  • Interested in chasing Pacific Herring? Then this vid's for you! These delicate and delicious little bait fish come into the San Francisco Bay to spawn the shoreline a few weeks out of the year, and the best way to target them is with a casting net (aka Hawaiian throw net). Good local info and a portable fish finder help too. At $9 per dozen at local bait shops, each good cast is literal money!
Thanks to Goture for the cast net amzn.to/2KUx3Hm

Soak your cast net in fabric softener and hot water. Then set out in stretched open position. This will set the memory of the net to want to open up more when throwing.

Ish, do you let that net sink to the bottom completely before pulling in? It seems rocky and I'd imagine you'd snag up, but it seems you didn't hang up at all.

yeah, first cast i counted down to figure out bottom, and once i felt any slack i started pulling. very easy to snag the bay, 3 nets were lost around me that night, i lucked out i guess.
