The LG LFCS is one of your only choices for a 30-inch French door refrigerator. But should you buy it? In this video you will learn about its best features and a few problems. Then we will show similarly priced refrigerators from Beko and Whirlpool.
First this refrigerator is the largest for a 30-inch cabinet at 22 cubic feet. The average is 18 cubic feet with the next largest being 21 in a top mount.
It also has a Smart Cooling System, which is designed to maintain accurate temperatures within the refrigerator.
The Linear Compressor reacts to temperature fluctuations to help keep food fresher LG also strategically places vents in the fridge to surround food with cool air using four sensors to monitor temperature throughout.
It’s a stylish refrigerator and will maintain temperature with a better compressor.
However, you have more affordable options available in top and bottom mount configurations as well as different options in the tech laden Beko and more feature-oriented Whirlpool.

My 30" LG has given excellent service for 11 years and counting, so I imagine when the time comes I'll get the same again.

I’d like to see a fridge this size with a regular door and craft ice ice maker. Come on LG, I know you can do it.

We bought this LG fridge a year ago for our vacation home and it has worked fine for us. A nice looking fridge that fits into our space and at 22 cu. ft. the largest in the 30 inch wide size. No complaints.

Bought this after saw this review in July, now it’s the end of October and we love it. The French door configuration in the smaller size is simply awesome. Thanks for the recommendation.

Whirlpool does not have an external ice dispenser. The door dispenser on this compared model only dispenses water. The ice maker only makes cubes and is in the freezer, just like the LG. Also, LG makes a freezer, the LFDS22520S that is nearly identical to what you're reviewing and includes the same type of door water dispenser.

This is correct. I have the LFDS22520S, and the dispenser is only for water. Ice is made in the freezer. Great refrigerator!

We had to buy this model this year. This LG and a Maytag model were the only two available in the store and we took the last LG unit they had in stock. 2 months in and it's ok so far.
The ice cubes do get a plasticky taste when left in the freezer too long. So you always need to change out the trays even if you don't use the ice.

External units are one of the most repaired items out there. None is better than another when it comes to service so if that is a feature you want, just know you are going to be having a service call at some point. As far as LG, yes... we love LG refrigeration so if that model has the features you need its a great purchase.

I have been educated by your presentations and find them helpful. Unfortunately we couldn’t quite get the French door counter depth unit of our choice in our space. A G.E. Profile unit was delivered but was just too wide so we had to refigure. We reordered a smaller and in stock G.E. 18.6 cu.ft. that is due this week. Frankly I would prefer to have a slightly smaller G.E. With an auxiliary mini freezer steps away. With a 31 year old G.E. unit still in operation they have made a believer of me. I also feel that parts and service concerns although near a larger city merit consideration.

Glad to hear you've found them valuable. You're on the right track, taking service and parts access into account.
