A rule of thumb when using these mics with a DSLR/mirrorless camera is to gain stage the camera by keeping the camera volume as low as possible and the mic gains high. The camera's main function is not audio. This way the wireless mics can utilize their full potential. Also, turn off Bluetooth as these low 2.4Ghz devices have a tendency to perform audio dropouts.
Thank you for the tips. I haven't used it with my mirrorless yet other than testing and the camera really needed to have it's input turned down to not overload whereas the phone (as used this in this video) wasn't as sensitive.
I used this advice on my most recent video Cat Chat 11 as it was my first time using the mirrorless for a video. Lowered camera gain and maxed the mix (I was speaking softly as it was night time) and got a pretty hot recording that I am good with. Will probably keep the camera similarly low and take one notch off the mic if I plan to speak louder. Seemed to work well.
@@MichaelSheldrake Thanks for the replies. Useful info in them. It's not clear as to what cable works with what. Until I can afford the Sony wireless I'm keeping this. I'm not sure if you're running a PC or Mac but in a PC i need to go into the Windows system settings that show all mics etc. It's a small pop-up graphic on PC. On the Windows taskbar where the search field is hit system sounds
The unit is capable of recording in mono, stereo, and Ms mode. Ms is short for Mid-Side, where the right channel is 6dB lower than the left channel. One reason for this is if there is clipping, distortion, or something happens the right channel has a pad so when editing maybe you can do something with the -6dB audio to save your recording. Great review video! Keep up the good work.
Thanks! I'm not a reviewer, but I do videos and felt like giving it a try. Appreciate the feedback. Ms offers a fail safe for recording conditions. Probably good if you were going to say record a performance or something with peaks.
Thanks. I have a Fulaim X (exactly the same). Best sound when closest to my mouth (as you demonstrated). The base is a bit thin so I make an EQ adjustment in Lumafusion. PS you may be a cat man (we have 7) but your mic review is much better than most audiophile reviewers!!!
Thank you kindly for this. I wanted to give it a really simple and real world look at it in a way I would want to consume myself. Glad you got something from it.
Hey thanks! I thought I'd do a video about this new gift I got. I know it's not cats, but I think if people are googling this thing this video might help.
Hi, just FYI they may have misinformed you. On the receiver it's an audio out, but on the two transmitters there's a microphone input on top. If you download the cm28 manual from neewer's site it's at the top right of the PDF and labeled with a 1. Enjoy!
I love these mics, however I am recording in stereo and the audio is only playing on one side. Should I switch to mono or do I have to use both mics to get stereo?
The idea is if you are recording two people each with a mic, you record in stereo so you have access to each persons mic separately on your camera clip. So in editing the camera clip you can make separate adjustments to each. One person might be louder or softer. If just using one mic you should be in mono.

That was great, Michael, and the sound is good from the new Mic setup. 🥰
Hopefully you'll enjoy it if you listen to cat chats as I'll use this one from now on

Hi! Do you know how to record stereo using one microphone? Now each of them record mono, left and right side. I a recording on iPhone
@@manfriend2009 One mic only will get you mono. You can edit it in a DAW and stereoize it after that if needed.

Wow I got first view got me lol. Wireless mics are a good thing nice gift
Nice. Way to be in early, Mike!
Great Video Michael!! I like your cat shirt!! Pretty Cool👍🏻

Wow glad you like, Michael!
Yes it's pretty cool so I decided to do a little video on it.
Note - The magnet is for mounting the mic to your shirt, but the mic is supposed to go outside your shirt.
You can go inside to hide it. Works well unless you're wearing a soundproof shirt. Makes it inconspicuous.
Hi, you say: the top input is for a wired lavalier mic. But that's not the case: it's an audio out port! (just contacted Neewer about this)

Need to use both as each mic is mono though I'll admit I never do that

😮 WOW the Mercedes of mics😊
Maybe like a friendly little Honda.
@@MichaelSheldrake haha would trade my ancient ML for a Honda any day!😺
@@BonnieBlair-zm4uu haha fair enough. Honestly I'm over luxury cars. I want something plain and reliable.
@@MichaelSheldrake me too Toyota or Honda for me 😃
How to get into stereo mode?
Yes, how do you put it in stereo mode?
I don't use it, but I read you long press function button
