I've literally bought games because they were leaving game pass. And yes I've bought games because they have deals on game pass and I wanna support that game eventhough I'm still getting it for free.
I ended up buying dead by daylight because it was on Game pass, even though it ever even left Game pass. I've also bought microtransactions on that game that I never would have unless it was on Game pass
If Battlefield 6 is on Gamepass, it may actually have a chance of competing with Call of Duty.

Outriders network is terrible, agreed. I played the campaign to completion before I got “join random group” to work. That’s a square Enix problem. But it gets the Gamepass pass. If I paid full price I’d be put off. Since it just showed up in the service. I didn’t really care.
The key is this. If Kojima works with Microsoft, he has a great experience and gets to make what he wants; he will talk to other studios. They will warm up to Xbox. Especially when they want to make smaller games, and Microsoft says whatever, make what you want, love, and enjoy.

Years ago I was asked to fill in a long survey from Xbox, it was all about Steam basically, how much do you spend? Do you use sales? How's your backlog?
I remember thinking that this was being looked at while they were working out a new model for games sales. I was kinda doubting it, but it looked like they were gonna give me loads of games for less money....they've been working this out a long time. I kind thought it wouldn't happen, but here we are.

Very funny hearing Rand talk about David Jaffe, saying that Jaffe says he knows Sony is working on a GP competitor. I watch Jaffe all the time, and yes he does have contacts presently still working for Sony, But when he says Sony has a GP competitor, he means more like "I am sure Sony is working on their answer to GP". He has admitted plenty of times that he is just speculating with a lot of education behind his guess that make it feel very true. Context is everything, Rand saw the Jaffe quote without hearing the whole podcast haha.
I had the ultimate avengers edition preordered. And then they gave ps4 Spider-Man and Xbox got nothing so I felt why pay same price for a game for an inferior version. Spider-Man had his own story section. So I never picked up my copy of the game and eventually got a refund

I truly feel like with this extended length to the console shortage, that everyone has completely forgotten that you can actually buy a Series S WITH Game Pass.... for $25 a month!! or $35 a month for a Series X WITH Game Pass!!! That is how Xbox is going to help convert Sony users or at least get them to have both systems. This is such a bigger deal than it has been talked about since launch... all because this damn console shortage

Really good podcast. Enjoy how you and Jez interact and have some many industry insights.
With all of the right steps Microsoft is making so early in this gen and that the Series X/S are just getting started showing off their RDNA2 features, Sony is feeling the heat of observing all of this.
As we know Sony came into this gen as the market leader with an excellent stable of first party games (God of War was fantastic!). Sony will take a wait and see approach, but the longer they wait the harder it will become to recover. If Sony is just going after blockbusters this gen, they will limit their future growth by just pushing independent game devs aside.

It's all upside for Nintendo. It makes their platform way more viable and will drive hardware sales as an ultimate xcloud machine that is cheaper and more functional than a phone/pad. They'll get a nice cut of subs and they'll still sell their Nintendo exclusives... and maybe (as mentioned) it will drive 3rd party sales. Absolute no-brainer.
Nintendo extricating themselves from the main console war and going in a different direction is really going to pay off, they can live side by side with Xbox. Playstation OTOH...
I bought Outriders and I have gamepass. I also bought all the Forza horizon 4 DLC because I got the game free. I think many people just want to thank the dwvs for the great value.
If Game Pass became "curated" and deleted dozens of games in order to shell out their big internal AAA games, if it were on Switch or Steam or whatever, it would be a bad idea. I don't want to have a watered down Game Pass for the same price, because that is explicitly losing something important. There is nothing Steam can offer that would balance that out, so it is pointless. Adding Game Pass to Nintendo Switch Online through xCloud would be amazing, but not if it is just a handful of games where my phone would play way more. The idea of selecting only the big internal games on Game Pass would just make me not want to play on those services, and it would only benefit those competing platforms where they would probably take 30% of microtransactions.
I went 6 years on xb1 across 3 consoles and finally got a full hardware failure. 1X giving no signal, likely bad hdd. Very sad 😞
I think its because people take advantage of the GP discount and people will buy games they like.

It's an easy game to knock out to promote the TV series, simple as that. Heck it wouldn't surprise me if the original character models are changed to match the TV series.
I wonder if they will have the lead Developers on the id Tech. Engine come over to 343 to take a look at and give advice for the SlipSpace Engine?

Can confirm that 120Hz does not work on my 144hz 1440p Monitor unless I set the res to 1080p in the Xbox settings. My monitor can also accept 4K input and I'm limited to 60hz there too. Would love to see that fixed.
I'd also love to see them use any wireless headset that works with Windows. No reason in the world they couldn't do that. My Logitech G933's for example, it's just a USB dongle, works on PC and works on PS4. Should be able to work on the Windows based Xbox OS.
@Console Gaming Yep, you're right, I assumed that because it works on my PC it should work on my console. Didn't think about the fact my PC is using the Display Port. Moving it to HDMI it maxes out at 100Hz. Thanks 👍
EDIT: Not really a display guy, do you think if I had an HDMI to Display Port adaptor it would work?
@Console Gaming Thanks, I'll look into it. It's DP 1.4, which is 4K 120Hz by spec (looked it up) and I just tested with my PC and it works at that spec as the monitor allows 4K input.
I think the hard part for me would be finding an adaptor that supports HDMI to DP @ 4K 120hz. I'll see what I can find but I'm not going to hold my breath hehe... Cheers man.
@Console Gaming I thought about that too as to whether or not the Xbox would recognize it, I figured it'd be worth a try anyway, but sadly it seems no such converter exists at the moment. Since you need an active converter to go from HDMI to Display Port, the only ones I could find only support 4K at 30hz. So no luck hehe... all good though, I'm not too concerned about it at the moment. I'll just have to wait hehe...

Is anyone else having problems with making a poster replying to a post when looking for a group on the Xbox system I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I have an Xbox One x I've contacted multiple times Xbox support essentially they never could figure what the problem was please help if anyone knows what the problem is or has an idea.

Why mess with a 10/10 game? So you can make it more like the 3/10 TLOU2 trash and force there politics on fans of the original game. As a bonus they will charge you an additional $70 to see how bad they can make it.

Is there anyone that owns a Samsung Q70A 4K Qled 55 inch tv? I want to know if this TV can play next gen games in 4K at 120 Hz, or at least in 1440 at 120 Hz. Some people say this TV cant do 120 Hz, but its supposed to have an HDMI 2.1 also. If anyone has this TV and can verify that this TV can play games at 120 fps, please let me know.. thanks

Outriders is not a triple a game its okay but people lile you are hyping it up way to much, if it wasnt on gamepass you know for a fact you wouldn't be talking about it
I'm enjoying Outriders, but if I'd have bought it for full price I'd certainly be pissed. Games Pass certainly does give me "rose tinted glasses" when I play buggy games, it makes me more forgiving.

@@idiotguru1511 I'm glad u liked them. Gears 4 was good but not enough of Marcus for me. Gears 5 I hated the story, the Gears series isn't Gears really anymore . Doesn't have the same vibe for me. I cared for the characters, story was action packed, the online was great in the original gears games. Gears 4 and 5 I don't like characters, story , online , the way u have to potential hurt Marcus at the end of Gears 5 was not cool for me.

Loved Metal Gear Solid 5 (and others). Went back to try Metal Gear Solid Rising Revengence and it was one of the worst games I ever played. I think it may be a bit clouded in nostalgia. I gladly sold my copy to EbGames for 10 cents.,..
