    True friendship is beautiful, love does not always equal sexuality, love is a pure loyalty towards someone.

      @joedredd1168 I 100% agree with you. That was my immaturity, ignorance and lack of emotional intelligence whe I was younger. True friendship is so rare and if you are lucky to find it, hold on to it. Thank you for your great insight and comment.

      @@yikesreviews No worrie chap. But I will say don't beat yourself up to much about what you did or how you felt as a kid, we were all stupid as children, it's natural for kids to think like that, I certainly did. It's part of growing up. Just look at you now and how much you've developed.

      @@joedredd1168 But I like beating myself up. I'm so great at it! Just kidding. I really appreciate your sentiment and I'm proud of the man I am today. I wish I could go back in time to my younger self and tell them yes I am your future and you better do better or else! I honestly think my younger self would ignore me or punch me in the face.

    I think Fellowship is my favourite of the trilogy, due to the more tender & emotional moments. This was a very interesting perspective to listen to, thanks for sharing

      @barrybarry7159. Thank you very much for your words of encouragement. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. There is something truly special when I watch the trilogy but especially now. I realize tender moments in epics and in movies in general are fading away. Everything is made to be ironic and catchy and trendy. I'm going to out meta your meta sort of vibe. The level of writing, care, direction, acting displayed in LOTR is so needed in a world that is on the brink of ruin. Sorry for waxing poetic with my response to you. Your comment made me happy. Have a awesome day!

    It’s wonderful to see people reach these revelations. The depth of human emotion is a gift and unfortunately in our culture we are trained to ignore so much of it. Learning to reconnect with the whole spectrum is so essential to living a good life. I think Tolkien understood that fact and wrote his characters to embody it. Thanks for sharing your personal journey.

      @kovala Thank you for you great comment and insight. Reconnecting with this film has allowed me to appreciate full what Tolkien and Jackson have accomplished. I just wish I could have appreciated it when I was younger.

    Almost every male character in LOTR has varied but sterling qualities of manhood.

    The beauty of getting older is understanding we were so stupid lol. But for men. I feel the social pressure of keeping your emotions locked away has done more damage than good. Recognizing the self imposed limits on yourself and breaking free is a true sign of growth. Great video! 🎉

    Three movies I love that people always define as having gay stuff. This one, the killer 1989, and ben hur 1959. It's not gay, it's just dudes loving each other like they should tbh

    • @yikesreviews
      @yikesreviews  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks @jellointhewind8712. I need to see The Killer (1989) and Ben Hur (1959) If a story is good it should not matter who loves one another or how that affection is displayed. I'm glad that there are more people out there that are secure in themselves, that they not only recognize that distinction but want to see more stories with those themes of men loving each other in a spectrum of ways. Thank you for your insights and support.

    I saw this in the theatre twice, once with my friends then again with my cousins as their Christmas present. With my friends we were giggling about who was more handsome Aragorn or Legolas.
    But now that I think of it, you're probably about my cousins age, but their take away was "Jennie bought us so much candy!" I wonder if you would have felt different about it seeing it the first time with an overly emotional 19 year old who was dispensing Reses Pieces.

    • @yikesreviews
      @yikesreviews  Месяц назад +1

      @jenniewomack5113 I definitely would have felt differently enjoying parts of it but felt weird when certain characters were on screen. I would have probably over-exaggerated my disdain when Frodo or any of the hobbits were on screen. I think when we are younger we take on the dominant personality of the most popular or coolest friend. At least I know I did. I wanted to fit in and all. I love these movies and I watch them every year near Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Thank you for your comment.

      @@yikesreviews You're 100% right about who you see the movie with the first time impacts how you view certain aspects. I wasn't a very popular kid so most of the cool movies I saw in theatres in the 90s were with my dad, I don't think the feelings I had toward Office Space were that of an average teenager because of that :)

      @@jenniewomack5113 Thank you very much for your comment. It took me back immediately to my young adulthood. This is a little off-topic but sort of echoes your latest reply. I'm a huge fan of horror movies because of my mom. I would sneak into her room while she looked at Hellraiser or The Exorcist and I curled up beside her.
      We ate Twizzlers and Raisinets and when a scary part came up she would cover my eyes or I would bury my head in her side. Oh, the memories!
      That is the wonderful thing about movies and they are linked to so many memories and periods in our lives.
      Sorry for the long reply and thank you once again for your comment and support.

    Yes the interactions with frodo and sam can certainly be enterpreted as gay, but it was meant as endearing in the films and we all made memes about it because it was too easy but i still allways appreciated the films more than the average person having watched the films extended more times than was probably healthy lol. Comedy allows us to make fun of things without the baggage of guilt as long as hatred is not the source of the making of the joke. People have a hard time learning the difference but age helps as we grow wise against even the most stubborn of people. Live and learn.

That's one of the great things about movies and getting older watching the same film can give you a different experience over the years. I was excited and full of energy when I first saw the trilogy. Now I'm a little more mellow. I'm absorbing every shot and interaction with each character and it's a new experience. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

    It's fine to be uncomfortable. It doesn't mean you hate anyone. For me it's just a meme. Frodo and Sam aren't gay in canon but they definitely act like it from the perspective of a non-hobbit from our planet. I don't share silent lingering eye contact with my mates.

    • @yikesreviews
      @yikesreviews  Месяц назад +1

      @jackthehat1093 Thank you for that explanation. I was so uncomfortable with the silent lingering eyes and slight romantic undertones that I avoided the film for years and never fully let myself enjoy it until now. Yeah, none of my friends did the longing googly eye thing but I realize now we were overreacting to male displays of affection. It was fun at the time but I feel I missed out on an experience somehow because of my initial fear and wanting to fit in. Thank you for your comment.
