I like how the 8-Bit Guy deals with mostly retro computers ('70-'80), LGR deals with newer old computers ('80-'90) and older games, and Techmoan deals with older video/audio formats and dashcams. All different things but each does there thing so well!
the c64 book with the white binder, was the one i got with my c64 1985 christmas day! lol, with 3 games, collosal adventure, purple turtles and i think one of the 1.99 games, bmx racer, boy was i excited! i had been looking at the c64 in dixons all year doing, and writing basic and rude words on the screen and leaving it run, lol
To fix the hole in the case, use a hole saw to cut out a similar sized piece of plastic from something disposable. That way you can fill the majority of the hole easy. Epoxy it in from the underside. Bondo or plastic fill for the top surface should give you a flush surface, then a little spray paint and you'll have to look really close to see it.
2:25 This is why I love this guy. He's so smart, yet so humble and down-to-earth. Keep being you man, I've been with you since you were at 100k subs and I hope to be with you till a million and beyond. Talent and creativity is always recognized, so don't let anyone get you down!
9:51 isn't it funny how those cartriges look a bit like floppy disks,in term of the design, you know, because they seem to have a similar design when it comes to that metal part, while on the floppy that part is made of metal, here on the cartrige it's just scoulped, yet it so cute to see...that was just me nit picking for fun.
No, indigo is blue. It's the colour in a rainbow that most people would call "blue", but for some reason the "blue" in rainbows is actually cyan. Indigo dye, from the plant, is blue. #0000FF pretty much. It's really not purple.
Awesome! You're forgiven since you're definitely NOT lazy, you're one heck of a creative dude! :) Thanks for all the content and can't wait to see what's next.
Still have a Lightscribe (Print Un-impressive disk label/design with a laser inside the drive) capable DVD burner from 2010, came with the HP Prebuilt Desktop tower but never used that feature, today its just been reuse as a DVD reader in my Storage Server as may main desktop does not have a 5.25 bay...
Dexter I remembered there was 2 system, one with gold/brown disks and one with blue disks, I had a notebook with the blue disks, its worked but you needed a lot of patience! I remember there was some words about color printing system but I asume all the disk system died long before it was ready and relevant.
I had one but it broke and they exchanged it to a new for warranty and I only later realized that it was not Lightscribe. Well I never used the function anyway.
The price of blank lightscribe disks has gone up quite a bit. They used to cost about 50 cents. When I last bought some they were about $1.80. I think this is because HP dropped support of the system. Too bad it was a great way to label disks.
1:30 - "Looks like a Packard Bell with all the branding removed". Close, it's a Compaq ProLinea 5100. I spent the best parts of my childhood upgrading that machine before selling it on. Even the monitor is the same as the one bundled with my machine...
I have many happy memories of playing the Odyssey 2, especially Quest for the Rings, which had a cool overlay for the keyboard. Looking forward to your future video on it and the original Odyssey!
Well, in that case, while you are researching, you should look at Philips Videopac as it seems to be the same system. Philips Videopac was the European version of this system. As far as I remember, it seems to be more of a console than a home computer, even though it had a keyboard. I could be mistaken though, as I didn't have much contact with these cool looking machines aside from a demo model in a nearby store.
There must be some reason for that ugly fan and I wonder what. Was the computer overheating? If so, why? If it wasn't designed with a fan it shouldn't have overheating problems.
The original Apple II ran quite warm. If it was full of add-on cards even more so. Kensington's first ever product, in fact, was a fan that would attach to the vent slots on the left side called a "System Saver". The system saver came out before the "Darth Vader" II did though; too bad whoever modified this computer didn't learn about it first!
Not entirely true. It's a French attempt at a Native American word, so it would properly be pronounced il-i-noy or il-i-nwa. (All others are just pretending to be correct.)
1:30 That's not Packard Bell, that's Compaq Prolinea 5xxx. I have one right next to me. It should have red COMPAQ logo on the left side but they removed it.
I was on a forum where the receiver said he acquired a rifle packed in used kitty litter. The sender said that was how he disposed of it for many years.... Like, ewww!
November Unboxing: "Oh look, another TRS model 4! And this one is the portable one! This is the 8th one this month. I guess I should mention that the portable has a better picture, since the resolution is the same bit the screen is smaller? Still thanks!"
HOLY CRAP! We had a dead TRS-80 Model 1 in the computer lab at my high school (more or less for decoration), and I always wanted to revive it and play with it. Very much looking forward to a video on that!
he was just pointing out that they were hard to pronounce especially the ones from over seas. I was fully banking on him mispronouncing my name but he actually got it right.
He was just kidding around, you know... bringing some life, character, and humor into his video. This guy is super genuine. I cannot imagine him being anything short of "nicest guy in the world." But maybe you were just kidding with your comment :) Peace

i've been a fan for a long while, and i gotta say it's so endearing to watch you grow SO much over the last year. now you've got fans sending you all these wonderful things that you'll no doubt use to teach us all about our favorite era of tech, and it's so great to see!
Yes! NASCAR 99!! That game brings back so many memories. It was literally one of the only games I would play back in the day, I’ve since graduated to the Forza Motorsport/Horizon series of games. If you have the chance you should give it a go.
There seems to be something wrong with that TRS monitor's circult since there is a dedicated circuit in almost all CRTs to prevent the electron beam focusing on the center of the screen when turning it off, which forms a very light dot in the center of the screen.Without that circuit, the center of the screen will be burnt out after many times of turning off. And that circuit seems not working on that monitor.
I don't know if the TRS monitor has tech to prevent the white dot (usually an electron film in the screen,) but the bright dot is caused by the deflection circuits powering off (the horizontal and vertical scanning circuits stop scanning instantly), but the high voltage circuits that are used to accelerate the beam may stay charged for a few seconds. This bright dot is only momentarily on, but you see it longer because the persistence of the phosphor. That won't burn in a screen.
I need that SID shirt.
Well, you know where to find one!
SMELL THAT CHEESE!!!
I want one so bad!
It'd be nice of you review those odissey together!

I thought the cat was going to turn that package into a litter box.
After dropping the cat in that box, the cat will use his bed as a litter tray. REVENGE!
My brother said the same thing out loud when he watched with me. :)
mew
USWaterRockets I thought the cat will sick in and drown
Pro trick: watch movies on Flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies these days.
Love that warning label on the TRS-80 box.
Do not drop or CRT might implode!
maybe you're getting so much odyssey stuff because super mario odyssey just came out
LOL
What a coincidence!
Jack_Cydia extra points for using the proper term. RUclips is preventing me from giving you all the likes but you deserve them.
Is the new Mario a good game???
John Paul Gabriel Zuluaga It is *really* good! If you have a Switch, get it! Heck, if you don't have a Switch, get a Switch! ;)

Add in Big Clive, and you've got my tech quartet.
I watch all those mentioned and Big Clive :)
Haha, and you got Druaga1 installing SSDs in everything he can get his hands on, and Danooct1 who deals in DOS, WIN9x and sometimes Win32 viruses
and Phil's Computer Lab with retro PC gaming
Then RandomGamingInHD and BudgetBuildsOfficial for budget graphics cards (usually old ones)
Clint must have been a cat in a previous life.
All those Commodore manuals...

Jusb1066 Got my 64 in '85 as well.
Good memories, I had BMX racer too. Nice!
The modern equivalent is leaving tablets tuned into Veronica Moser videos in PC World.
It makes me happy when AvE leaks out in to the rest of the world. Squints at the ready.
Enage safety squints? Man, AvE is everywhere... rightfully so too.
treat especialle!
AvE's a Skukum choocher, all right!

Seeing the cat in the packing peanuts made my day, my cat that I have had for 14 years died today, but the cat in the video made me smile. :)
MicahTheManiac sorry to hear that buddy. Glad something managed to help you out.
so sad to hear that
Sad to hear. My little kitten (2/3~ months) got hit by car today..
R.I.P 14year cat/2/3 month kitten. My 18 year old cat died last week. R.I.P Sweet felines! :I

that indigo pcb board that came with the built it yourself kit looks beautiful
Plus one! Also, that Panasonic word processor keyboard was slick!
One of the most beautiful colors I've ever seen, really!
Indigo is blue. The board is purple, probably from OSHPark.
greenaum indigo is blue and purple, somewhat. it's closer to purple though
No, indigo is blue. It's the colour in a rainbow that most people would call "blue", but for some reason the "blue" in rainbows is actually cyan.
Indigo dye, from the plant, is blue. #0000FF pretty much. It's really not purple.
Hi David, The Lambda 8300 is a near Sinclair ZX81 Compatible / Clone made in Hong Kong. For full ZX81 comparability the ROM can be replaced.
But the Lambda got some cool extra characters in the character set! :)
Awesome! You're forgiven since you're definitely NOT lazy, you're one heck of a creative dude! :) Thanks for all the content and can't wait to see what's next.
i cant wait for the og odyssey and og apple computer videos

Oh yeah? I have an HD-DVD Lightscribe drive! I even have one movie on HD-DVD somewhere. All of these things were a disappointment... :(
Polo Gamero when i tried it last time with a blue disk sure it worked, but....the result of the “print” was disapointing...
I had one but it broke and they exchanged it to a new for warranty and I only later realized that it was not Lightscribe. Well I never used the function anyway.

*ALL YOU HAD TO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN COMMODORE 64 CJ*
Austism yeah
Was I the only person that could and still can complete that mission first go?
@@terrykennedy7422 Nope, I completed that mission in 2 attempts when I originally played it and then in 1 attempt on PC around a year ago!
3:15 "A nice addition to my collection."

Me too. I'm not sure if either of them work yet. And I'm going to need to do a ton of research on these consoles.
A LOT of research. Not a ton.
Super Mario Odyssey

The cat scene made me laugh too frigging hard. Anyway, GREAT job as always! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!
Haha, You should send the box of packing peanuts to LGR!
He did send a box of peanuts to LGR. Real peanuts.
That Odyssey 2 box was basically ruined by shipping it like that :/
had to scroll through 100 cat comments b4 I found someone finally mentioning this. RIP Odyssey box
Bruh, I thought you were Pat the NES Punk for a second there and you got me all excited.

Obviously it was a happy one.
Kaymai happy late birthday last year an everythingapplepro video was made on my bday
David
I think that you REALLY
need a discord server now
There must be some reason for that ugly fan and I wonder what. Was the computer overheating? If so, why? If it wasn't designed with a fan it shouldn't have overheating problems.
Poki#3 I wonder if it was operating in a very hot room or one with very poor air circulation.
Looks like lots of additions to that machine and with no room inside the case for the fan either.
Thank you 8-box guy
Colonel Graff its the 8 bit guy not the 8 box guy

I being from illinois die inside when people say the s its pronounced ill-i-noy
As I just posted, It's like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.
It is dood
I am from Indiana, so Illinoisssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
Nmos100 Well unfortunately that's more of an accent / dialect thing than the actual mispronunciation of ill-en-oy ;)
Not entirely true. It's a French attempt at a Native American word, so it would properly be pronounced il-i-noy or il-i-nwa. (All others are just pretending to be correct.)
That TRS-80 is camera shy.
1:30 That's not Packard Bell, that's Compaq Prolinea 5xxx. I have one right next to me. It should have red COMPAQ logo on the left side but they removed it.
pvc he said "it looks like a packard bell"
I loved the cat interlude. You need to bring in your co star more often.
4:59: Meow. Serious LOL!! Macie is 9?
I was on a forum where the receiver said he acquired a rifle packed in used kitty litter. The sender said that was how he disposed of it for many years.... Like, ewww!
lol indeed
Could be a furry.
My local thrift store has a good 10 or so of various old word processes. They keep trying to off load them onto me for $5 each lol.
November Unboxing: "Oh look, another TRS model 4! And this one is the portable one! This is the 8th one this month. I guess I should mention that the portable has a better picture, since the resolution is the same bit the screen is smaller? Still thanks!"
It would be nice to give the jacket to the Salvation Army to help the Vets rather than the CEO of Goodwill.
8:28 skookum shirt
HOLY CRAP! We had a dead TRS-80 Model 1 in the computer lab at my high school (more or less for decoration), and I always wanted to revive it and play with it. Very much looking forward to a video on that!
WHOA!!!! THE VADER APPLE II!!!!!! Really looking forward to that video.
Wow..... I live about an hour from Springfield.... I'm really surprised to see a name I don't know from I town so close in a RUclips video... wow...
4:56 meow 🐱
The Odyssey 2 was my first computer 😀. I remember Demon Attack and Pick Axe Pete 😀. Both awesome games 😀.
I love that one of the donations came from someone wearing an AvE shirt. I'm surprised that there is much crossover in your fanbase and his.
Cool stuff! That Odyssey is one innovative machine. :)
I'm only 10 and I know about this stuff from the 80's . Before my time.
my love for tech started with finding a bunch of old cosoles/gb game in my grandma's house. I love old/new tech!!!!!
Luke S im only 8 and i know this
The fuck did I just start lmao
Says limited education
Makes a RUclips channel about tech
LOGIC
I wish people would send me computers from the 80’s. The only one I’ve got is an ibm 5150
Well, that's a nice one, still!
But not useful for much today.
all I've got is a Macintosh plus and classic and they both don't work lewl
Ben Abbott if you need any spare parts plz let me know
Lennon Craig yes it does. It’s a Mac classic and it fully functions, but it doesn’t have a HD’s or floppy
That is Basic 2000! My very first computer. Apparently, it has many names like Lambda 8300. As I much much later found out, it was ZX-81 clone.
Liked for the cat part
You got DuckTales for the NES? That's the best game of all the games! Cuz the music.
2:20 Really complaining about peoples names who send you free stuff, come on!
he was just pointing out that they were hard to pronounce especially the ones from over seas.
Oh cool, a Lambda computer. That was the first computer I and my big brother got when we were kids. I don't recall much of it, as I was around 5, but I do recall that it didn't come with any games. You had to program them yourself from a basic book that was provided. The only game I have a recollection of was some sort of a racing game.
It's a ZX-81 clone, if you were wondering. There's a link whit some details about it: www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=1168
You like to always point out something negative when ever you can, so annoying!
Like for Spyderco Tenacious
An episode on the ZX-81 would be cool! I'm only 20, but that's the first computer I ever programmed on because my dad had one and thought I might enjoy it! Now I'm majoring in Computer Science at Penn State, so that computer really means a lot to me
I see why you call October "Odyssey Month" because Super Mario Odyssey was released last Friday.
I'm watch this while sitting in the current Bell & Howell office. I would love a Darth Vader Apple II. Originally these were used for early document processing and industrial automation tasks, so they would live in some pretty harsh factory conditions.
That PC Russell Miller sent you is a Lambda 8300 Computer which is a Sinclair clone.
David, you can't test all of this.
You know that your time on earth is limited ?
Sup-R-Mod was the king of RF modulators, back in the day, if you had no monitor and needed to use your TV as your monitor in a pinch!
That section with Pigbunny was HILARIOUS!
The PC on the Pilot box is a Compaq Prolinea.
Super Mario odyssey: 27th Oct
Odyssey 2 in this video
That was quick nintendo
Do note, the "s" in illinois is silent, other then that you pronounced it correctly
(Sorry if this comes off a bit harsh, I'm just trying to say this as nicely as possible)
An a Oddissey complete
And this Apple in the final is good challenge for restoring
please do a video on modding the oddesy 2 with ports do you can take the controllers in and out or try
3:42 I thought that was a microwave.
I saw the thumbnail in a short glance and thought he was reviewing a microwave 😂
If I remembered they rereleased ducktails with new graphics
That PCB had the coolest purple-ish color I have ever seen that was cool lol
Look at all the Treats you got :-)
9:02 the logo was blurred, so I thought it looked like Fortnite. For a minute i thought, Wait! thats too new to be on there! The logo style is the same
i've been a fan for a long while, and i gotta say it's so endearing to watch you grow SO much over the last year. now you've got fans sending you all these wonderful things that you'll no doubt use to teach us all about our favorite era of tech, and it's so great to see!
12:36 Also thats a fan. Guess his kept overheating?
U pronounced Illinois wrong u do not pronounce the s
But kudos for pronouncing ZX-81 correctly ("zed" not "zee")
Hey, my prediction was right! You did get an e-Reader!
Seeing what happened to that Apple ii is depressing.
To be honest the Mos logo kinda looks like it should say Moe. Simpsons anyone?
Please do the restoration vide of the Bell&Howell Apple II.
5:24 You did NOT just say Illi-noise.... ugh
heey I'm from san jose california too!😀😀😀
It took 1.5 years to do videos on the word processors, but nice to see that video.
i want one of those DIY computer kits
lol, some of these guys are definitely pulling your leg with those names.
I hope LGR picks up that coat in his next thrifts episode
2017: The Odyssey...Odyssey. MAXIMUM HYPE. P.S: I would love to do a video for Planet X-2 if it works with VICE.
Yes! NASCAR 99!! That game brings back so many memories. It was literally one of the only games I would play back in the day, I’ve since graduated to the Forza Motorsport/Horizon series of games. If you have the chance you should give it a go.

at 1:03 you can see many some stamps that are actually semi-rare
Holy crap, the purple solder mask on that DIY computer PCB is gorgeous!
Lewis Scott
VERY common colour for boards from OSH Park. ;)
(maybe the purple dye is cheaper, as a mix of other colours?)
he really can't hide his own nerdgasm
we need more cat videos david that was so wholesome
You have a cute cat. More cat content required.
Isn’t it pronounced “Illinoi”?
