Thank you for the guide .. just started playing on Xbox and loving it and the complexity playing with a controller. Always wanted to play an RPG with loads of skills at my fingertips using a controller.. I would be more than happy to play other games using this set given the chance.

At the risk of sounding like a whinging fanboy, trigger chords for abilities is such a great way to include a lot of hotbar space and I wish more MMOs experimented with the idea of controllers.
Despite having played the game over 500+ hours, following your guide has made coming back to the game easier after I lost all my hotbars/settings. Your Dragoon guide is great as well, helped me greatly!
Hey prime, been trying my best to make the best xbox elite 2 controller setup for ffxiv. Have you been able to get the shift function in the controller settings to work in game? I've conquered the ffxiv setting changes but it would be amazing to setup shift from the xbox controller settings.
I have a series 2 as well, but what do you mean a shift setup? I’m not familiar with that, and the only feature I use is the back paddles for the LB and RB actions.
Is there a way on controller to change the left analog stick direction to strafe left and the right to strafe right? I know you can do that with the keyboard, but I have yet to find an option with controller.
Any tips for getting rid of grainy graphics on Xbox series s/x? It’s set to 1080p on performance and I’ve toggled every setting i can find and nothing changes the granularity. Hoping it’s just the old areas but bushes/grass are just really extra grainy.
If referring to paddles, future reference should be upper or lower paddle / left or right side.. that’s all preference though and I’m just asking about what R3 click is supposed to be
Yeah I won’t be back full time again as I have to focus on my family and health. But the good news is I’m down 60+ pounds and once I lose another 50 I’ll be able to play Dawntrail.
Yall do know that this game used to be on 360 disk only. Till they just cut access when xbox one came out. If you dont believe me i have the xbox achievements to prove it. Just saying.

If you link an account to your Microsoft account, it's linked, forever. Do not link a new account to the Microsoft account you want to use.

New World is adding official controller support in March and it's FANTASTIC I think they took some lessons from FFXIV

Is there an easy way to read skill descriptions. Only way ive found is to go into settings turn on mouse mode but thats a real pain....

It's cause it's 1080p... it's fine on a 1080p screen but 1440 and 4k you are creating a worse pic

R3 isn't paddle, it's your right stick click press, L3 is the left stick click :)
Bumpers: LB/RB = L1/L2, Triggers: LT/RT = L2/R2, Stick Clicks: LS/RS = L3/R3 is how I remember it.

Are you sure you aren't conflating XI with XIV? There may have been alpha or beta on X360 but it was never fully released there.
