For people who may complain about these, the donations provide material for future technical videos, and the unboxing videos provide a thank you for the people funding the donations. Oh and these videos are great in my opinion, keep em coming!
Yup, and David has a nice channel and can make any video he feels like making. Sides, it's a nice shoutout to the people who give him things so he can make more videos for us.
McRocket I think some people *expect* 8-bit guy to regularly make more premium content and don't realise he make these unboxing videos to showcase what he will eventually show. It's exciting for me!
i'm a commodore 64 nerd and a bit of a techie. i like seeing different old and new technology and this channel provides just that. the fact that people of all nations pitch in and send david is a sign of hope for the world and brings us together.
5:20 Probably the sender put any old 5.25" disk in the drive just to keep the heads stable during shipping. Also.. don't stop making unboxing videos!!!
Man - so much coolness in those boxes!! Seeing this stuff always brings back memories of my own computer adventures in the ‘80s. And *please* don’t stop the unboxing videos!! I like seeing all the cool stuff you get. :-)
yeah, this already looks like a serious problem, i think this might be among the last unboxing videos unless he finds a proper long term storage solution lol
@ Be N S O N Although I haven't had anything worth sending, I wouldn't have any issue if he wanted to sell off a donation I had sent. If it helps fund the channel and maybe help fund storage then it isn't like the money is going to waste.
smartroadbiker An idea I would consider would be perhaps trading it off to other tech youtubers to do videos on. It'd be complicated logistically, but it'd benefit the smaller channels and create a stronger unity between the tech youtubers, and make youtube tech videos better across the board.
Liberalism is a Cult Calling a liberal a bigot is wrong in so many ways. Liberals tend to be open minded and accepting of most everyone, the exact opposite of being a bigot. Conservatives, on the other hand, tend to be closed minded and not accepting of people who are different, the exact definition of being a bigot.
Yeah his unboxing video’s are nice to watch i must admit that , but what blows my mind was, before i was watching this video, i already did put my commant on it to complain about those unboxing video’s and i tout i was the only one complaining about this, but then surprisingly rnough he say’s at the end that he recieved many commands complaining about those unboxing video’s and that they rather want to see reviews of products, wow what a coicidance to me.
Don't worry about the negative feedback! I see the unboxing videos as a way to also publicly 'thank' the people who send you all the stuff, and they're always entertaining too! On the downside, I don't think I'd ever be able to send you anything you would want, but who knows. Keep up the great work!!!
If you ever do *an Amiga episode* make sure it lasts at least 2 episodes. One for the hardware part and one of the software part (2d graphics, 3d graphics, music and games). You know what.... make that 3 episodes.
Problem is Amiga is not really '8 bit', it's 16bit or even 32bit with some models. He would undermine his own channel name by making video's about non 8bit machines. But, as an Amiga enthusiast I would not mind he makes Amiga video's. Because let's face it, the Amiga is also retro, as retro as the Commodore 64.
I love the unboxing videos. I appreciate the hard work you put in to this project, (the videos and documentaries) and look forward to future productions!
to the folks who are complaining about videos you don't like from anyone here on RUclips. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO WATCH ANYTHING. And if you are a patreon supporter and you expect anything from David, TOO BAD. He can do what he wants for his own videos. Patreon is not a legally binding contract.
Agreed. If anything, it's bonus content, as David said at the end of the video. I thought he'd made it pretty clear previously that it wasn't a huge process and one that he did throughout the month, and he's pretty good at putting out videos regularly with a good amount of content packed into them too.
Calm down, geez... Some people have a different opinion, don't need to throw them under the bus for it. They just don't like unboxing videos and honestly, I can kind of relate to that since almost every RUclipsr and their mom are doing those.
OK. This message is for all the subscribers. WHO IN THE HELL IN HERE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THESE VIDEOS?!!!!!!!!! Really!!!!! These are such a great addition to the channel. I myself have never donated anything...yet, but I'm sure the people who have donated enjoy seeing David spend 30 seconds or so bringing it to the world's attention. If anything, this is David's way of saying thank you in a more creative way to all who donate. Again, I haven't donated anything, but I truly appreciate that he takes the time (1 day folks) to pay this little homage to his subscribers and donators. Keep 'em comin', David!
WOW !!! A Anolougue Super NT !!!! It's a brand new Super Nintendo Hardware clone that doesnt run emulation. Its custom built from the ground up to perfectly emulate the Actual Super Nintendo Hardware. Those things are still on back order and hard to get your hands on. Somebody really likes you man. Google it. Its an awesome machine.... Me and my wife are super jealous over here.
They've really been getting the word out there about the Super NT, a LOT of retro gaming channels have gotten review units. Seems like a very high quality item and the price is not unreasonable when you consider how much a SNES + Framemeister/OSSC setup would cost you.
I know "Retro Core" did an unboxing video on it (I'm pretty sure he bought his with his own money) I'm sure that if the 8-bit guy were to review it, he'd probably would have to bring in a newer (small) TV or monitor instead of the Samsung CRT TV he usually uses.
Hi Dave, I would like to echo the sentiment of many commenters. The unboxing videos serves a great purpose, it shows us what may be coming up on the channel, and it also a heartfelt way to thank the donors. I wish I still had my old BBC Micro B+ to send to you, but that went to a local computer historian's collection
Hey! I saw an Amiga 600 on the thumbnail! I 've never clicked so fast on any video!! I grew up playing on my Amiga 600 for years and years , I still have it and love it! (still playing Sensible Soccer)
I own an e-waste business and have been dealing with older computers and electronics for 30 years. "Started in High School" My son told me about your channel and I'm loving it! I have been getting into restorations on older stuff. So fun and satisfying.
Whatever content you see fit to bring us is fine by me. These unboxing videos are interesting and fun and can be pretty darn informative. Thanks for every video you bring us!
Too much time spent addressing the bottom feeders. Why even acknowledge them, is what baffles me? They are the bottom 0.01% and their opinions are not valid.
Just wanted to say that I personally love your unboxing videos, so please do not stop them! These donations are valuable to the content we get to see, so I feel it is only right to give thanks to those who generously donate. Thank you David!
"Hi David, Netherlands here. You pronounce it as: "Ro-nald Kknor" (The "K" isn't silent). Knor means "Oink" by the way." That is NOT how I pronounce "Netherlands"... :D
I absolutely agree with that. -- If I've learned anything, it's that when you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one. -- Just do what would make you happy if you were one of your own viewers -- you'll enjoy the content you're making, and as a side-bonus, you may end up with a super predictable audience. 😎
I dig the unboxing videos, gives me a taste of what's to come. I have sheer amazement people can still find these parts. It's a nice way to give the senders a bit of recognition taboot. :)
I’m only thirteen years old, but I love your content and have learned so much from you! You are the best RUclipsr that has been on this platform in a while, keep up the good work!
Why would anyone complain about the unboxing vids. I love them. Super relaxing and always interestingly presented. Keep up the awesome work 8 Bit guy. 😁👍👍
So you got to the IBM PC Jr and as you were talking I was like, umm... But then you added at the end that you recently covered the video. Also reminded us that you filmed these as you get them, hence the deja vu. To those complaining about the unboxing videos- stuff it. This is not your channel, it is David's and he wants to do unboxing videos (and most of us enjoy seeing them!). He was incredibly generous in explaining himself to you at the end, and now that he has you can officially stop complaining. Not that you need my permission of course, but please keep up the unboxing videos, Mr. 8-Bit Guy- I'm pretty sure most of us appreciate them. Two thumbs up from me.
I’m a huge fan of all your videos and I definitely don’t think your unboxing videos are a waste of time. I look forward to them at the first of the month, keep up the good work!
I think the folks complaining about the unboxing videos seem to think David's actually approaching them like a video project, ie he's actually taking time out of his monthly schedule to produce them, when it's more of a passive project that David does as stuff comes in. They don't seem to realize that if David were to just stop doing them, there'd just be nothing else in their place. It really is as simple as if you don't like them, don't watch.
Frankly, I think the unboxing videos are good to do. It's a great way to show your appreciation for the generous people who send you these things. And, like you said, it hardly takes up any of your time, and it's not like people have to watch them. Keep up the good work, David!
I generally HATE unboxing videos, but these are fun for a couple of reasons. For one, I might go google something that you unpacked (I have a window open looking at the 1551 right now, for example); the other is that they work as teases for future content. I can't wait to see some of this in action. Some people can't quite understand that you'd have to be taking these things out of boxes anyway.. .setting up a camera doesn't take that much more time. I don't understand some people-- they're probably mad that you eat and sleep, too :D
Keep doing the unboxing videos, David! You seem to enjoy them and a lot of us really enjoy both your off-the-cuff reactions AND the tiny previews for upcoming 8-bit Guy/Keys videos. Don't let a few trolling people ruin your opinion of the rest of us!
David, keep doing the unboxing videos. I love them and it’s a great way to show thanks to the people who took the time to think of you. Keep up the good work.
I Like these unboxing videos. To those who complain about them...it's 8-bit's channel, he can put what he wants on it! I'll watch whatever he puts on it!
Ehi! I love your unboxing videos! Dont' worry about people complaining. I'm always amazed by those boxes! The idea that one guy is still programming games for the Vic20 or that existed doublesided cartridges or that existed huuuuge floppy disk like that! Amazing!
I like these mail shows. It’s a nice way to see accessories or systems that you don’t show in other videos or would take a long time to see in lots of other videos. Keep up the great work.
I'm all for these unboxing videos. It's a joy to watch stuff getting unwrapped and bringing a bit of happiness to someone. It would be nice to get a (optionally narrated) flyby of your whole inventory some day!
Thumbs up! I love those unboxing videos - lovely casual break from regular life. I missing those old videos sometimes and it shows off how great content creator you are David!
The unboxing videos are great, also this time was even more interesting as you interacted with some of the stuff you received, I think it's a nice touch as there's things like this crappy mini gameboy that doesn't deserve a full video review but I feel like if you hadn't done something in the mailbox section I would be very curious to see more, now I don't have this urge anymore. Keep'em coming and please do this type of interaction more often. Cheers from Brazil :D
It’s not only bonus content, by showing them you also show appreciation to the people who send these gifts. They are waiting in vain for you to unwrap what they have send. And you are receiving some really cool stuff.
Seriously some people complain about your unboxing videos? I LOVE THEM because it's really fun to see what kinds of techie stuff people send you, especially the obscure old tech...
He probably uploaded it first as a private video, then scheduled RUclips to post it at that time. Not every RUclips user gets that feature though, but I did end up getting it on my alternate account as a side effect of receiving a copyright strike there.
It will always boggle my mind how some people still complain about FREE content. A) Just don't watch. B) Create you own content. David, you're doing great. Everything you upload is a gift to your fans. So, thank you for dedicating your time to entertain and educate us. I'd love to have you on the show again soon. Take care man. Johnny
Dear David, I've been a long time watcher of your channel and I have to say this in regard with your closing statement. As much as I love your retro content, I absolutely love your unboxing videos too, as a bit of a retro nerd myself I get washed over with nostalgia and memories as those forgotten gems pop out of the infernal bubble wrap. So yeah, just wanted you to know I really enjoy these videos. Thanks~
Please keep doing the unboxing as it is a way to appreciate your supporters and you always have so nice stuffs and things to show. I just saw Sam's Journey live last Saturday on a C64 and it rocks so I am really looking forward to your review. I totally love your work and your channel so I do appreciate your unboxing videos. Not to mention the donations provide input for future videos.
I couldn't imagine these videos taking long to produce. They seem pretty straight forward. I also enjoy them, so keep them coming if you enjoy them too.
There was something very satisfying watching that Apple leaf get glued into place.
PixelPipes Closure for the OCD (or CDO...)
I was thinking the same thing....I wondered if he'd ever fix that leaf on a video.
Ahhh Pixelpipes... When will there be a new video? :) (love the Retro stuff)
It is complete now. ;)
I lost one of those leaves, so I can relate.
I love the unboxxing and consider it a thank you to those who donated.
Exactly!
Andy Merrett I know that I'm jealous. But, I still like the unboxing videos. Lol.
For people who may complain about these, the donations provide material for future technical videos, and the unboxing videos provide a thank you for the people funding the donations. Oh and these videos are great in my opinion, keep em coming!
Amen, I enjoyed the first one, and I'm going to enjoy the current one. Though The PC Jr actually was a great episode if you've checked it out.
I agree
Strongly agree, unfortunately people will complain about anything and everything.
I'm complaining about people complaining. 😂
Yup, and David has a nice channel and can make any video he feels like making. Sides, it's a nice shoutout to the people who give him things so he can make more videos for us.
I disagree with people complaining about these unboxing videos. I enjoy them and learn a lot about ALL KINDS of different systems from them.
Also a lot of his other videos rely on these donations, so it's a nice way to thank those who help make the channel.
McRocket I think some people *expect* 8-bit guy to regularly make more premium content and don't realise he make these unboxing videos to showcase what he will eventually show. It's exciting for me!
I dont get why people complain, If they don't like it they don't have to watch.
Sometimes I find myself clapping like an idiot at some of the stuff he unboxes.
Wow, people have complained about these unboxing videos? I love these, they're like a teaser of videos to come down the line!
i'm a commodore 64 nerd and a bit of a techie. i like seeing different old and new technology and this channel provides just that. the fact that people of all nations pitch in and send david is a sign of hope for the world and brings us together.

yeah, this already looks like a serious problem, i think this might be among the last unboxing videos unless he finds a proper long term storage solution lol
I don't think he can. He was sent this stuff for free, it'd be pretty dickish of him to sell it off.
@ Be N S O N Although I haven't had anything worth sending, I wouldn't have any issue if he wanted to sell off a donation I had sent. If it helps fund the channel and maybe help fund storage then it isn't like the money is going to waste.

I love the unboxing videos !
Yes we do
Lon.TV seems you have a hater Lon.... I would have never figured you to be one to attract one
Par for the course unfortunately.. Sad anonymous trolls don't discriminate :).
Lon, I'd bet money that loser doesn't even know who you are.

Livres Audio I also like the unboxing videos
Yeah David just keep doing what you're doing. There's a whole wide RUclips out there if someone doesn't want to enjoy these.
Absolutely! Who would complain about bonus content? Its great to see what might be coming up in a future video - like coming attractions.
Don't worry about the negative feedback! I see the unboxing videos as a way to also publicly 'thank' the people who send you all the stuff, and they're always entertaining too! On the downside, I don't think I'd ever be able to send you anything you would want, but who knows.
Keep up the great work!!!
You should never stop unboxing videos! Showing recognition to the donors is very respectful

@@Snowwie88 I mean he made MS DOS videos before this video
Never enough of cool unboxing videos! Sometimes it's the only chance to get some short commentary on rarely seen stuff.
I love the unboxing videos. It's like a preview of what upcoming episodes will feature. It's also a great way to thank the people who send you things.
I like the unboxing videos.
I also like these videos
Same here. Humbug to the complainers.
I agree! I usually end up seeing something I wasn't aware of before, so it's always a learning experience for me.
Same here. Keep going!
I think the unboxing videos as way for David to say "thanks" to his donators.
I love the unboxing videos. I appreciate the hard work you put in to this project, (the videos and documentaries) and look forward to future productions!

Thank you for taking the time to appreciate and showcase the people who donate. I enjoy watching them.
That came straight from Analogue. I forget if they gave him an NT as well?
A very expensive gift from A.NT. Would accept one in a heartbeat.
They've really been getting the word out there about the Super NT, a LOT of retro gaming channels have gotten review units. Seems like a very high quality item and the price is not unreasonable when you consider how much a SNES + Framemeister/OSSC setup would cost you.
I know "Retro Core" did an unboxing video on it (I'm pretty sure he bought his with his own money)
I'm sure that if the 8-bit guy were to review it, he'd probably would have to bring in a newer (small) TV or monitor instead of the Samsung CRT TV he usually uses.
It's not about being nice, it's business. Send products to large RUclipsrs to get some recognition.

Why do I love unboxing vids so much? 8-bit and LGR
I love unboxing vids on lgr
Whatever content you see fit to bring us is fine by me. These unboxing videos are interesting and fun and can be pretty darn informative. Thanks for every video you bring us!
Already? It feels like the first one was just uploaded.
Time sure flies by.
Oh wait 28 days in February...
March? 2018? Already?
Geez, I thought we were in 2011.
March of 2018? I thought it was 2012.
The hell? I could've sworn it was 2007 a day ago.
Really? I thought it was 2009 yesterday.
Your unboxing videos are a special type of zen for me. I’m thankful for your comment at the end of the video!
Too many people spend too much time bitching about stuff. You make your videos your way and we'll watch.
Stop complaining. It's called critique.
Too much time spent addressing the bottom feeders. Why even acknowledge them, is what baffles me? They are the bottom 0.01% and their opinions are not valid.
And apparently he does something the right way, because he has a big audience. Keep your style!
Just wanted to say that I personally love your unboxing videos, so please do not stop them! These donations are valuable to the content we get to see, so I feel it is only right to give thanks to those who generously donate. Thank you David!
Hi David, Netherlands here. You pronounce it as: "Ro-nald Kknor" (The "K" isn't silent). Knor means "Oink" by the way.
He said Roland instead of Ronald.
"Hi David, Netherlands here. You pronounce it as: "Ro-nald Kknor" (The "K" isn't silent). Knor means "Oink" by the way."
That is NOT how I pronounce "Netherlands"... :D
14:25 all content on here is premium content!
can't please everyone, might as well not bother trying to.

Your garage recycling bill must be quite expensive ;)
wait... THE PERFECT MATCH
I dig the unboxing videos, gives me a taste of what's to come. I have sheer amazement people can still find these parts. It's a nice way to give the senders a bit of recognition taboot. :)
I don't know how somebody complains. Your unboxing videos are the only ones I watch
I’m only thirteen years old, but I love your content and have learned so much from you! You are the best RUclipsr that has been on this platform in a while, keep up the good work!
Supreme same here I'm 13 and I love his channel too.
12 year old here! I live on his content!

And im 186 undead, and i love his content too..
Why would anyone complain about the unboxing vids. I love them. Super relaxing and always interestingly presented. Keep up the awesome work 8 Bit guy. 😁👍👍
I can't believe people are complaining about these. I think it's interesting to see the stuff people send you.
Wanted to make this a separate post. I love these unboxing videos more than anything. Plz keep going and thank you!

I always enjoy these 8-Bit Unboxing videos
Ignore the complaints. I find the unboxing videos relaxing and enjoyable.
David, handles complaint very well. He is direct and gets his point across but does so in a polite and respectful manner.
I love the unboxing videos, please don't stop with them.
Frankly, I think the unboxing videos are good to do. It's a great way to show your appreciation for the generous people who send you these things. And, like you said, it hardly takes up any of your time, and it's not like people have to watch them. Keep up the good work, David!
I love the unboxing vids. It's like a teaser for upcoming vids. Forget the haters; some people just like to complain.
Please keep doing unboxing videos, I like them and I think it is a great way to say thank you to all the people who send you stuff.
I never miss these videos.
these unboxing videos are great, I love seeing what interesting things you get sent and how few of them I recognise.
I generally HATE unboxing videos, but these are fun for a couple of reasons. Awesome! Don't mind those people complaining about your unboxing videos.. I love them! Keep going with your good work! Greetings from Brazil.
I enjoy these. 1. It's nice to see the old collectibles people send 2. its nice to see you thank everyone for their contributions
Ehi! I love your unboxing videos! Dont' worry about people complaining. I'm always amazed by those boxes! The idea that one guy is still programming games for the Vic20 or that existed doublesided cartridges or that existed huuuuge floppy disk like that! Amazing!
Hey Dave, I love the unboxing videos. It's like a small tribute to the fans who are able to donate to your cause! Keep them coming!
Ignore the complaints! I like these unboxing videos!
Your unboxing videos take me down memory lane and thus are premium content.
All i have to say is...... I enjoy these unboxing videos. Watch the new one every month and sometimes go back a re-watch some of them. :)
I love that you always take a second to leave the note onscreen!
I am great full for everything you produce us. I really do like the unboxing videos. :)
I like these mail shows. It’s a nice way to see accessories or systems that you don’t show in other videos or would take a long time to see in lots of other videos. Keep up the great work.
don't stop the unboxings!

I can't talk for others but I love your unboxing videos. Pls don't stop doing them
I love these unboxing videos. They are like a preview for what content might be coming to this channel.
You can never make everyone happy all of the time. Don't worry about the whiners and keep doing what you do.
Keep doing the unboxing videos - it's great to see the variety of stuff that's still around from the 80s.
Don't stop making the unboxing videos. I love them! Thank you, David.
DO NOT stop doing unboxings as they are a treat to watch. Keep it up. Will you ever sell dvd's or better yet a VHS of your content? :)
Don't stop the Unboxing Videos. They are some of my favorites
Nice video David! Thanks for sharing it with us.😎👍JP
It’s not only bonus content, by showing them you also show appreciation to the people who send these gifts. They are waiting in vain for you to unwrap what they have send. And you are receiving some really cool stuff.
Dang! You got hooked up with that A600! Nice!!!
holy shit you said that like 3 times
Seriously some people complain about your unboxing videos?
I LOVE THEM because it's really fun to see what kinds of techie stuff people send you, especially the obscure old tech...
So... You put up a video exactly at 0:00?
He probably uploaded it first as a private video, then scheduled RUclips to post it at that time.
Not every RUclips user gets that feature though, but I did end up getting it on my alternate account as a side effect of receiving a copyright strike there.
ok I just watched the end of this video, please never stop making these unboxing videos!! they are the heart and soul of this channel!!
Seems the extra top cover for some reason , has the replacement of "ibm pc jr" sticker for the missing one from the keyboard ...
I actually thought about that shortly after I made the replacement.. but I might have bent that one getting it off. who knows.
Johnny
I like the unboxing videos. they are fun.
Thanks~
Why do people complain about th unboxing videos? I think that they're awesome.
I normally hate unboxing videos, but with your channel they are more like previews of future videos.
8 bit guy 4 life
Please keep doing the unboxing as it is a way to appreciate your supporters and you always have so nice stuffs and things to show.
I just saw Sam's Journey live last Saturday on a C64 and it rocks so I am really looking forward to your review.
I totally love your work and your channel so I do appreciate your unboxing videos. Not to mention the donations provide input for future videos.
I love the unboxing videos. Ignore the haters :)
Please keep making these unboxing videos. I find them exciting to watch and they are a nice thank you to the people that send you all this stuff.
I love these videos! Screw the haters.
I couldn't imagine these videos taking long to produce. They seem pretty straight forward. I also enjoy them, so keep them coming if you enjoy them too.
As always very interesting stuff you've been sent. Thanks for the video!
congrats
Don't listen to too many of people's complaints. You can't make everyone happy so keep doing what you like to do!
I need to start a channel so people will send me Amigas.
nblsavage yeah too right that's what I was thinking who the hell would give that away!
LOL
Yep! That A600 looked nice!
Yep! That A600 looked nice!
I actually had to _pay_ for the Amiga 500 I had back in the day. :P
I like these videos because you sometimes see things that you didn't know exist, like that double sided cartridge. Screw the haters, keep making them.
