Gentlemen, my family hails from Kirkmaiden. Part of our clan arrived in America in the early 1700's. Though i am far removed from Caledonia in distance and history this song grips my heart to remind me that although i am a 4th generation American, Scotland is my true home.
One of my favourite songs for the pipes but i have never heard it being performed like this .
Absolutely fantastic 👏👏👏👏👏
This should be Scotland's national anthem.👍❤️🙏👍
Agreed
Agreed!! Imagine singing this before a 6 nations game 🤯💙
It’s one of the unofficial ones
My feelings exactly........
Land of our fathers, we will always be
Faithful and loyal to our own country.
In times of danger,
we will set you free.
Lead you to glory and to victory.

I’m from Texas and ran across this video and chose to view it when I saw it was Highland Cathedral this choir was going to sing. Loved hearing regular Scots sing this song with such spirit and pride for their country. Brought me to tears.
Hi Judith. Thank you for your kind comments.
@@westertonmalevoicechoir You’re too kind to reply. Let me add that my professional voice teacher daughter from Houston,Texas and her daughter from Raleigh, North Carolina, were touring in Scotland just last week. Yesterday they were telling me all about their wonderful time in Scotland and the UK. So today I was rummaging through RUclips videos of Scotland, to get a better idea of Scotland and it’s culture, when I saw your heartfelt performance that contributed to my vicarious tour of Scotland. Thank you for sharing.
Scotsman that’s lived in HTX for 15yrs. I listen to this song when I need a little pick me up!! IMO should be the national anthem.
I am an Indian born in Singapore and I have no words to describe or compliment this performance. Bravo ❤
Just sending shivers down my spine, wonderful Guys. Love listening to this with the Pipebands. Well done everyone.
Wow. This song gives me goosebumps all over my body and tears in my eyes.
Thank you all for this overwhelming song. Heartily greetings from Germany
Highland Cathedral was written as a pipe tune by in 1982 by the German musicians Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb, reportedly for a Highland games in Germany. Its rising popularity in the two decades since has seen it picked by Madonna as a wedding march when she married at Skibo castle.

Beautiful song 💙
Lovely. And a lovely accompaniment on piano Penny. From a Welsh accordionist, Frank in Bristol.
Thanks Frank! :)
Thanks Bryan. I know the origins of this tune. I have much affection for Scotland - I learned to play the accordion by listening to the great Scottish bands of the '60s and '70, in a wee croft in North Wales. Now 73, and so glad I did. Cheers, Frank in Bristol.
My favourite version of Highland Cathedral.
Beautiful, keep singing x

Absolutely brilliant....
Fantastic.
Beautiful 🥰
Beautiful i love it
Well done!!!
Their swords rang out from every glen
Blood spilled freely by our bravest men
who died for something worth more to them
For Scotland and for freedom.
(Chorus)
We who now must follow them
Shall we do the same again
Fight and die as free men still
or bow on bended knee.
Scotland's people are the greatest kind
a friend to all with ties that bind
A people yet both fierce and kind
For Scotland and for freedom.
Time for Scots to raise their eyes
Let their talents gain their prize
Shape the world before their very eyes
For Scotland and for Freedom.
Nathaniel Renfew
Stirring stuff!

Thanks Fiona!
Fantastic!!
Beautiful 🏴

This should be the Scottish Anthem when Scotland is a free country again.
A Scottish anthem should be written by Scots not Germans.
Nothing "fancy" here folks just nicely done..
One for Murrayfield!
Emozionante
bravi.
Good morning. Is it possible to have the score?
Does it exist in 4 voices?
Basses, baritones, first tenors, second tenors
Afraid not, we learned this one by ear and the arrangement was in Bryan's head! (...and still is! 😁)
Land of my fathers, we will always be
Faithful and loyal to our own country.
In times of danger, we will set you free,
Lead you to glory and to victory.
Hail, Caledonia, to our ancient prayer,
in this Highland Cathedral, let our standards bear,
Joining together with one dream to share,
God bless the people of this land so fair.
Gone is the past, let us start anew,
Let this hope of peace always remain,
Spirit of Scotia, be strong and true,
then your children will smile again.
Rise Caledonia, let your voices ring
in this Highland Cathedral of our God and King,
Whom, joy and liberty, to all, will bring,
Come, let your heart, with love and courage, sing.
Lonely the exile o'er distant seas,
the home of their birth, gone from their eyes.
Bring back their souls o'er the ocean breeze
to the land where their fathers lie.
Rise Caledonia, let your voices ring
in this Highland Cathedral of our God and King,
Whom, joy and liberty, to all, will bring,
Come, let your heart, with love and courage, sing.
I am in wales with family in outer hebrides that was lovely singing as good as any welsh choir had me in tears diolch
There is hardly any national anthem that describes so much of what is really important
Brilliant can you but copy
Nice german tune. No idea where these words came from
God Save the Queen
@Richard Somerville this has nothing to do with the Queen the complete opposite this is about Scotland not Saxon England
Only found out that this was written by 2 Germans
Hair raising stuff
