I love seeing some of the really old slalom races in big swells with massive jumps. Super cool. Not sure today's slalom boards could handle that sort of punishment.
I'm all for this, i.e., racing in a variety of conditions, especially serious waves and shore conditions. This might better suit smaller sailers, too, expanding the field that's become specialized for taller, heavier sailors.
They should make the jumps resemble sharks so they can literally and figuratively "jump the shark". I'm actually looking forward to it and hopeful that it will produce some exciting racing like boarder-x and skier-x did in the winter games.
The fin manufacturers will not be too happy with obstacles: Look closely at the fins they used to race with, compared with current carbon (straight) fins.
I think it's a bullshit format. Great that you guys like it. I understand why this was invented but it feels extremely gimmicky. But maybe I'm completely wrong and will like the format after seeing a few races.
The event organizers can decide. It is a good idea to have these alternative / options in the rule book.

Just regular Fin slalom races please. And more freestyle events!!!
Maybe add a limbo bar to the fin races! There must be a freestyle move to get under one.

Don’t know, mixed feelings about it should I say?? We’ll see

in 5 years this format will be gone and then fin slalom will be dead.
