  • If you have been looking for a way to throw your cast net without risking putting it in your mouth and you want consistency, then you have found the right video.
    Tips:
    1. Keep your elbow on the arm holding the net away from your body!
    2. Make sure there are NO tangles before you throw.
    3. Don't have your net dragging the water when you throw.
    4. Always grab the net about at your waist. You should feel balanced wherever you grab.

Hey everyone!! Now that I'm back and it's been many years since I created this video - I realized there are a lot of things I left out in this video I would have loved to share.. I take this method and show you how to throw a smaller net, reiterate the form for the big net, and add some very useful techniques to make you a better thrower with the same ease as displayed in this video. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching. Link for the video is in the description!

True, especially for the smaller nets.
If you try throwing a 10' net like this, it will probably injure your shoulder. But the little nets pancake all day long with this technique

I like your getting right to the point. I am weary of people’s 10-20 minute instructions and tutorials that should be no more than 3-5 minutes, minus the repetition, redundancy, and irrelevant stuff.

I have been using a net for over a couple years and wanted to find a better way to use it. I spent full day watching RUclips and trying several different ways of throwing my 8ft cast net. When it was all done this style show by Fisherman Alex was by far the best. It is quick and simple!
There are other styles that open the net a little wider and flatter but they will have you rubbing that wet sometimes nasty net all over your arms legs and mouth. Not worth a couple inches more of expansion. Good job Alex !!

Angle and timing and hand position. How do u learn the finer points I wonder. Need some spray paint for different parts of the net so u get cause and affect.

Awesome method, I bought a 6' cast net today and tested it out ,mullet were all around me ,I threw and threw ,not a one did I catch, went home disgusted, found your video practiced your method on the lawn and the net opened up fully on the first throw, and I pulled back 2/3s of a 5 gallon bucket of mullet. Thanks and try it folks it works!

Haters gonna hate. Great video. Also worth noting: putting the weights in your mouth in freshwater could give you some pretty nasty stuff and as has always been the case, you risk damage to your teeth if you make a mistake/misfire or just flat out don't know what you're doing. This is a safe, effective method and a good video showing exactly how it's done.

Hi, Hey thanks for making and posting this video! By far the Easiest Way to throw a cast net! I'm a newbie and it worked great on a new 4' net I just got off eBay. I also have an over 6' net I got at a yard sale and had to fix it a bit. Your method works GREAT on both nets. One problem I had with the larger net was I was trying to throw it to hard. I used your method and just tossed it lighter and it opened up just as it should! Very Happy Camper! ...Dale
PS: It is also a VERY fast way to set up the net for a throw.... Thanks again!

I watched quite a number of videos before I came across this one. Each one that I watched, I went and tried 3 times. If it did not turn out well at least one of the three times, I moved on. If it did, I gave it another 3 tries. This time it had to turn out well 2 of 3 casts. This was the first video that turned out well 5 of my first 6 casts. It is easy to remember for those of us who don't use it often. I don't plan to look further than this method. No need to. Thanks for the great instruction.

great video, slowly, methodically, demonstrating each move clearly. Many other cast net videos are a joke. One guy starts his, in his truck, driving to the water. what?? I've used your method since the first time I threw a net, over twenty years ago. I was using a 6' net in those days. I've never tried a larger net. Surgery on both shoulders, has me using a 4.5' or 5' net, nowadays, and I don't throw it far. Just enough to open the net, having the boat over the school of shad.

Very easy. Just have to check the weights and make sure they are not tangled before you gather the net and throw, and you are good to go! I could not follow the other technique of putting it over the shoulder. Your way is much better.
