- WATCH THE VIDEO RESPONSE WHICH IS AN OVERHEAD VIEW OF THIS SHOW SO THT YOU CAN SEE ALL OF THE GRET FORMATIONS & TRANSFORMATIONS! Nishihara plays in exhibition while the judges are determining the winner of the 2005 National Championship. 1st time I've seen them with rifles. But the music definitely warrants rifles. This is a much more fun show without the pressure of competition.

I LOVE Japanese marching bands. So wonderful to watch and to hear.
まだこの動画残っててくれて嬉しい!!!
10年以上前だけど、寝る前にいつも見てて、ふと思い出しました。
大好きな演技です!
マーチングを見ると心がhappyになるなぁ
These guys are great! I can't imagine how hard they have to work to get this far, but it's definitly worth it! It's awesome to get a bunch of kids together and create something this good.
This has a very mid 80s drum corps feel to it. Lovely
its like listening to a soundtrack that they have to edit 20 times to sound perfect....
too amazing.
What an amazing and outstanding program! Their M&M skills are impeccable...thanks for posting these shows.
西原の特徴はマーチングというよりカラーガードも含めた集団演舞だね。
Looks like they really studied DCI bands.. Great show!
Oh my god, this is the most incredible thing ever.
西高さいこうです☆
石垣でマーチングしてます☆
西高行きたいです!
これからも頑張って下さい★
i had this stuck in my head the whole day today
:D
they bring the effects to the show to make the music come live...
Man I recognize so much of the Blue Devils show from the 80's the same drills & music my high school band performed. They do execute it very well.
Nevermind, after rewatching the video I saw what you're talking about... I didn't notice it the first time since my sister owns one, so I see it basically every weekend.
wau!!!amazing...love 6.56-7.00...CG vs trumpeter...
I love the Nishihara band^^
AWESOME!!
凄すぎる…マーチングまたしたい…
This is so mind-blowing! It looks like a graphing calculator going crazy
yes they are that good~!!!
They dance around and act out any story the songs might have. Also, they are for pure entertainment. Just like the music.
the song is Take Five by Dave Brubeck, one of my favorite jazz songs and it is in 5/4, which is definitely hard to march in.
JAW DROPPING
Try marching 12/5 to "Take Five." Brubeck would be proud. Great show!
these guy r natural!!!
i wish our school had that range man grrrr
Yes it is I played pretty much the same arrangement in high school in 82. It was pretty much the same Blue Devil arrangement.
nice!!
its really marching band!!
"Take Five" (Dave Brubeck Quartet with the most popular recording)
Another fantastic show! Still great by 2023 standards. Where do they get those soloists? That's the best tuba solo I've ever heard!
Nishihara played this show for the exhibition as a guest for 2005 National since Nishihara couldnt participate the competition after winning 2 years straight in 2003 and 2004. That is a part of the rules. They kinda take a year off from all the serious play and enjoy thier play and entertain all the audience. so you should enjoy watching it rather than judge how they play. I really think they are great entertainers! dont you think so?
Yeah it's a euph lol, I march next to them. It's basically a euph you would use in a concert band, but with a weird attachment that makes it suitable for marching.
Wow. That show looks FUUUNN. o:
ま~ なんとも小憎らしい演出がおもしろい
映画の1Sceneを取り入れたりして楽しい
Marching Bandに仕上がっています
(でもこれってMarching Band? (^_^;) )
@TravisTriplet003
They already marched on a football field in America, there's a video of them here marching on a outside on a field.
TAKE FIVE!
@Bigyomann
Hmm K Thx
P.S I didn't say American Football Field....Just Football/Futbol/Soccer Field..
damn i wonder what their concert season is like
@Rachey827 The opener's a theme and variation on Brubeck's "Take Five", they then go into the Pink Panther, and then into Harlem Nocturne. I have no clue what the chart is at 5'50 to 7' 10. The closer's "My Heart Belongs to Me" followed by IIRC, "New York Rhapsody" as the tag followed by a suprise re-tag of the Take Five opener. Hope that helps. A lot of this was done by classic Blue Devils and Blue Coats- who says marching jazz is irrelevant?
I think those aren't over the shoulder euphoniums, but marching Tuba's. But I could be wrong...
Amazing... I wish our band was that good. :D
subarashiiiii
Well, the difference between a baritone and a euphonium is simply their bore sizes, where a baritone's bore is cylindrical and a euphonium's bore is conical (gets larger as at goes). At least in concert band there is a difference, but I think the attachment for marching really doesn't change the horn. In marching, a lot of people call euphs baritones because it is easier to say, but I think it is a euph either way it is played. If there is an actual reason it's called a baritone, let me know lol
On my channel there is an elementary school band that's REAL good.
They could definitely compete with some of the small corps, but comparing them to the Big Corps (Cadets, BD, SCV, Scouts, Cavs, Phantom) is kind of a stretch...They still deserve a big WOW!!!!
Nishihara and Aimachi pwn even the Blue Devils. I'll have a chance to compare them soon, though. I'm gonna go see them in Atascadero pretty soon.
There is no high school marching band that can match the many college level music majors marching in the top DCI drum corps.
That takes nothing away from this fantastic Nishihara marching band. They stand as mult-time national champions in Japan. They have nothing to prove to the DCI corps.
what was the slow song at the end called
with the trumpet solo?
Was the slow song at the end called, "My Heart Belongs To Me"? (A Barbara Streisand Song)
Good music and indoor show. Indoor presentations are different. Not subject to weather and the field is smaller, than a regular stadium. Like the trumpet. Doing this show in grass may not be as spectacular.
@herbs4mike Well this band is amazing.
i'm super jealous.
@imgame2121 Honestly to compare, I'd say the BA, LD, or Avon would recieve Outstanding General Effect when Tieing Nishihara with Outstanding Music and Nishihara would recieve the Outstanding Visual.
From what i can see is that Nishihara loves to make many forms, but you also need to add those visuals i.e. BA's Bikes or Avon's Bodywork.
HAHAHAHAHA! The trumpet player threw a Rifle toss! hahahahahaha!!!!!!!! that was insane!
i know why they are sooo good.. they trust each other american bands doesnt trust the other band members so they doubt themselves and screw up.
Micheal Gaines did the drill right?
This was only exhibition. They were not eligible to compete for nationals because of the law that says if the same school has won the last two national championships, they cannot compete to make a threepeat. They must sit out 1 year in order to let somebody else have a chance at winning.
Does anyone have any idea what that last song is before the Take 5 recap right at the very end of the show (it's the movement with the trumpet solo, and then the crazy fast drill)? I know it was in Blue Devils' 1979 show, but no one seems to have any idea what it is.
The Blue Devils used this song as a closer in more than one of their shows in the late 70's and into the early 80's. I'm not sure of the title either, but now am on a mission to find out.
I believe I found it..."La Suerte De Los Tontos from Cuban Fire Suite by Johnny Richards. They also feature the song in their 1980 show which was virtually unchanged from the 1979 show. I'm sure I've heard the song in many more BD performances throughout the years.
The Blue Devils tune towards the end with the gorgeous trumpet solo is "My Heart belongs to me."
wait, on the shoulder euphoniums? That's new
so at 6:10 is that a contra-horn or a baritone? cuz that's a contra-baritone at 7:13.
i wanna know all the songs they play!
their final moves r impressive as always.
4:07--brilliant move
4:53 VEly ni-ICE (get the tone?)
6:42--6:59 o that was creative! color guard vs. marcher!!! terrific!
wat songs/show is this? i love the music!
OMG DAT TRUMPET JUST KICKED DAT GIRL :O i liked how he spinned his trumpet though :]
Again I say they put A LOT of U.S. High school(like mine) and some corps bands to shame
sooo all band that have hats like that are good apparently.....yea im talking to you Shadow Armada!
6:52 how is the mouthpiece still on there?!??!??!?!
have you taken a look at Texas lately?
I do believe that is an "Over-the-shoulder Bavarian Butt-Harp" not a Euph. or Contra at 7:13.
This instrument is normally only used in Wagner's Ring Cycle in the absence of the 3rd Bb Wagner Tuben.
good day kind sir.
The one thing Japan can't do:
Boost America's self esteem.
does nishihara look smaller in this show than all the other shows???....
i am just wondering...
does anyone know what the title of the first song
Dave Brubeck - Take Five
i wanna twirl my trumpet...
Unexpected ending, lol
@TravisTriplet003
They would definitely beat Broken Arrow, L.D Bell, Avon, or any other highschool "Top" band out there in the US. Check out their marching performance on a football field it is still quite amazing.
@MrChumsx4 damn good thats what....never again i'll lose confidence in america again T^T
Once a band has won the nationals twice IN A ROW. They are not eligible to compete the entire next year.
why were they in exhibition?
@imgame2121 Ahh my bad.
these days all bands are getting smaller...
well that's fair. lol
kakkoi desu ne
lol
thats not a euph btw... it would most likely be a contrabass..... and why are you hating so much... geez... if theyre drumlines not well executed for you then deal with it..... its not your band.... let them they do wat they do and you keep your mouth shut and respected..
Go to my channel and I have the best Elementary and Jr High bands that I've ever seen. There also is 3 or 4 of the best high school shows I've ever seen as well.
@MarchingBandStuff1 Assuming you mean every world class corps except Pioneer. These guys would destroy them. Most decent HS marching bands were far better them Pio in 2011.... ;)
they make our band look like crap
another bd show XD
