Amazing how many fights that man has been in not even counting the sparring session and he still is completely fine till this day no brain damage Mexican can really take some punches 😂💪🏿🔥💯
I had the Chavez - De La Hoya and Chavez Mosley sparring sessions on vhs back in 1991, way before youtube. In fact, I didn't even know who Mosley was at the time.
You are very lucky to have these vhs videos.
Nice
@@mikep114 They're all on youtube already.
@@uncletony6210 Gotta check that out 🥊
Mosley and De la hoya were amateurs at the time Chavez had about 80 fights by then.
No wonder he became a good fighter.
💯💯
CAN WE CALL CHAVEZ SR STEEL CHIN ? CAUSE HE PAST THE HUNDRED FIGHT AND NEVER KNOCK OUT.
100%. He mentioned one time on the show he's on (on ESPN Deportes) that his chin wasn't as strong in the latter part of his career because of his lifestyle (drugs, partying, alcohol etc.). And this was before he lost to Randall, he said he knew his first loss was coming sooner or later.
I remember the very day he got dropped by Frankie Randall. Up until that day I swore he was the real "6 Million Dollar Man". My grandfather was a very stoic man, who rarely showed any emotion, but that night, he was devastated! We were devastated! It's like the wind got knocked outta of us and the world had just stopped for all of the Mexicans and Mexican American's around the globe. Not quite the same, but I imagine it was something like when I hear older people taking about how shocked they were when JFK was assassinated. Obviously the assassination of our American president being the more serious and tragic of the two, him being murdered and all, but we (Mexicans) we're Mexicans and boxing fans alike were shocked to say the least.
Just as our mind detioriates as we get older, so to do our bodies. Once you've had a concussion once its that much easier to have another. I was hit by a train at 17 yrs. old, I'm 45 now, and I still have, and feel effects from it. I remember the doctor telling both me and my family, "it's like when you drop a radio but you can hear something broke loose inside of it, but it still plays!" It's never the same after that! I remember thinking to myself, it must be like that saying goes, "that's gonna leave a mark!"
@@jerrydeloza9915 That's crazy! After so many years...
But yeah I can imagine. Chavez seemed destructible.
@@giostotle for those who may have been to young to ever see him fight or for whatever reason just didn't want too, but know who he is now, he's changed alot. He never had one word to say, not one. Fighter after fighter would disrespect him and he'd just stand their stoic (e.g. Camacho, another great one) kinda of like Oscar and Mosley in they're careers. He dated Salma Hayek alot of people don't know that.
MOSTLU VERY HONEST GUY SAYING HE LEARNED FROM CHAVEZ
Had the absolute pleasure of meeting and talking to Shane Mosley Sr at the MGM grand, after the Mayweather v Canelo fight. (After fight party) I think I talked his ear's off for about 2 hrs straight, on boxing history and my admiration for Shane Jr. He was very engaging and took it all in his stride. I often wonder if he mentioned to his son about this excitable, British guy that wouldn't stop praising his son's career.
🔥🔥🔥 Both Shane and Shane Jr. are very cool people.
@@giostotle His father has such a pleasant personality, which I assume is why Shane Jr is such a likeable guy. I mean, who'd figure when you see Shane Jr in interviews, he's actually a calculated, wild beast in the ring? I'm kind of devastated that Shane Jr wasn't on hand to talk with, as that would've been the icing on the cake. Shane Sr is a total gentleman.
@@manosparavida3551 100%!

Shane Mosley one of the best boxer in the world, I am your fan, always be a gentlenmen
Something that is not talked about is how they made Oscar wear 14's I believe. So yeah they knew he was heavy handed. For those that don't know much boxing, sparring Chavez would be like playing MJ one on one. Or lineing up opposite Ray Lewis playing hockey against Wayne Gretzky things like that. He was and still mexican version of Ali in the ring not politically but in the ring 4 sure.
Do you know what chavez wore?
@@GuyFromTheSouth same or 16
@@GuyFromTheSouthI don't recall, but I do remember is that the minute Oscar started getting comfortable in there, thinking he was doing something, Chavez dropped'em! He touched'em up on the side and introduced Oscar's "liver" to boxing. Lol. There's some good stories out there in regards to these boxers. Not sure if any of you guys remember Yori Boy Campas. He was a bit older (49) but not by much, kind of slid in between 80's and 90's very, very, humble, extremely good person. He sparred with Vargas once when Vargas wasn't a pro yet but Vargas tells you the story on how everything went down you should take a listen, vintage Vargas for sure! So much respect for Campas you don't find men like him anymore, forgot about boxers! For those that don't know he fought Tito Trinidad, Oscar Delahoya, and Fernando Vargas all in their prime and didn't lay it down for shit! I got a little teary eyed when he fought Tito. Thought for sure they were gonna charge Tito with attempted murder! Jesus Christ!
@@jerrydeloza9915 yeah both were incredible fighters. I wish their fight happened when chavez was abit younger
💯
ran into/met Shane Mosley at a hotel lobby in Vegas dude straight cool as fck..
Dope. Really cool dude Shane.
Chavez’s major problem was cocaine addiction. He ruined his body being a drug addict. He is still the best Mexican boxer of all time and it’s not even close. I don’t think he could have had a better career even if he never did drugs.
He would have looked better at 147. So slow at that weight.
Mosley was a bad ass tho
Yea a bad ass steroid user. Dude was a fraud
Mosley great boxer great person, un chingonazo, me quito el sombrero
I was there in Huntington park upstairs a Mexican restaurant ballroom where the ring was.
🔥🔥🔥
Pepe Rilley , Oscar , Shane and Vernon Forest were there! De La Hoya was getting ready for the Barcelona Olympics.

💯💯 classic.
I wonder if that Mosley guy become a champion like chavez predicted?
Man he may have 😎😁
LOL maybe even the HOF 🤔

Chavez is a treasure fighter
Chavez has never been that heavy like he said. not even now at his old age. when he fought at 147 he would not even go that high he was always way under. 🥊
Fighters typically weigh heavier when they're not in camp preparing for a fight.
Duran - Chavez - Arguello - Sanchez - Gómez.!!! Best latin boxers.

Aaron Pryor Took out Arguello and
Chavez was gifted those fights with Taylor and Sweet Pea

Yo, I was born in Huntington park.
champ
MOSLY, CHAVEZ, DE LA HOYA 2 OF THE GREATS!!
Chavez went 89-0 and fought 37 World Champions during that span before losing his first fight in the latter part of his career…while Mayweather only beat 15 world champions and decided to retire after 50 fights.
Chavez the goat
I remember Winky made easy work of Mosley made Shane look like an amateur great fights
Shane always struggled with boxers, and guys who fought behind the jab. Now if you were a brawler....Shane would eat you up.
winky wright is huge compared to shane.
Sugar Juice Shane Mosley. Without the juice, he was another Margarito
They're all on steroids..
UNTIL HIS CHIN GOT OLD HE STARTED TO SOFTEN.
Not even old. Cocaine is proven to weaken the bones. His bones became weak. From Steel to weak
Your visa is old. Renew it.
MOSLEY LE DIO UNA CHINGA A CHAVEZ Y LO DEJO EN EVIDENCIA
He did decent but Oscar was working Julio till they both threw right hands at the same time but Chavez landed first and harder! Oscar went down on one knee!
what are you talking about!? Chavez set him up with a soft left uppercut and left hook to the body before he timed Oscar
@@fernandodiazcampos5585 were you there too? Common man! I lived in South Gate close to Azteca Gym where Chavez trained a couple weeks before heading to Vegas! Close to that Restaurant with the upstairs ballroom.
When did Mosley became a Chinese man😳
Seriously. He looks like he has cheek implants....
WHY MOSLEY NEVER FIGTH TITO TRINIDAD
Oh man that was a fight i would have love to see,sad it didnt happen
He explained on the podcast that he was supposed to fight Trinidad but he lost to Winky Wright, so Winky got to fight Trinidad instead. One of the few champions Shane didn't get to face.

Chavez had a hard time going up to 142. Lol, Mosley is off. DLH told the story and had the weights correct.
Making weight and walk around weight 2 diff things
He was good till he stopped taking steroids

Good fighter but he was a steroid user and got popped using during the de la hoya fights. So what does that tell you
de la hoya still better tho
Chavez ,the guy with 95 complete bums on his record....fighting unknown fruit pickers in Mexico. ...when he was 72-0 and the wbc champ he fought a guy with 4 fights and 3 losses ....absolutely unaacapetable fighting people with that kinda record ...struggled with anyone decent and got some major gift decisions
Exactly he’s not the goat don’t know why so many people say that his 89-0 isn’t that impressive especially when you are fighting guys who are not ranked
I'm sure you can beat him.
@@Lemon-rk9hq Roger Mayweather, Edwin Rosario, Jose L. Ramirez, Meldrick Taylor, Pernell Whitaker, Hector Camacho... most title defenses in history...
His resume is a bit overrated but I'm going to go ahead and quote Roger Mayweather on this one, "MPDKSAB."
@@giostotle that’s not the point yeah he’s a legend but to say he’s the goat is bullshit
@@Lemon-rk9hq Ray Robinson has way more bums, they consider those fights sparring but got paíd. Chávez move up and retired Rosario, Who no one would fight and moved up again and did the same to Taylor. Both went to the hospital and were never the same.
