  • This level took forever to make. I really like how it turned out too and coming up with ideas on how to use Mutant Vines was a pain due to how limited they were as far as use, so the team created a Mutant Vine Eater npc that makes them act like a snake block in a way. There hasn't been much of an update on the project as of late but it's still being worked on.

    The level looks impressive, quite an interesting use of the Vine Mutant NPC. Good luck with your project.

      thx, yeah, there have been a lot of setbacks and life has been busy for all the team members of the project, but we're still chugging along. Mutant vines were very limiting and I noticed a lot of people not hiding them in layers and events, so they would just sit there and it would just become a regular climbing level, and even after creating those setups, eventually the level would grow stale because in reality, there's not really much you can do with them without making some tweaks or in our case, creating an entirely new NPC

      thx, yeah, we're proud of it too! We have a variant for each playable (except Link to my knowledge), but Mario is the only playable for the project

    I feel like the Nintendo approach could've been taken at the start of the level, where the mechanic about the Mutant Vines would be very easy, and slow before jumping into that later part where you jump between them

      the thing is that in an earlier level, it is centered around climbing already, so this level is played under the assumption that the player is already familiar with how climbing works. That one is a bit more basic as opposed to this one.

      @@ProxyHaxOO hmm, I'm not too sure though. It feels like the challenge comes in a bit too early for me. And the vine eater part isn't well signaled and comes out of nowhere in the 2nd part over danger. Don't get me wrong the visuals and other things look amazing

      @@varietychan I gotcha, it's a valid criticism. I can make some tweaks later, and you do bring up a good point about how the vine eaters are introduced. There is a telegraph, but it may not be obvious to everyone.

      I'm pretty sure there's a sound file you can replace with the same name. I wasn't the one who did it, but that might be how

    1:39 At the top left, the pipe is cut ugly, place a pipe block under the earth blocks.
