100%. He mentioned one time on the show he's on (on ESPN Deportes) that his chin wasn't as strong in the latter part of his career because of his lifestyle (drugs, partying, alcohol etc.). And this was before he lost to Randall, he said he knew his first loss was coming sooner or later.

I remember the very day he got dropped by Frankie Randall. Up until that day I swore he was the real "6 Million Dollar Man". My grandfather was a very stoic man, who rarely showed any emotion, but that night, he was devastated! We were devastated! It's like the wind got knocked outta of us and the world had just stopped for all of the Mexicans and Mexican American's around the globe. Not quite the same, but I imagine it was something like when I hear older people taking about how shocked they were when JFK was assassinated. Obviously the assassination of our American president being the more serious and tragic of the two, him being murdered and all, but we (Mexicans) we're Mexicans and boxing fans alike were shocked to say the least.

Just as our mind detioriates as we get older, so to do our bodies. Once you've had a concussion once its that much easier to have another. I was hit by a train at 17 yrs. old, I'm 45 now, and I still have, and feel effects from it. I remember the doctor telling both me and my family, "it's like when you drop a radio but you can hear something broke loose inside of it, but it still plays!" It's never the same after that! I remember thinking to myself, it must be like that saying goes, "that's gonna leave a mark!"

For those that don't know much boxing, sparring Chavez would be like playing MJ one on one. Or lineing up opposite Ray Lewis playing hockey against Wayne Gretzky things like that. He touched'em up on the side and introduced Oscar's "liver" to boxing. Lol. There's some good stories out there in regards to these boxers. Not sure if any of you guys remember Yori Boy Campas. He was a bit older (49) but not by much, kind of slid in between 80's and 90's very, very, humble, extremely good person. He sparred with Vargas once when Vargas wasn't a pro yet but Vargas tells you the story on how everything went down you should take a listen, vintage Vargas for sure! So much respect for Campas you don't find men like him anymore, forgot about boxers! For those that don't know he fought Tito Trinidad, Oscar Delahoya, and Fernando Vargas all in their prime and didn't lay it down for shit! I got a little teary eyed when he fought Tito.
