Very professional video. Thank you. There is one error that not only appears in your description but also on the Amazon display ads as of April 2024. The receiver does NOT have recording capability. Hi Rick thanks for watching. These videos are unscripted generally, so I do make the odd mistake in them, which I usually spot in post. I get what you are saying about combining tracks but for how I use it, I usually find this to be very easy, I just use the automated syncing of the camera audio and two mic tracks together in post in resolve and it works beautifully for me then. I was at the Photography Show in the UK and one of the guys I know was recording it and his mics had loads of interference so they had to swap back to the internal recordings and they were the DJI mics. Recording on the transmitter is a preferred design. It eliminates radio interference and allow you to use the transmitter as a standalone mic with recorder. The only advantage of putting it on the receiver is to save a few bucks and more convenient download.

It's a great bit of kit and yes that noise reduction is incredible, I only ever use it in windy conditions though with the wind shield fitted. In normal conditions it's better to have the one touch noise reduction off I have found. If there is no noise then there is no point in using it and it can clip the audio slightly. Enjoy the mics they are truly awesome.
Hi Chris, no there is no headphone jack on the transmitter only a mic jack but there is an FL gauge on the receiver which is where the audio level is set for your recording. I use these a lot with just the transmitter recording and never had an issue with audio levels. The level indicator on the receiver works well and it also has a safe mode (Ms) where it records the same track twice and in the second recording it's at a lower audio level. I hope that helps a bit.
@@JCBMedia Yes it has both an analogue audio out and headphone socket and interestingly you can also use the USB output also at the same time time so there are three outputs at once from the receiver. I think there is 30% off the CM28 at the moment also.
Hi, you can connect it to a line input or mic input on a speaker or PA system and record on it via the USBC port at the same time and even record directly on the mic while doing all that. It's an awesome little mic set.
Awesome video man! Just ordered mine. If I'm recording with both mics, are they recorded on separate audio tracks? And if not, how would I have them record separately. That way in post I have more creative freedom and room
You will love them. Yes, as they are mono mics, they simply have one mic on the right channel and the other mic on the left. So it's easy to seperate them in post. You can also record directly onto the mics so each track has its own recording then. Incredible mics for the price.
Great! Now how to attach the receiver to the selfie stick safely so I can attach the audio cable to my camera? I have searched the web everywhere and also asked Neewer but as of yet, no one seems to know. There has to be a better solution than masking tape.
Hi, I have a cold shoe socket like this one search for Cold Shoe Mount Adapter Base with 1/4 Inch Screw Mount on Amazon and you can either screw it onto Velcro, or use it on a super clamp or try and get a pole to 1/4 screw adaptor, depends on the selfie stick. Hope that helps a bit.
Hi Rob, I was really surprised how good the reproduction was in varying conditions. They are exceptional value for money and having the ability to add your own Lav mic if you want is brilliant.
Would this be mountable on an action camera with a cage that has a cold shoe mount on the top? The biggest concern would be is since it looks like you have to put it on longways that it could overhang and get into the picture.
Are you looking to mount the mic on the action camera or the receiver? If it's the mic then I am guessing then I am guessing you would also want to use the windshield so i would think that is almost certainly going to show in the video then. The receiver would possibly be ok depending on the cage and the camera of course. Then again you don't have to use the receiver as you can record on the mics internal memeory and pair it in post then.
@@kieranhayesphotography Will be mounting the receiver on it and just pinning the mics eithers on myself or other subjects. I think this will work ok but if for whatever reason it doesn't, then I can just use internal recording.
How does the unedited internal recording sound super crisp here? I've been watching other reviews and the recording's sound almost muffled on those videos. User error on their end perhaps? Either way, thanks for this review!
Now that's a very good question, I can only assume they had the one touch noise reduction switched on, when there is noise in the audio that's amazing but when there is no background noise it simply shouldn't be used. I have used these mics a lot and they have always delivered quality results, I also know a lot of people that have bought them and found the audio quality to be great out of them. I have found in clean audio setting if you use one touch noise reduction it just tries to eliminate noise that isn't there and that usually means high frequencies so that could very well explain the muffled sound that others have found. Thanks for watching and for the great question.
@@kieranhayesphotography Understood! Thanks for clarifying that. Have you tried testing wired lav mics on these, as well? I'm curious about the sound quality when doing that.
What about setting db levels? Recording in stereo or mono? Should the external microphone on the camera be turned off? Recording level on my Sony ZV 1 goes up to 30. Where should I set that? The manual that came with the Neewer isn't much help at all and I'm not tech savy lol.
Hi Kevin, now that's a very good question and there is also a very good reason why I didn't put that in the video. For db levels it all depends on where the mic is placed and the volume of the sound you are recording. For normal speech levels I have the db level set to roughly around 3/4 volume but it depends on the volume I am speaking at and the ambient noise around me. The input volume you set the camera at depends on the camera but if you have a sound level meter on camera I would say talk normally and check how high the audio peaks at around 3/4 is roughly around ok. Ideally you should be below -6db and not go lower than -12db. Now if that sounds complicated then you can always just record the audio on the transmitter itself and later on when you are editing the footage pop the sound back over the camera audio. What's handy about that is you get a failsafe bit of audio also as you have two copies then. Recording in stereo or mono is entirely up to you and it depends on what you are recording, for ambient room noise or say you go to a waterfall stereo is going to give the footage more of a feeling of width and space if the two mics are postioned well apart. Where I use stereo mode is I am recording an interview. One mic records one person and the second mic the other and they are both on one recording then. To change recording modes simply hold down the db button on the receiver for two seconds and it will move to the next mode. You have Mono Stereo and Ms mode. Ms mode records the same track but at two different audio levels so if you get the levels too high it will give you a lower one then too which should be ok then. Hope that helps and I should have mentioned you can easily edit the audio and video in Davinci Resolve which is a completely free top class editing program. The studio version is a paid option but the free version does nearly everything you could need.
The buggers have a 30% sale on the site at the moment. Can't use your discount code at the same time 😢😢 these look good though and I just bought the action 4
Well you get even more money off so then in the sale. They are an absolute bargain for that price. With the action 3 I just synced the audio in post then. It took no time at all but the sound quality is soooo much better.
@kieranhayesphotography ye but I want 51% off them 🤣🤣🤣 they sound excellent in your video now. I have no major use for them at the moment but compared to the money the other brands cost its a no brainer to have them for down the line when I plan to do some video stuff with the action 4
@@andrewyeates7717 Ah sure we all love a bargain do not we 😂 In fairness I really wasn't expecting them to work in those conditions. It was blowing a gale when I filmed that and I totally thought I was wasting my time 😂 Even in normal conditions the sound quality is really good though.
Thanks a lot, it's a mono mic but if you use two of them you will get stereo then. Or you can add the mono recording to left and right track for double mono. That's the way most mics like that are used. I hope that helps a bit.
They had a brief period where the kit dropped down to $70 plus tax. Despite being a new model that flash sale price was a no brainer to me. If it happens again I'm buying a kit to gift to a friend 👍🏻
Now that's just criminal... Another person commented that they bought the kit recently and it included two lav mics also 😀. That's crazy value for money.
I got a set of these a while back amd theyre great! The only issue i have, is that the creation date of every file is set as 1st Jan 1970. Thats a major pain!
I didn't know they time travelled also :-) In all seriousness I haven't noticed that on mine. I need to have a look at the recorded files when I get back and see what year I teleported to.
Hi, if you join the mic up to your computer via a USB-C cable it should appear as an external storage device, you can then downnload the audio files as you normally would transfer files from an external media source. I hope that helps and please note the recordings are stored on the mics and not on the receiver.
Hi, the audio is saved on the Transmitter and not the receiver, which is good news as there is no transmission inloved then incase your are working in a very saturated space like an event. Simply plug your USB cable into the transmitter and your computer should see it as a removable storage device and all your audio files are on that then. I hope that helps 👍
Hi, No, it doesn't have bluetooth. I usually just sync both recording in editing software afterwards. It's very easy to do that. I hope that helps a small bit.
Hi, yes you can, I have not personally used it though as I have a Pixel 8 Pro phone. If you reach out to Neewer they will confirm its use for you though but that's exactly what this mic was meant for.
That's a very good question and if you are talking about the encoding bit technology between the mic and reciever I honestly don't know. The one thing I would say here is I generally record directly onto the mic so I don't tend to use the reciever a lot unless I am using it as a fail safe recording. If you meant the sampling rate the CM 28 records... 48khz uncompressed Wav files. I have found this mic with the one touch noise reduction to be amazing in loads of situations, are you thinking of recording in a car or on a motorbike? Or is more from the sidelines?
I noticed Neewer offers a 2 pack (2 receivers and 4 mics). Do you know if it has the ability to record 4 mics at once? Looking for something that allows me to record 3+ people at once and wondering if this is the solution. Thank you!
Hi Steven, on the CM 28 MICS you can record on each mic via their own internal storage, it records directly onto the transmitter so yes, this would be able to that for you then. You just need to set each mic recording and away you go.
I love the internal recording, that's so handy even as a backup recording it's very worthwhile in case you get the Audio settings wrong or even worse forget to connect it 😂
Hi, I was recording internally on the mic system and I synced the audio together in editing then, that's how I could switch the sound backwards and forwards instantly. You can sync the clips in DaVinci Resolve, which is a free video editing app and it works beautifully.
Where is the recording saved/Which one does the internal recording? The transmitter(A.K.A the microphone itself) or the Receiver. You kept confusing me
The Microphone itself (transmitter) is what stores the audio recording. When you connect it to a computer it shows up like a flash drive and there are your recordings. Each Mic has its own internal storage then of course.
Can these work wirelessly on a dji action 4 and if so what range without having to connect as i want the action 4 out in the weather and microphone inside a vehicle. Dont want to have to try sync audio later.
Sorry no, that won't work, it would work if the receiver is physically connected to the action4, you could have the transmitter in the car with you but weather sealing is going to be the issue.
Hi, it won't work by plugging it into the Pocket 3, what I do with my pocket 2 and Osmo Action is... I record directly on the mics internal storage and then add the audio in post processing afterwards. It's simple to auto sync the audio in post processing and it gives you a backup recording then too.
Sorry I haven't tested that as of yet but I can't see why it wouldn't work. If you reach out to Neewer they can possibly confirm this for you because it could also be hardware specific.
Hi, I was planning on doing that but these were just so good for the price I thought it was a bit pointless really. There are already a good few reviews out there on them though I think. Thanks for watching 👍
Fun fact that I just discovered! The CM28 allows the receiver to be connected to multiple devices simultaneously. I just tried the USB connection to an iPhone with the Lightning adapter while the analogue output was wired into a PA system - both the iPhone video AND the PA were getting audio from the Neewer mics (set to Mono) at the same time. Thought I'd try it just for fun, ahead of an event tomorrow that I need to record, and wondered which would take priority ... turns out, it's both. Very happy with these so far.
Hi Chris, I found out the same thing while testing them but it was totally by accident, I was connecting them via usb-c to my tablet and forgot to unplug the 3.5mm to my camera. I ended out with three recording as it was also recording on the tranmitter at the same time. They truly are awesome mics for the money. Good luck with the event tomorrow.
TBH I totally convinced myself as I thought there was no way it was going to work in those conditions. I did a few different takes in that wind and there was a lot of cursing in one of those takes and me calling myself an idiot numerous times for even trying this :-)
Sold! Can’t wait to get mine soon. Thanks for the great review, next time you may want to spend more time unboxing and describe the quality of the shrink wrap, box, instruction manual, print quality on the box, and anything else you can think of that’s not directly related to the mic itself 🤣
I had a 16 minute section recorded on the shrink wrap but I just couldn't do it enough justice so I decided to let that be a surprise for people when they get it. I highly recommend you sit down while opening the box. Mind blowing experience just slicing through that initial piece of shrink wrap and the peel back is honestly something everyone should experience. Enjoy every minute of it and you can thank me later 😉
Silly question. While I appreciate the distance/sound tests, I have one question. Does anyone **really** leave their expensive camera or phone on a tripod and walk 200M away to see if the sound works? I could (in my mind's eye) see an idiot running away with my smartphone and I'd cry a lot.
Oh trust me I know a lot of people that do that for selfies on mountains and on cliff edges, it always puzzles me that their camera is there when they come back :-) It's something I would be very slow trying let's just put it that way, Ireland is safe enough but no point tempting faith :-)
Hi Will that's why I put it all in clearly labelled chapters, so you can skip to the exact part you want in seconds. In my experience what's irrelevant for one person is possibly what another person looks for. Crazily some people love the unboxing part.

I use these a lot with just the transmitter recording and never had an issue with audio levels.
The level indicator on the receiver works well and it also has a safe mode (Ms) where it records the same track twice and in the second recording it's at a lower audio level.
I hope that helps a bit.
Sorry I meant the receiver, I've know learnt that there is a headphone jack on the receiver for monitoring the audio inputs.
@@JCBMedia Yes it has both an analogue audio out and headphone socket and interestingly you can also use the USB output also at the same time time so there are three outputs at once from the receiver.
I think there is 30% off the CM28 at the moment also.
Love the review. Great channel
Thanks a million for watching and really appreciate the kind words 👍
Great video! Do you know if the mic also syncs with a music speaker? Just wondering if I can also use it for in-person events. Thanks!
Hi, you can connect it to a line input or mic input on a speaker or PA system and record on it via the USBC port at the same time and even record directly on the mic while doing all that.
It's an awesome little mic set.
@@kieranhayesphotography Thank you!
Amazing review. Thanks a bunch!
My pleasure! Glad it helped and thanks for watching.
the audio is very clear recoding
Yes, the audio quality from these mics is great 👍
Awesome video man!
@kieranhayesphotography oh that's cool! Thank you so much bro!
@@MoleyPlays My pleasure, enjoy the mics.
Brilliant review, thank you!
Thanks a lot and glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks, Kieran, for the great video!
Thanks for watching and glad it was of some help.
i came to watch this then i realized we got the same last name lol appreciate it unc
Small world 🙂 Btw great last name 👍, did you know it means "of Fire".
This sounds way better than my Rode wireless go mic. I always have to edit the audio when I used the rode mic and EQ it to make a sound better.
Very underrated system.
It's an awful lot better than it should be at this price. Scarily so.
Great vid! Thanks for making it
Glad you liked it and thanks a lot for the feedback 🙌
Great video! Hit all the points.
Thanks a million, appreciate the kind words, have a great week.
@@andrewyeates7717 Ah sure we all love a bargain do not we 😂
In fairness I really wasn't expecting them to work in those conditions. It was blowing a gale when I filmed that and I totally thought I was wasting my time 😂
Even in normal conditions the sound quality is really good though.
Good job👍 How do you switch between Mono and Stereo?
Thanks a lot, it's a mono mic but if you use two of them you will get stereo then.
Or you can add the mono recording to left and right track for double mono. That's the way most mics like that are used.
I hope that helps a bit.
@@kieranhayesphotographythank you 👍
They had a brief period where the kit dropped down to $70 plus tax. Despite being a new model that flash sale price was a no brainer to me. If it happens again I'm buying a kit to gift to a friend 👍🏻
Now that's just criminal... Another person commented that they bought the kit recently and it included two lav mics also 😀.
That's crazy value for money.
I just ordered with flash sale for $73
That is some bargain, I was just at The Photography Show in the UK this weekend and they were on sale for £100.- there so $73.- is a complete steal.
Just ordered today $77@@kieranhayesphotography
its actually the same fulaim n mailada wireless microphone,
I got a set of these a while back amd theyre great!
The only issue i have, is that the creation date of every file is set as 1st Jan 1970. Thats a major pain!
I didn't know they time travelled also :-) In all seriousness I haven't noticed that on mine. I need to have a look at the recorded files when I get back and see what year I teleported to.
Great review IS really good thanks
Thanks a lot for watching and for the feedback, enjoy the mics.
Please help….Hi how do you download the internal recording from these mics?
Hi, if you join the mic up to your computer via a USB-C cable it should appear as an external storage device, you can then downnload the audio files as you normally would transfer files from an external media source. I hope that helps and please note the recordings are stored on the mics and not on the receiver.
Hello. Were you able to figure out how to pull the audio that is saved on the receiver itself? I'm having some trouble with mine.
Hello. Does
have bluetooth to conect to the dji action 4?
Hi, No, it doesn't have bluetooth. I usually just sync both recording in editing software afterwards. It's very easy to do that.
I hope that helps a small bit.
@ Hi. Thanks for reply💪 and everything you do!
Can you connect this to your iPhone ? And if so how do you activate it? I’m new to microphones
Hi, yes you can, I have not personally used it though as I have a Pixel 8 Pro phone. If you reach out to Neewer they will confirm its use for you though but that's exactly what this mic was meant for.
Does this has 32bit encoded bit technology? Is this good for motovlogging??
Can i mount the receiver on my camera aswell or just the microphones?
Yes, you can it fits on a hot or cold shoe on your camera or rig. Really well thought out product.
Use it as my primary for all my videos now. (if I'm not at my desk)
I love the internal recording, that's so handy even as a backup recording it's very worthwhile in case you get the Audio settings wrong or even worse forget to connect it 😂
So it actually behaves like a true lav, unlike the other products
These are amazing mics, incredible for the price.
How did you connect those mic with DJI action 3?
Hi, I was recording internally on the mic system and I synced the audio together in editing then, that's how I could switch the sound backwards and forwards instantly.
You can sync the clips in DaVinci Resolve, which is a free video editing app and it works beautifully.
@@kieranhayesphotography thank you
@@sherintalkz you're very welcome
@@kieranhayesphotography still for the money its a great piece of kit. Maybe i stick with my oa3 and dont ulgrade and go that kit
Hi, I want to buy this microphone but I need to use it with my DJI Osmo Pocket 3, do you know if it will work with that? thank you in advance.
Hi, it won't work by plugging it into the Pocket 3, what I do with my pocket 2 and Osmo Action is... I record directly on the mics internal storage and then add the audio in post processing afterwards. It's simple to auto sync the audio in post processing and it gives you a backup recording then too.
Great video! do you know if this mics will work on instagram and facebook live?
Sorry I haven't tested that as of yet but I can't see why it wouldn't work. If you reach out to Neewer they can possibly confirm this for you because it could also be hardware specific.
i was expecting a comparison over the other mics you got
Convinced me
TBH I totally convinced myself as I thought there was no way it was going to work in those conditions. I did a few different takes in that wind and there was a lot of cursing in one of those takes and me calling myself an idiot numerous times for even trying this :-)
Geez I gotta sell my comica c3 now
Nothing wrong with having a few extra mics :-)
Be careful when you order: There is a version around that comes without the charging box!
Hi Matthias, thanks for that I didn't know they started to sell them without the charging case.
God bless ya cat!
Great work:)

Silly question. While I appreciate the distance/sound tests, I have one question. Does anyone **really** leave their expensive camera or phone on a tripod and walk 200M away to see if the sound works? I could (in my mind's eye) see an idiot running away with my smartphone and I'd cry a lot.
Oh trust me I know a lot of people that do that for selfies on mountains and on cliff edges, it always puzzles me that their camera is there when they come back :-) It's something I would be very slow trying let's just put it that way, Ireland is safe enough but no point tempting faith :-)
neewer.
It's a great mic 👍
wow dji succckkkkkkkkks
Now in fairness it was blowing a gale that day but the Neewer CM28 really does an amazing job in any conditions.
@@kieranhayesphotography it seems dji picked up more of the background compare to neewer.
Unboxing is irrelevant. Start with audio demo instead of waiting 8 minutes.
Hi Will that's why I put it all in clearly labelled chapters, so you can skip to the exact part you want in seconds. In my experience what's irrelevant for one person is possibly what another person looks for. Crazily some people love the unboxing part.
I disagree..people often buy 2nd hand..happens a lot these days...and I've watched videos just to make sure I got what I paid for...
Is that fine with you Will?
@@jezrack Sure that's relevant but it's a mic and the most important thing is the audio. Start with that and finish up with what's in the box.
