Michael Manley was indeed a visionary but I do not believe that he was a great strategist. He could have accomplished a whole lot more and remain in power for a much longer period of time had he paced himself. Michael Manley was indeed a visionary but I do not believe that he was a great strategist. He could have accomplished a whole lot more and remain in power for a much longer period of time had he paced himself. Anyway, I guess that he was constrained by the 5 year election cycles and the political and economic behemoth to the north.

Mr White in Jamaica was adamant that no kid from the ghetto was going to sit in class beside junior white at Jamaica College, or Campion or Immaculate of Holy Childhood. So they, along with Seaga and his hench men, decided that if you black, step back, if you brown, stick around, and cause we white, we a keep it tight. Manley who is white, pushed back at them, and so they took their flight.

I see that some good strong leaders have emerged in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda.
