Hope this helps

      I'd recommend to start of 25k as you will need cash flow for the first 2/3 months before customers start paying.
