The same way we get tetris attack, wario's woods, puzzle bobble in the show! edit: Though yea, after watching competitive tourneys or first-to-50's, this runner was kinda meh by comparison. edit2: I take 50% of that back. I think he's way better at tetris than puyo.
I am no expert of either, but I guess the skillset needed for those two games are slightly different. Tetris seems more about reflex (to do some crazy twists) and Puyo seems more about quick thinking (to visualize how the stack would clear).
I will never get how people do bigger chains in puyo, tbh the most likely way to get any results is just go in mashing buttons at random and pray a miracle happens with colours matching.
If you play versus a CPU opponent who is playing as either Ai, Dongurigaeru or Nohoho (depending on which Puyo game you're in), that's pretty much what they do. Can be surprisingly devastating.
I love this game, but puyo hurts me way more than tetris, even after learning it it still racks my brain sometimes when I lose track of what I'm trying to do after I get too many pieces I don't want and I botch any chain potential, but it is super gratifying when you pull off a big chain.
You can also beat the AI in Swap in a Puyo Puyo opening before the board changes, in fact with some luck you could win in as little as 18/19s, all clear opening into power chain is the quickest way, but a quick shot with a few power chains is the fastest way otherwise as you have to wait for garbage to drop twice anyway ideally your first chain should resolve as they drop a piece and should do at least 5 lines and while you wait you build the finisher, more optimal than doing a 5 chain because the cpu is so slow and you just delay when they first take damage by going for 5. Best to learn to setup big power 2s and 3s in as many ways as possible until you can spot them instinctively while holding down. Avoid splitting pieces as they drop really slow, I never knew manip was humanly possible but you could manip a sub-20 opening on the first level too I guess, Not sure how low it can go, be nice if cpu stacked up column 3, maybe the ai can be manipped somehow too.
Does anyone here think that AGDQ should have brought in someone like Wumbotize or Lila Oshisaure or any PPT RUclipsrs to do the run instead of this guy? Just my opinion.
Runner introduction starts at 0:41.
Run starts at 1:38.
Couch commentary is provided by BBForky and Cane.
Edobean is the host.
Guy sounds nervous, but I would be too! Good for him running for AGDQ! What a great run! 😃

This was such an entertaining run!!! It proves we need more Puyo games being brought outside of Japan!
How the friq did we actually get this game in gdq
The same way we get tetris attack, wario's woods, puzzle bobble in the show!

Xanth Earth I have no idea but I'm happy

can't believe i missed this run! glad to see puyo is finally at GDQ. awesome work! hopefully this makes a return this summer or next year
Kirby's Avalanche (the SNES version of Puyo Puyo) was run at SGDQ 2015
Honestly, I'm surprised there wasn't a donation war for what Tetrimino/Puyo skins to use during the run.
it's not that big of a game atm.
maybe in sgdq.
I love how most of the donation names I recognized from S2’s puyo streams- almost all of them donated 24
Disclaimer
This isn’t a full campaign speedrun. This run contains only chapters 8-10

you plan drops from chains reallly well ahead. some thing i'm shit at haha
you memorize shapes and ways puyos fall/connect

17:56 This is the first left-side Godspin I've ever seen. Nicely played.
"poyo"
The couch and runner sound like ASMR.
hold up, mini t-spin double?
18:14
39:18
Dude wtf, should have done another T-spin
Yeah, he's also just a human you know
Draco Centauros is my wife.
I remember when we didn't have those fancy T-spins or held blocks.
mdudegamer It was harder back then. WAY harder.
ok boomer
9:56 spin everything you say, try to do an O spin
Sorry to burst your bubble, but it has been done in fusion by a youtuber by the name of Lilla Oshisaure. Not possible in versus or swap/ however.
*Watches run, sees 10-3 which I havent gotten to yet is a Fusion battle against Ecolo*
Oh, oh no.
Nice work scotto!
Tetromino rhymes with domino.
That's right, but "Tetrimino", the world Tetris uses for its tetrominoes, doesn't. Listen to the voice acting in Puyo Puyo Tetris's cutscenes.
The only part of AGDQ that matters.

Lmao shoutout to the person at the beginning of the vid, I have the same red panda kigurumi 😂
RoryTheFiend for SGDQ puyo
It's a shame Tetris is so absurdly slow in this game.
I paid for this game only to learn that there's a delay every time you clear a line :/

wasnt able to catch this one live, if the chat wasn't full of SourPls when the tetris theme came on i'm disappointed in them

Oh. I thought this would be way more impressive.

Maybe if they actually did speedruns and submitted it. As far as I know, I was the only person who submitted this run for this GDQ
Oh ok
Who knows, maybe those guys were busy with tournaments and uploads.
Looks like a little clickbait, because it's not an any% or 100% (or game completion) run.
It is, as exactly said, the extra stages getting 100% (3 stars) on all of them.
Englush voices suck except fir schezo and amitie...
