    Seeing you were in Tillamook I reckon you caught that fish on the Wilson. I’ve been bank fishing there for 4 days straight and just can’t get me a fish. Any tips/ spots recommended would be much appreciated. Just wanna get my first one of the year haha.

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  4 года назад +1

      SnizzlesYT - You are correct. And I feel your pain. I’ve spent many days empty handed on that river. I feel like I got pretty lucky the other day considering how low and clear the water is. Which is still the problem right now. There are plenty of fish in there you just wouldn’t know it when you can see into the water so we’ll. The fish aren’t going to want to be too exposed, so I’d be targeting the heads and tail outs of any deeper holes. Mine was right in the middle of the river where it was deepest, riffles in the water will still give a fish some cover, pretty sure that was the case with my fish. I have been wanting to head back that way but that water is so low now. If you aren’t dead set on taking a fish home try the kilchis. It’s mainly natives but it’s another good area to potentially get a fish on. I’m not sure how the trask is doing this season. I hope some of that helps

    I fish the nestuca almost every weekend with exceptional luck, usually about 10 miles up river from the mouth. Everything from steelhead, cutthroat, salmon, trout, and I'm guna say rooster tale is all you need. Just dont bring a trout rod when your going for steelhead.

      Geoff Murphy - it’s been a while since I’ve fished the nestucca, I love that river. I didn’t know much back then and it’d be nice to go fish it again. Honestly I’ve never used rooster tails for anything but trout, but I could see how the steelhead would want to smash them too. Thanks for the insight and good luck out there

      Milo Wood - I may get back out in another couple days. I’m hoping we get a bit more rain. I don’t really fish weekends all too often. There are still a lot of people looking for their first fish. They aren’t easy to catch and there are more people fishing than fish that return to each river... usually. Keep trying. Nobody should want to fish with me 9/10 I’m bad luck haha

      Milo Wood - this time of the season, I’d only fish that low if they just recycled some fish or if the rivers were higher. Guys are limiting put up way higher closer to the hatchery. Most of these fish come in and blast their way to the hatchery. They don’t do a whole lot of hanging out. Which is why they can be harder to catch

    Yo dude do u use a bumper or u tie ur braid straight to ur weight/swivel? I’ve done both lost a lot of gear usin 12lb bumper it always snaps off at my inline

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  5 лет назад +2

      Christian Pervier - I will do both, and you definitely aren’t the first one to say you’ve lost a lot of gear that way. This set up had no bumper, just braid to the in-line weight to 12lb fluorocarbon. Honestly I’ve seen no difference in my catch rate between the two different options. It makes sense why a bumper would possibly improve your catch rate but it’s definitely not a necessity to catch fish, especially if you are losing any gear. I’d just go with what you feel comfortable with. My thought was that the water was shallow enough that the line under water would all be fluorocarbon and not visible. If the water were twice as deep I’d have to adjust my bobber stop far enough up the braided line to where there would be braided line in the water column. I wouldn’t want that, especially with steelhead.... salmon, I’m not so worried about.

There are so many factors going into flavor that it just takes one tiny thing for the tastebuds to disapprove of. I gotta say I am starting to like whatever it was I didn’t like so much of before... weird how tastebuds can change as well in time

    That’s weird that you prefer salmon id have to disagree. A nice summer steelhead or even a winter fish is hard to beat. You said steelhead is usually fishy? It’s salmon that tastes fishy in my experience. Steelhead just tastes like really fatty trout what’s not to like. Winter fish aren’t as good but still nice meat.

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  5 лет назад +2

      Ricky Simmonds - I don’t know if “weird” would be the best wording considering everyone has their own preferences and taste buds. It’s quite normal for everyone to not like the same things, but I get what you are saying. That’s your opinion and preference, and I’m sure not everyone agrees. AnglingAddictsPNW No it really is weird don’t take offense not saying that in a bad way it’s just funny because everyone says that steelhead is more mild and less fishy which has always been my experience so that’s weird haha. Lots of people that don’t like salmon because of the fishiness actually enjoy steelhead, me being one, unless we talkin sprangers of course.

      Ricky Simmonds haha no worries you can’t offend me man. I think it’s weird that you think it’s weird that I think steelhead tastes fishy.
