Hey everyone!! Now that I'm back and it's been many years since I created this video - I realized there are a lot of things I left out in this video I would have loved to share.. I take this method and show you how to throw a smaller net, reiterate the form for the big net, and add some very useful techniques to make you a better thrower with the same ease as displayed in this video. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching. Link for the video is in the description!
This video really helped me
Thank you
10 years later and this is still the best cast met throwing tutorial on RUclips. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
True, especially for the smaller nets.
If you try throwing a 10' net like this, it will probably injure your shoulder. But the little nets pancake all day long with this technique
I like your getting right to the point. I am weary of people’s 10-20 minute instructions and tutorials that should be no more than 3-5 minutes, minus the repetition, redundancy, and irrelevant stuff.
just bought a 6 ft net got to say your video was the best on the net you made it very easy to understand the technique you use very easy to grasp practice is key 75 years old and just learned something new from a young talented man.... thanks again
I have been using a net for over a couple years and wanted to find a better way to use it. I spent full day watching RUclips and trying several different ways of throwing my 8ft cast net. When it was all done this style show by Fisherman Alex was by far the best. It is quick and simple!
There are other styles that open the net a little wider and flatter but they will have you rubbing that wet sometimes nasty net all over your arms legs and mouth. Not worth a couple inches more of expansion. Good job Alex !!
Angle and timing and hand position. How do u learn the finer points I wonder. Need some spray paint for different parts of the net so u get cause and affect.
I've tried many ways to throw a net (and there are many ways!) first time out this is truly the "go to" way to throw a 6 foot net! This is an absolutely fantastic tutorial! Thanks
Awesome method, I bought a 6' cast net today and tested it out ,mullet were all around me ,I threw and threw ,not a one did I catch, went home disgusted, found your video practiced your method on the lawn and the net opened up fully on the first throw, and I pulled back 2/3s of a 5 gallon bucket of mullet. Thanks and try it folks it works!
My gran has a good mullet recipe with mullet pieces garlic onion and tomatoe. Very yummy if I learn this throw and catch sum I'm giving her a call.
for me the most simple and clear presentation yet.👍👍
This by far has been the most successful method for me to get consistent openings. Thanks
Short and to the point -best cast net tutorial on youtube !
THANK YOU!!! This is the first video that actually worked!
This technique, at least for my 5-ft cast net, has me spot on, throwing pancakes, with aim, and distance. Good video thanks for the post now I need to get a bigger net 🤣 because it feeling confident.
Hands-down best video I’ve seen on throwing a cast net pretty much ever!!!!😎
Thanks Hog!!!
Haters gonna hate. Great video. Also worth noting: putting the weights in your mouth in freshwater could give you some pretty nasty stuff and as has always been the case, you risk damage to your teeth if you make a mistake/misfire or just flat out don't know what you're doing. This is a safe, effective method and a good video showing exactly how it's done.
ohh ya I'm so envious on how to throw a 5ft net. anyways saltwater can make you equally sick dip shit.
Seems like it Nathan, considering you came here to watch the video dumbass.
Sorry about that, the comment was rude as hell. What I should have said was don't waste your time with small nets. You guys should be using 10ft nets minimum. This is advice I wish someone would have given me when I first got started.
This was extremely helpful man. I am a first timer and I can throw much better now. You explained it perfectly!
I got my net a few days ago after watching this video, I was able to throw it perfectly opening on my first try!!!!! Thanks
THE BEST ONE EVER!!!! no crap music in background and well explained...went out and threw the best one I've had yet. Thanks man
Tried it on a 5' cast net. Worked great. Thanks for clear instructions.
I learned using my mouth. I saw this video and the first few times it wouldn't open up. my wife watched me and noticed I wasn't using my strong arm enough. after that little adjustment, it opened up every time. thanks for the video and keeping it as simple as it actually is.
Definitely the easiest way to throw a net, simple explanation,( some are really confusing), well done mate
Appreciate the kind words Paul!
By far THE best way to do it. I tried 10 diffrent methods before I found this. Works from kast number one.
One of the best videos I've seen on how to set up & throw a cast net. Very simple and easy to understand and straight to the point. I will use this video to learn how to use a cast net when my net comes in later this week.
Thanks Mark!
great video! we were about ready to give up and go home but watched one last video. Your video saved our morning! Our ten year old gave it a try and caught something right away. It's his new favorite way to fish!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. A million times thank you. I had forgotten how I learned and had been struggling. This method is so much better then what I learned.
Very Good job explaining
Great way to throw net
l
Got you bookmarked in my browser in case youtube or Google kills my accoumt again😁
Your method is by far, the easiest to load cleanest to use and never fails. Had your vid saved now for 7 years so I can pass it on to others.

Caza Y Pesca
, I am 72 years old and just started using this method and it's easiest and most efficient way I've ever found thank you so much
Very simple and practical demonstration and explanation. Good job! I've always had problems with throwing consistently.
never saw such an easy and effective demonstration of casting net
I have watched many cast net videos and this is by far the easiest and best way to throw a cast net!
Hi, Hey thanks for making and posting this video! By far the Easiest Way to throw a cast net! I'm a newbie and it worked great on a new 4' net I just got off eBay. I also have an over 6' net I got at a yard sale and had to fix it a bit. Your method works GREAT on both nets. One problem I had with the larger net was I was trying to throw it to hard. I used your method and just tossed it lighter and it opened up just as it should! Very Happy Camper! ...Dale
PS: It is also a VERY fast way to set up the net for a throw.... Thanks again!
I look at 20 videos and you had the easiest and best method. Thank you for this video.
You're welcome Michael!
awesome video man. I now use this technique with my 12 footer and it works great. no throwing the net over your shoulder, no lead in your mouth, perfect
Pancakes on my first try using this method! excellent technique, and even better video showing it.
Good Job !! Cast and demo. Been throwing big nets all my life. They work but wear you out. Now using a 5' ( 10' opened) ) w/ your method. Dead shot w/this one. And NO MORE TEETH !!! Gracis Senore
I've been so frustrated with the "over the arm" method. I literally practiced for 2 hours. Total fail. I came across your vid earlier. INSTANT SUCCESS! Thanks bro!
Thanks for sharing! I've looked through a lot a videos and this is still the best and easiest technique i've tried to cast my 7 feet net. Perfect pancake on the first attempt and able to repeat it over and over too.
Thank you for sharing your technique. Just got a 5 foot net and had a hard time before watching your video.
ONE OF THE BEST VIDEO THAT TEACH YOU HOW TO THROW A CAST NET, THANKS
after throwing over the shoulders and teeth holding for years I tried your way and like you said it works all the time. thanks.
Dude, you win. Thank you, this is the best way I’ve found. Cheers!
This technique worked Really well for me. I caught Mullet My first day out. Thanks. Great Video.
Thank you, that is a good technique and easy to learn.
I watched quite a number of videos before I came across this one. Each one that I watched, I went and tried 3 times. If it did not turn out well at least one of the three times, I moved on. If it did, I gave it another 3 tries. This time it had to turn out well 2 of 3 casts. This was the first video that turned out well 5 of my first 6 casts. It is easy to remember for those of us who don't use it often. I don't plan to look further than this method. No need to. Thanks for the great instruction.
Best And Easiest Way To Cast In My Opinion!! Definitely productive with my 6-7 ft cast net. Good looks Bro!! 💯
thanks so much from the UK heading to florida on vacation soon cant wait to try this out,
this probally was the best instructional video on the net, about a net...lol. thanks. im a new cast netter, so i'm looking up videos for how to throw...
this is one of the easiest and best way to throw a cast net this video has helped me a lot I use it every time a highly recommend it
This is one of the best method so far for starters.
great video, slowly, methodically, demonstrating each move clearly. Many other cast net videos are a joke. One guy starts his, in his truck, driving to the water. what?? I've used your method since the first time I threw a net, over twenty years ago. I was using a 6' net in those days. I've never tried a larger net. Surgery on both shoulders, has me using a 4.5' or 5' net, nowadays, and I don't throw it far. Just enough to open the net, having the boat over the school of shad.
bro thank you so much for this tutorial! i just got a 6ft cast net and could not for the life of me learn any other technique but this video finally made it so i am throwing perfect pancakes!!! thanks man!!!
I' ve had good early results.....still practicing......love this cast......thx!!!!!!!!!!
I always love learning a new way to throw a net. Thanks and great video. Fish on!! :-)
Works! First time! I had been struggling with the method in the instructions with the net. Thanks! Sue
Amazing news! Thanks Sue!
Trying this technique tomorrow !! Thanks for sharing
great video. easy and simple works great. Just got a simple net tried this in the back yard works great.
watched this video twice and went out probably caught about 45 fish🎣🎣
Thanks for the great video. Clear and easy to follow. Just bought my first net and after 15 minutes practicing your technique in the backyard I had the net flying all the way out and wide open. Very easy. Just have to check the weights and make sure they are not tangled before you gather the net and throw, and you are good to go! I could not follow the other technique of putting it over the shoulder. Your way is much better.

Awesome tutorial young man right into the point I did exactly as you say the first time and I actually got it Right. The second time I usually do it right so I have to keep practicing but you did a great job teaching the tecnike

Fisherman Alex, please put your caption in the tutorial, so it's easier for me to translate here in Brazil, because I do use Google translator.
I liked this style of launching your cast net (cast net)
